    Comobike PE

I have been contacted by suppliers seeking clarification of the situation regarding Comobike PE. To counter any speculation, Comobike PE has closed it's doors voluntarily I have just spoken with one of the store owners and reconfirmed this, prior to posting on the hub. Should anyone wish to PM me regarding business, please do so, and I will forward all such inquires to the store owners. Simon PPWTF2009-07-29 09:35:14
  3. Rumours on Campagnolo http://www.bike-eu.com/public/Image/Bike%20Europe%20Website%20Campagnolo%20234.jpgThere are strong rumours going around in Europe as well as in Asia that Campagnolo has been sold. From various sources this trade journal heard that the sale of the complete company already took place. Asked whether he could confirm or deny the sale, Campagnolo?s Marketing & Communication director Lorenzo Taxis said: ?I am not going to give you an official answer on this, as this is not an official matter inside the company.? Sources indicate that a Japanese company should have bought Campagnolo and with that of course Shimano springs to mind. A Shimano Europe spokesman said that he heard that rumours too, but that he could definitely deny any involvement of the Japan based component maker. Update on Campagnolo Rumours VICENZA, Italy - Campagnolo has not been sold and is not for sale. That?s what?s the renowned Italian component maker is now officially saying to all its relations throughout the world. ?Apparently summer temperature brings silly gossip! Campagnolo do not know who has the time to circulate crazy rumors; instead we prefer, as usual, not to waste time and concentrate on business. Campagnolo is not on sale ! Have a nice summer period and see you in September.? PPWTF2009-07-29 07:07:55
  4. Stans make a road bike kit. Campy and Shimano have rims that are full tubeless in their '09/2010 line ups..... think the 'home made' option is a little more challenging for road, given the 8 Bar pressure compared to 3 max on a mountain bike.....

  8. Funny, but in all the trash talk about 'personalities' not seeing eye to eye not a sole has mentioned that dear Alberto was outted by the TdF organizers as actually having switched Nationalities; hence they played the Danish national anthem when he steped onto the top spot on the podium..... http://www.velonews.com/article/96109 two lines from the bottom of the article......
  9. you mean he's gonna make a massive Spur coke floater with all that vanilla ice cream....!!!!? PPWTF2009-07-10 00:18:20
  10. So in the first installment of 'How to successfully fuel for the TdF' Andreas Kloden shows us how to get all the calories and sugar needed to smile after another 150 + KM day in the saddle......
  11. So this is what it looks like from inside the Astana bus, looking out on Lance (in Grey hoody) saying good morning to a few folk wanting to get a few words for copy.... This lot turn up every day, the non cycling world thinks you've just gotta turn up and the TdF is yours for the taking, and your team has enough talent to potentially put 3 people on the podium in Paris, and that might not include you...... welcome to life inside the bubble PPWTF2009-07-10 00:08:53
  12. Alberto Contador, with full support from the team. Natural order will impose itself, levels heads will draw the only conclusion possible. I'm a lance fan, but reality says when the hills become mountains it's young legs that win the day Astana may well become the first team in history to fill the top 3 places; that in itself will more than satisfy the Livestrong publicity machine ..............remember, you heard it hear 1st
  13. Continuing the F1 theme, Martin Brundle was awesome; blunt, direct, respected enough by drivers to get the kinda access no non racer would ever get..... So yes, somebody speak with Jens Voigt's agent and get him pre signed to a broadcasting deal asap (probably another 2 season's on the bike I know, but he's the perfect future commentator)
  14. 63 people have taken a look at the post but on 5 have voted! Was the turnout for the demo days really that low?
  15. The Demo Days format has grown massively in the UK and this years Bicycling mag demo days were the first here in SA. So what did Hubbers make of it? PPWTF2009-07-03 23:12:25
  16. What gets me is there are way way to many similar stories currently doing the rounds about distributors/reps making it all but impossible for a cycle shop to carry 'their' brand of product... In no particular order, over the last 8 months we've had (here on the HUB) Competition; you stock a rival brand so you can't have oursYou can't give me enough floor spaceYou won't sell enough unitsYou must have a certain amount of the range on the shop floorWe've no interest supplying you as another bike shop in the same city as you already carries our productYou will sell at our RRP and margins or we'll excommunicate you I mean, seriously now, have these guys (product distributors) taken a really good look at the current consumer market conditions; Escom 31% price rise, Petrol going ever up...along with food prices.......and the biggest of all of these CRC hoovering up business like it's going out of fashion It's not hard to see why legions of SA cyclists order from overseas, and a worryingly large number of LBS are left with no option but to shut shop.... (moved from the original post as it was a 'for sale' thread - not wanting to hijack it) Edited by PPWTF - Today at 7:58am
  17. Post moved to 'rant and rave', out of respect for the original poster trying to help out a shop and make some sales PPWTF2009-07-03 00:04:47
  18. OK, here's a thought - price differences between Euro sourced product from online retailers are cheaper than SA sourced product because....... Here in SA the governemnt has a blanket trade tariff on pretty much anything brought / manufactured in China / Far East countries. The tariff is designed to stop "dumping" of good's at very low cost into our domestic market place, effectively killing off local manufacturing. What relevance does this have on LBS closing, or online orders from Euro based businesses I hear you ask? We'll, given that about 75% or more or of cycling industry product, from clothing through bike are manufactured in the Far East, we the SA cycling industry and end users, the cycling public, are getting hammered by resulting prices imposed as a result of a government policy. I could understand if there was a domestically based cycle manufacturing industry to protect, but there really is not. First Ascent don't need help, Morewood do more business in Europe / USA than here at home..... So you see, the online Vs domestic argument regarding pricing is a lot more complex than simple margins / local pricing (rant over) PPWTF2009-06-29 23:54:46
  19. In the shadow of Mont Ventoux Cycling: David Millar is drug-free and ready to pay a Tour de France tribute to his idol, the tragic Tommy Simpson http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_sport/cycling/article6590058.ece Good interview. Love him or hate him David always has something interesting to say, and his story, divided though it leaves people, is truly of our times. PPWTF2009-06-28 01:11:41
  20. this crazy weather is doing nothing for the training motivation.... howz a guy supposed to 'warm up' when he can't feel his fingers and toes!? I can stand cold, I can stand wet, but cold and wet together = not happening
  21. stunnin ride mate - should make the FHM.... I mean Tread magazine, centre fold Not sure what it is about this bike but everything looks so clean and tidy, like minimal fuse but drop dead gorgeous in a way that no R60'000 plus bike ever has to me. Guess it's what they call the X factor PPWTF2009-06-25 10:30:43
  22. Upper back / lower neck is often caused when reach is stretched Imagine your back being flat (ish) across the shoulders when the arms are not reaching for the hoods, that the shoulders are actually in the sockets. Now, when the reach is actually a stretch the upper back / shoulders become rounded and the shoulders extended out of their sockets (obviously not literally, but as it looks) In this instance trapezious muscles give out very quickly; they aren't designed to work in extension. A lot of folks get a minor version of this when reaching for the mouse at a PC all day - it's like a tingling sensation around the shoulderblade. fitting onto a bike rather than to numbers is the only way to get a good fit Eg. Two guys same height, one has long legs / short torso, the other short Legs long torso - both will have very different set up despite same height
  23. http://www.thelocal.de/lifestyle/20090623-20149.html Berlin motorcycle inventor puts the human in hybrids Who says green vehicles can?t be cool? A Berlin-based inventor has created a ?human-hybrid? cycle combing a zippy electric motor with pedal power. Andrew Mach takes the eRockit out for a spin. ?The idea was to build a machine like a motorcycle, which can out-accelerate cars,? Gulas told The Local during recent test ride in Berlin. ?It?s our own system. It?s a new technology not implemented anywhere.? Formed in late 2004, his now 12-man company builds a variety of bikes, mixing the asthetics of a motorcycle with a battery motor and adding bicycle pedals to come up with a totally unique two-wheeled vehicle. Powered by electricity, the ?human-hybrid? still relies on pedalling to propel it forward at speeds of up to 80 kilometres (50 miles) per hour. ?We?ve tried to keep the character of a bike,? said Gulas. ?Something that?s electric, that?s cool and sexy that people want to ride ? that was the driving force.? Despite its powerhouse performance, the eRockit otherwise behaves exactly like a regular bicycle. The rider must pedal to accelerate and brakes are located on both handlebars. But the 12-horsepower electric motor situated between the rider?s legs offers a ?superhuman? sensation, according to Gulas. ?It feels like you?re riding a bike, so you always compare it to the speed you could go on a bicycle,? he explained, adding that easily passing cars ?just keeps you smiling.?
  24. http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/mark-cavendish-boy-racer All cyclists hate stationary bikes or ?rigs?, mainly because they?re synonymous with leg-butchering, lung-perforating fitness tests, but no one hates them more than I do. At the [british Cycling Federation?s] Academy I?d almost literally kick and scream even before I was put through one of these ordeals, to the point where eventually the coaches decided it was too much melodrama to bear and agreed to let me opt out. All the feedback I?ve got from these tests could be condensed into a single message ? the same one you often hear directed at opposing fans at football matches: ?You?re sh*t and you know you are??"
