  1. Having motorbikes in bicycle races is ridiculous. Buy an ebike, ride it, have fun, enjoy etc but as soon as timing is involved then leave your motorbike at home. It's a bicycle race.
  2. I love bike racing. 0-33km we're all mates. 32-66km it's getting serious 66-100km f*k you arsehat I'm racing over here...
  3. Exactly this - I have saved a few shifters this way. Sometimes the lubricant gets a little sticky and the ratchet stops working. Turn it upside down, give it a good squirt then pray...
  4. Wait. WHAT? 40,000km on a tyre? How the hell?
  5. Imagine other careers were like cycling.... I get caught defrauding my company - no worries they say - depending on how much you stole you can't work for us for 6 months to 2 years then we'll have a chat to one our mates and get you a job over there....or take a slightly longer vacation and come back as our Director of Sport/Head of Accounting. It's laughable.
  6. Is it a necessity? No. Is it a luxury that will improve your time, comfort and fun factor? Yes.
  7. It's a tough call. Super low concentrations can either be contamination or evidence of abuse in the past. Given the history of cycling we tend to go with evidence of abuse in the past.... As always we will never know. Only Toon and maybe his inner circle will ever know if he doped.
  8. The CX guys strike me as little more old school but I see Toon has already denied denied denied. Maybe he drank from his wife's glass - that seems to be the excuse of the year so far.
  9. A prescription only drug to inhibit estrogen production. Daaamn Toon - that is gonna be a tough one to deny....
  10. The difference is 5 years....5 very important years....
  11. Pay someone to measure you up. Most fitting systems have frame a sizing software guide based on your measurements and has the last few years geometry in the database. The fitter should be able to nail it every time. Small investment to ensure you get the right geometry and size.
  12. Of course it is but sleeping in a hotel in Spain every night when you're racing all over Europe is a bit of a logistics problem...
  13. Of course but you take the PEDs to get the level. Or sleep in Kolobnevs special hotel rooms.
  14. Some PEDs already have legal limits - hematocrit is at 50% and that hasn't stopped people getting popped for it. Making all PEDs legal then relying on the morality of doctors to administer the right amounts makes no sense. We already know the morality of some doctors is more flexible than chewing gum - all that will happen is that people will start getting popped for exceeding the "healthy limits". The goal posts will move and nothing will change (except for more kids being told taking PEDs is ok). Who in their right minds thinks giving PEDs to kids is OK? Fark.
  15. Throw them out with the bath water, tub and anything else they cling to. Whether they're decent human beings or not has nothing to do with it. They sh@t all over the sport and deserve no part in it whatsoever.
  16. Best way to determine if Shimano chains are done is with the Shimano TL-CN42. It spreads one link and gives you the most accurate change/don't change choice (other meters tend to make you replace before end of life). https://www.bike24.com/p211603.html
  17. Bro alert. Bro aleeeeeert!
  18. One thing that has consistently impressed me about Denmark is how active the public are in cycling (and all other sports). Clubs, races, training and coaching all happen without the local federation. The federation does very little day to day - it's mostly parents, volunteers, ex pros and interested parties that make it happen for promising young riders. Just a thought....
  19. Whether he is a decent person or not has no bearing on this debate. I'm sure most of us would enjoy a beer with any of the dopers - they have a million war stories from a sport we enjoy. That doesn't change the fact that they benefited (and continue to benefit greatly) from doping, lying, cheating and stealing. Landis' net worth is $3m, Lance is at $50m, Hincapie at $40m - gained the same way as Zuma and the Guptas.
  20. They are the apex dopers so they will always cop more flak. Okes that dope, get bust, take the hit and enjoy the ban cop a little less flak. No such thing as a good doper though....
  21. The Chicken time trialing was my favourite 🙂 He focussed a little too much on the weight side of power to weight ratio. Asthmatic hamster best described his TTing.... Vino - what a hustler - bargains/buys his way into wins and now runs a dodgy pro cycling team. Crime does indeed pay! Extremely very well if you're a cyclist (I'm talking to you George Hincapie - bust AFTER you retired and built a clothing empire based on being a very good doper). Laughable.
  22. All the money he made and is making is based on being a doper. Not good enough in my book. Better than nothing but he can never make up for what he did - at best he can limit some of the damage but I don't feel he should get an ounce of praise. As long as we support dopers post doping - doping will continue.
  23. On the plus side I turned around - are you still in the "I don't think he came out of it with much $$$." camp when he received $1.1m in addition to the the $1,65m lawyers fees? If he had fessed up before he got popped/during his popping or shortly after his popping I would happily agree with you but he didn't. Instead he went the Omerta route, bankrupted himself then started a fund to defend himself - he even called it the Fairness Fund knowing full well he was lying through his teeth. He only came around when the final axe had fallen and he sniffed money.... The other 49 people that gave evidence didn't get rewarded.....he did. He said he used drugs because of Lance - then continued using drugs well after Lance. He may well be sorry and want to make up for it but too little too late in my book. Him and Lance and all the other doping liars should be banned from the sport for life. The fact that they all still make money based on cheating and lies is wrong. The fact that they do is a poor reflection on the people that support them.

    Frame size

My thumb suck was a little out - here is a grab from bikefitting.com software - the averages are from around 5,000,000 real world measurements on our global database. Average inseam for 178cm man is 85.9cm.
  25. Ahh Riccardo Ricco - watching him at the 2008 TdF rip the field to shreds was a thing of beauty - same as Landis' crazy solo TdF winning move. Armstrong giving Ullrich "the eye" in a drug fulled drag race up L'Alpe-d'Huez in 2001. There were many awesome moments in the dirty decade of cycling. Awesome at the time - awful later on. For some reason Landis is the only one I take personally - I could probably forgive 1 or 2 or 3 of the things he did but dear god the sheer arseholery of his actions is epic. The fact that he (and all the other lying, cheating dopers) are still making a living from doping does burn my piss a little. Him and Armstrong are the apex burners in my opinion.
