  1. For road everything fits easily into the pockets of my jersey. For MTB I usually use a camelbak with spares in. For races I just tape two bombs to the seatpost
  2. Edenvale, Rand Park Ridge, either way its dangerous to travel alone
  3. Completely different view and experience of that shop. Tried to use them a number of times - will never go back. Not looking to get into an argument over LBSs....its already been mentioned here that everyone has a different experience with the same LBSs, just adding my 2c
  4. Hope that doesnt clash with the buffelspoort ultra. Race calender is looking full which is never a bad thing
  5. Ya, only gloves I have are motorcross ones. Wore surgical gloves underneath to try and help which maybe they did but my fingers were so cold I couldnt feel them until about 8:30 Next week....I'm wearing my snowboarding gloves.
  6. Swim once a week at the moment - very chilled. Bike - 1 long ride a week + one 40km group ride mid week Run - Prob once or twice a week max at the moment, nothing longer than 8kms Was out at the cradle on sat....left at 6;30am.....was fairly chilly in those dips from Broadacres on the way to the Cradle loop
  7. I've really been battling with the cold air affecting my lungs recently. If you can also try and breathe in through your nose. Warms the air up just that little bit more before it hits your lungs. Buffs are the number 1 training aid in winter for my early morning runs and bikes. (and running tights, and thermal tops and a beanie ) and gloves
  8. So I shouldnt get to the 2nd water point and scream "but someone on the hub told me that there'd be Roctane here!!"?
  9. 100% - first duathlon. Not sure what I'm going to do without a swim to warmup for the bike. Plan is to take the first run ridiculously slow
  10. Sweet, thanks. I had foolishly already entered the long one before asking this question so glad you havent posted a horror story about how badly organised this race is
  11. Anyone doing this / done this race before? Any good? Any advice? Whats the course like?
  12. What we used to do with our surfing wetsuits was put them in a washing machine every now and again, without any soap etc., to rinse all the salt out. worked well.
  13. Looks like I'll have to start training on marmite sandwiches and GU chomps
  14. Definitely planning to beat a certain time. Planning special needs bag properly will be the way forward for me I think. Especially since I enjoy the drink I'm currently training on - no stomach problems this far
  15. Thanks. Its a little different for IM I guess. Normally you would train with what you are going to race with and this would be whatever drink you preferred. But I guess for IM its different cos you cant carry your own drink the whole race. So not a bad idea to train with the sponsors drink
  16. Hey guys, Wanting to know from the guys who completed IMSA this year (or 70.3), what drinks did they hand out at the aid stations? And if you could choose what they had what would your choice be? I'm assuming water is one and coke for the run definitely, but what sports drink would you prefer to have or did you just drink your own?
  17. Stillwater website says number collection on sat morning from 6 to 8am. Not sure if the race is starting at 7
  18. Does anyone know when registration is?
  19. Entered the full. My first tri...cant wait. Nervous of the heat though
  20. I have rims that came with my bike when I bought it....pretty sure they arent UST rims. To convert I just have the tape and it works 100%. Not sure if this really helps you but thats my 2c
  21. She must not understand your sophisticated training methods but I believe you've arrived at an agreeable compromise.
  22. Do you practice macing them? Does he give the sim card back or take everything? Be careful, when they wizen up they'll realise that the bike is more valuable that your cellphone and then they'll pinch that
  23. "On DAD!"
  24. Was your cadence too low? Try to push a smaller gear
  25. Yes. Top Tip: Its important to remember to remove the thorns of the roses though otherwise you will be in for some embarrasing trips to the local XXX store. Buying 2 dolls maybe be considered socially acceptable but buying 3 to 4 a week raises eyebrows.
