  1. Thanks. A spray and cook can taped to my seatpost would raise some eyebrows. I'll have a look for the smaller sized one.
  2. How big is that can? Thinking being that for triathlon I'd rather carry that behind my seatpost than a spare tube and bombs. Would be faster to use than replacing a tube in a race
  3. Not yet, but I'm scared.
  4. Might try and join that sometime in the next couple weeks
  5. Great idea. Fingers crossed, I'd really like to get a decent OW swim in before 5150.
  6. Davem is wise beyond his years. No wetsuits allowed. I am rethinking entering this now.
  7. I hope so. I'll double check
  8. Yeah I reckon I'm gonna freeze cos there is no ways the water is warm yet. Need some OW practice in the wetsuit though so I'll take 1 x 3km swim with an icecream headache on the side
  9. There is an open water swim there (Heia Safari) on 26th October if guys are keen. 3km http://www.swiftswimming.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23:open-water-swimming&catid=2:uncategorised&Itemid=101
  10. Those slippery gypsies!
  11. 1. My Prince does have a round seatpost 2. Serial number should be on the bottom of the BB - agents were able to check it and confirm for me before I bought mine second hand - if they arent sure I would err on the side of caution towards chinna
  12. If your HIM run is that far off of your open HM time then you are biking too hard. I would guess your HIM run should be around 1:55 (~15% longer than your open time). Out of your 3 bike sessions only 1 is hard. Your brick bike is "easy" and your sunday ride is "recovery". I'd ride the saturday ride harder and forget about the brick session every single week. All that IMHO obviously.
  13. dont tempt me. Luckily this is just the wrong size: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/62660-quintana-roo-illicito-tri-bike/
  14. Very nice. Makes me a look at my roadbike with clip ons and think.........
  15. I'll be doing the 5150 - like the idea of not having to travel to far for this one. Not sure about swimming in Germiston Lake though. Havent seen it in a couple years but I cant remember the water being too clean
  16. As long as he wasnt planning to walk the swim. Bodhi, go grab some cataflam too. Works wonders
  17. Wetsuit not normally mandatory as far as I know. Just permitted if temp below certain level.
  18. Where do you guys buy your campagnolo brake pads from? I cant find a store in Jhb that stocks them. Bought some from Linden on Saturday only to realise when I got home they were the wrong pads. I see CWC has the SwissStop ones for a mere R400 for 4.
  19. Widest variety? Online. Otherwise try one of the tri shops in Jhb. I know of Troi Sports and Tribe Multsport. Not sure if they stock the draft legal ones though.
  20. According to the 5150 website you get a medal and a certificate? In all honesty though I dont know how they calculate it / why its more. I will say that the tri events I've done have been better than many of the single sport races I've done so maybe you pay more and you get more?
  21. Could you do it without aerobars? Yes. So I would say necessary no, nice to have yes. (note: 70.3 2014 will be my first HIM so I'm talking from what I've read on the internet and heard from guys who have done it without aerobars, and not personal experience)
  22. 3 sports.....organise life savers for swim, marshals for bike and run courses..
  23. Got a pair of Profile designs T2 cobra clip on's on Friday. Rode them on Saturday and love them. Super comfortable.
  24. No fight for me. Race organizers paid same day I asked
  25. Nah it's like a TV licence. You just get a number, no card
