  1. I dont know if this engine has lambda sensors but I recently replaced such a sensor on my focus and my fuel consumption decreased from 11l/100km to <7.5. While my car was in the shop I drove a high mileage 5 speed 1.3l carb citi golf and got about 8.5l/100km.
  2. HAHAHAHA, well described
  3. Sweet! I've sent you guys a email re the skills clinic
  4. stupid question I know I'm not familliar with XCO at all but I get that it's a lap based race? what's the total distance being done? is it a discipline for the fitter, more advanced rider or can slow nervous nellies participate too? this might already have been asked, but can non-race participants also attend the skills clinic?
  5. we were slow and passed by a lot of faster guys. most were polite and you could hear them several riders back indicating which side they were passing on. big up to every polite rider out there, you guys make everybody's experience better. also thanx to Epic Sport at the 2nd water point. The chain lube was much appreciated after all the sand
  6. makes quite an unusual noise too when being ridden over! like a flat back tyre
  7. great 40km track, lots of interesting bits, LOTS of up made worse by the headwind. beautifully marked and marshalled too. well done Tim et all
  8. nevermind parking, I had to drive round the block 3 times trying to find the entrance to the place!
  9. probably to give them a headstart before the 40km race snakes start breathing down their necks. worked well at the #1 race
  10. I have to say I've recently switched from cheapies to specialized womens gloves and the difference is astounding. they fit, they grip, and they cushion. love them
  11. Tim, can you guys please confirm starting times and race registration venues? The facebook event page and the advendurance web page has conflicting information
  12. anybody tried the new crunch? seems a good option for me since I detest the texture of future life... but is it still a good, low gi breakfast cereal, or has a lot of sugars and things been added?
  13. oh hahah, sorry yes, there's a 'half' 94.7 road race too this year
  14. if you can do 30-40km offroad then 55km on the road will be a breeze
  15. mtb tyre? I had real skinny conti slicks years ago that would NOT seat correctly without sunlight liquid and rapid over-inflation at the petrol station. the bang gave the petrol jockeys a kick
  16. NICE! can you adjust the tension on these? report back needed after your first ride!
  17. yebo yes. die-hard time fan here too
  18. +1. My TIME pedals are 12+ years old and I would never ride with anything else. have never had any issues with mud and the surface area is large enough that I can fairly comfortably pedal even when clipped out
  19. village shopping center in moreletapark. inbox me and I'll send you his details
  20. I used David Nel who does the Specialized body bike fit. I paid R550 about 6 months ago
  21. when clipping in or out do it with your pedal in the 6 o'clock position. aka pointing towards the ground. This way you can put a bit of weight on it to stabilise things. clipping in is a straight forward motion, feel for the pedal and push down and forward until you hear the click. when unclipping, again rotate the pedal towards the ground, add a bit of weight to keep it in place and then and twist your heel sideways (not up or down, just towards the side) until the pedal disengages. if you feel you have to twist too much then adjust the tensioner to loosen the pedal. It helps a lot if your shoes and pedals allow you to still pedal fairly easily while clipped out. That way you can unclip and continue pedalling if you feel unsafe or nervous. Like other have said, unclip both feet BEFORE you stop moving. then you want have any embarrassing slow motion falls Where in gauteng are you?
  22. TIME, I will never use anything else. I've had my ATACs for 12+ years and they work in any condition with zero maintenance. cleats are now starting to look at bit worn
  23. I bought a first ascent bamboo thermal shirt this week. the material is quite thin and highly wicking. the box makes all kinds of grand promises of thermal regulation and comfort. we shall see A friend has a first ascent 'apple' jacket. she says its very windproof. it folds up in a tiny ball which can easily be stowed in a back pocket. and then ofcourse fleece arm warmers and long fingered winter gloves. eventually I plan on completing the 'ensemble' with long socks and a buff or two. extra points for wacky colour.
  24. am I the only one that thinks futurelife tastes like gritty tile grout? sticking with slices of low gi bread and peanutbutter on race days, oats or a meal replacer shake during the week
