  1. ballsy trail skills are sexier than smooth legs
  2. hmm, also check that your seat is level. if it's tipped a bit downward you could be sliding forward
  3. I'm already riding a small frame (Scwinn Moab) but felt a little 'stretched out'. Didnt want to move the saddle and mess with leg angles so installed a 50mm stem and a backswept riser bar. made an enormous difference to my comfort and the bike's response on the singletrack
  4. oh my word!!! the guy at 22 seconds has the EXACT same bike that I had! complete with the big bull bar-ends
  5. hahaha, all of us bud!
  6. loving this thread. i'm a half marathon kind of rider but the technical bits, especially loose or rocky drop offs scare me. anybody in pretoria east wanna help? I have two other lady friends that would also greatly appreciate this. we can pay in boozy lunches
  7. I have a 12 year old selle italia ldy which is serving me incredibly well. has done many km of road riding and I just transferred it to my mtb. best saddle I've ever owned
  8. we started in the 20km D batch with a beginner friend. We stopped to help a stranded rider and ended up being lapped by the 40km A and B batch and I must say, what pros! where we could we stopped to let them past and everybody was courteous (except for ONE lone @SS that shouted and screamed that we were in the way). Well done organisers, our beginner friend greatly enjoyed her first ride
  9. bucket with sunlight liquid or omo and hot water. and then a stiff bristle brush. but then my diadoras have velcro straps and my time cleats and pedals dont mind mud
  10. +1, I did road riding for many years on a rigid Giant hybrid with Conti slicks. Nobody ever looked at me funny
  11. I was just in cycle tech in kyalami and they're quite reasonably priced. R600 for a complete strip and service on a full suspension bike. the guy reckons service on my HT will be about R300. it's worth giving them a call. 011 466 9974
  12. yeah, he doesnt answer any of those
  13. I tried pm, email and phoning. no luck. dude, you're killing your customer base and reputation
  14. Hi Juan, Trying to get a hold of you but have had no luck. Please can you contact me? Have a bike in dire need of service in midrand
  15. Thanx! I found it. there's a small knob next to the brake lever arm that one can turn with a 2mm hex key to adjust the reach.
  16. Morning everybody! Just bought a new bike with shimano deore components. It doesnt look like it has the rapidfire shifters but I'm not sure of the exact model. it has a small thumb lever for shifting down and the brake lever is pushed down to shift up. Can the reach of the brake lever be adjusted? My hands are small and I'm having trouble reaching the brake lever to brake and to shift up.
  17. website down again?

    Axis A 60

http://www.axis-bikes.com/bikes/mtb-path-and-trail/a-60 Has anybody tried or reviewed this bike? It seems to have pretty good specs for the price. whats the weight like? and build quality? I'm a 'middle distance' weekend rider looking to retire my old giant yukon and upgrade to something a bit more modern. and if I get a reasonably priced bike, then I'll have a bit of leftover budget and can upgrade to tubeless and some other niceties
  20. we also stopped twice to help fellow cyclists. Mons100, we like the pay-it forward idea!
  21. hehehe. no worries. I meant this place: http://www.rietvlei-reserve.co.za/
