  1. I've ridden up the Huez in real life and can confirm that the default difficulty setting on Zwift is laughably easy. It's a brutal climb that the majority of hobby riders would not make without regular stops. It makes sense that they dial down the difficulty to cater for the masses. Like the others said - dropping the difficulty doesn't reduce the work required to get to the top - you just go slower (and can ride a more comfy rpm).

  3. Nizzolo is Euro Champion! The Italians dominated the last 10km and Nizzolo finished it off nicely. Fortunately for him MVDP got proper boxed in!
  4. My shop is a rezoned apartment so it has a full kitchen (refreshment area and workshop), a full bathroom (bike wash area) a large bedroom/lounge (fitting studio) and it is situated on a really nice square with trees, benches and tables (chill zone).
  5. Not too bad - they're what I call semi exposed. They exit the frame through holes in a plate around the stem then get clamped under the stem on their way to the bars. Us fitters love these semi integrated solutions. Monocoque barstems and totally integrated cabling suck :-)
  6. Look what I'm playing with today....the SL7 is really pretty in Blue Tint Over Spectraflair/Brushed Chrome. Really subtle until you put it in the sun then it's all glitter and rainbows :-)
  7. And about 80kg. Electric is just damn torquey. It's like a 2-stroke in the power band all the time
  8. I don't care what the nomenclature says - that looks like tons of fun!
  9. To be honest I have not the faintest clue ????
  10. That is nice! The lack of 6 inch tall logos on every tube is a nice feature. Subtle and dark!
  11. Hey Dale, On the plus side - pretty light - 7.8kg with pedals & cages. The rear end is super stiff and the ride is pretty compliant (both due to the super wide super flat down tube I'd guess). On the negative side: The front end is a little weird - it feels compliant but a little lazy. It took a while to really trust the front diving hard into tight corners (by comparison the Madone was easy from Day 1). Giant's inhouse PowerPro cranks have been flawless. The frame can take super wide tyres so my 28mm Panaracer Gravel King training tyres look quite nice in there (not like they've been stuffed in with older frames). I agree with almost everything these guys said: https://www.cyclingnews.com/reviews/giant-tcr-advanced-sl-0-review/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=meetedgar&utm_content=automated&fbclid=IwAR13_kKmVLlw81EbSiinXLKqE8M6evTO3WSRr8c6sQgpeq5nyFOFo061KV8 Bare in mind mine is the Advanced PRO not the SL (I hate integrated seat posts). I hate most integrated anything but that is a whole other story :-) I'm not yet convinced by their "holds it speed easily on flats" but that was based on riding with with a crazy fast bunch and holding that speed was never going to be "easy". It is supposed to be super aero - more so that the SL6 so in theory it should hold speed on the flats nicely. Time will tell. Best part is the price. I went from a 35,999dkk Madone (mechanical ultegra, alu wheels no power meter) to a 38,999dkk TCR (ultegra di2, full carbon wheels and dual power meter cranks). That is proper bang for buck.
  12. Its a big problem over here. Rich guys buying super expensive 45kph ebikes and crashing them because they're just not used to the speed. That and some of the brakes on these 40kg bikes are woefully underspecced.
  13. Did anyone here actually receive a survey? I've been on Zwift for around 3 years and haven't ever received one...

  15. I had Eurosport for 2 years but there is precious little other than cycling here in Denmark. I was hoping to see some SA cricket and rugby but no dice. That and it is R3,300/year. Maybe I'll pay month to month for the next 3 months - that's all I need this year! Thanks for the idea! Edit: Fark. It's R4,300 a year. That is a little rough for a few months cycling.
  16. Have you guys tried TIZ? That's where I watch most of my cycling. No fussing, payment or VPN needed.
  17. Early on in Denmark I was out riding in winter - hopelessly under dressed in my SA "winter" clothing. I was about 5km from home freezing my arse off with numb everything when it started to rain....I was about to jump off and call a taxi when I realised the rain was solid and bouncing off me. Saved by the cold! Yay! Ironic but yay!
  18. I use to think like you then I experienced winter not that winterlite you have in South Africa :-) God bless Zwift!
  19. There seems to have been a proper crashfest by the ladies before the Strade...60 stitches for Ashleigh and a broken hip for Harris! https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/training-crashes-force-moolman-pasio-koppenburg-and-harris-to-miss-strade-bianche/
  20. I'm 187cm with a 93cm inseam. The bike in the pic is a Large.
  21. That deserves a swift clip over the ear hole. Nothing wrong with making a profit on something but being a devious little twat about it deserves a warm ear.
  22. Good on you for checking - that is the right thing to do. I have no problem with anyone selling anything for any price - free market principle. The only issue I have is when people start to make judgement calls but those judgement calls only work one way/their way. If you're going to fight for your rights then you have to carry the responsibility that comes with those rights (even if "the norm" suggests otherwise).
  23. Some sellers and buyers are hubbers and some are not. Sure. Fine. I just finding it amusing/hypocritical/interesting that if you start too high everyone will tell you. If you start too low nobody will tell you. If people bargain you down it's normal - if you bargain people up you're an arsehole. Methinks people who claim to be helping newbies/making thehub a safer place/being all philanthropic should perhaps try and see both sides of the picture. Edit: Oh and tell your mate to get on thehub :-)
  24. Pedals detract from the Insta! I also ride without bottles or a computer because, you know, weightweenie :-)
  25. History shows that if the price is too high then all and sundry want their comments back so they can "save fellow hubbers". If the price is too low then it's game on to not tell the seller (who is also a "fellow hubber") and scalp him. If he dares to put his price up/correct his price then he is the arsehole? So prices can only go down on a sale? Sounds like a win-win where the buyer gets both wins.
