  1. Yeah. Thy have their own but apparently you can use your racetec one. Never would have guessed
  2. Never mind, spoke to Anne Marie. Problem sorted.
  3. Just got an SMS telling me about registration times. It also says o make sure I bring my timing chip to registration....anyone have any idea what timing chip this is? Only one I own is a racetec chip and it can't be that
  4. How aero are unicycles?
  5. Sorry wrong forum but I dont know how to move the post
  6. The most comfortable ones? S-bend can be a bit aggressive if you arent used to aero (cant hurt the wrists) Many people favour ski bend when starting. As for which to get? Why the sexiest carbon ones you can find obviously
  7. if you want to destroy your productivity for the day go to www.slowtwitch.com and find the superbike threads. There's one for the P5, one for the TM01, etc.
  8. Drool away https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/52856-bmc-time-machine-tm01/
  9. My heart says bulls%&t....buy a tri bike cos they are sexy. My brain says do exactly what you've done - definitely the best way. Another thing to consider is imagine after 3 tri's you decide it isnt for you. You now have to either sell your road bike in a big secondhand market with loads of potential buyers, or you have to sell your TT bike to a very limited (by comparison) number of potential buyers. and oh ya, the addictive thing - what ADe said
  10. Wind in your hair and you look cooler than everyone else? Sounds exactly like a TT bike to me haha. If I had the cash I'd buy a TT bike as a nice to have and because I like collecting bikes but for me at this stage it doesnt make sense to buy a TT bike (and I dont like road races at all so thats not a reason for me). Your point about the course at 70.3 is something I hadnt really considered. Glad there is any good reason to keep my roadbike for now (until I decide that long course tris are my thing)
  11. With 1 tri under your belt I'd say roadbike with clip on areo bars to start. Its just so much more versatile. If you end up doing a couple of 70.3s and then decide that tris are definitely for you, then you can sell the roadbike and buy a TT bike. Well thats my plan at least.
  12. Not sure how much effect on aero it will have if you tape a couple gels to the top tube behind the stem? Also its just cool to have your gels taped there....note I am not talking about those bikes with 1 000 power bars taped to every conceivable piece of the frame.
  13. Jealous. I know some guys tape a tube and bombs under the seat. Nutrition is easy....tape gels and bars to the top tube
  14. Yes I probably should have been specific but I was in a rush to get back to work. Foolish me, but hopefully this will end up being a rave not a rant
  15. Only reason given was that they were expensive. Anecdotal evidence from 1 person hence my post on here to check what the general public's opinion was. Like I said, I was very happy on the initial interaction - will wait for Saturday (when I pick bike up) and reserve my judgement until then
  16. Great thanks. Put my mind at ease a little there. Just nervous after another LBS charged me R500 for replacing a spoke (my mistake for not getting a quote when dropping it off)
  17. Dropped by MTB off there yesterday for full service and basic checkup. Also had one rear spoke slightly bent so requested they take a look at that and check wheel is true. I didnt ask for a quote on the service, but was promised a call if anything major came up. Felt pretty good, guy who helped me was friendly and helpful. Then.....friend of mine tells me I made a mistake and shouldnt have taken it there. Whats your opinion? (really looking for people who have or continue to use them)
  18. I understand what you guys are saying about 1 device for everything but I honestly cant think of anything worse that having to carry my phone with me on a run. I wont even take it with me on the bike - prefer to use my Edge 500. I'll rather save up and buy a garmin watch for the running which I can pair with the HR strap I already have
  19. She wont be happy with the first two. Better make it the butcher
  20. 9;00!!!! thats ridiculous I know its winter but really?!
  21. 50km ride at van gaalens followed by a trail run tomorrow. Gotten kick ass into gear before dualthon next weekend
  22. Having to pump up your shock during a ride. 3 times. I would classify that as unlucky.
  23. Or just ride the **** bike on the trainer. Just change out the seat and seatpost with your "real" bike for comfort maybe? It is crazy though that you can buy a whole bike for less than a spare wheel.
  24. Answer: forget the spare wheel and get a spare bike. Now that is legit hub advice
  25. Why do you need to carry a shockpump with you? Surely checked before the ride is good enough?
