  1. WonDUHboy - I did warn them that their camera lenses might crack - so maybe that's why no photos of me...
  2. Thanks Michelle.
  3. [quote name=wonduhboy Sorry CP' date=' my apologies, just you seemed to be so scarce in the pics that I just assumed you were hiding. I guess I'll have to wait for the pics of you pulling the group to confirm your story - and we all know how long it took for Grapkas to find evidence that she works in the front [/quote] Just read Michelle's reply - because you are SO looking for sh#t now...!!Chilli Pepper2006-08-30 02:20:59
  4. Thanx for excellent pics once again Crux!
  5. I saw those three guys in TCS kit - was wondering who they could be - mystery solved!! Thanx Crux.
  6. Maybe the lens cracked.... I did warn you SP....
  7. So I survived my first licensed race! It wasn't too bad - the wind made it more difficult. Got dropped between 30-40km from the start, decided to just enjoy the race after that. Cycled with Michelle for a bit and hooked up with Snapshot at about 50km and finished with her. Slowpoke came cruising by taking pics about 10km to the finish. And saw Cruxpearl and the TCS Vito at the first turn left. Could've maybe finished in a better time, but decided that I needed to enjoy it more than having a better finishing time. It's not like I was going to win.... It was nice seeing Slowpoke again and to meet Amateur, Altie(?), Snapshot, Michelle, Jason, Epoh. Doret and I went looking for the "Hub get-together" but couldn't find it. We were cycling around the parking area until someone told us the race was finished and we needed to get off our bikes...
  8. Happy birthday Jason!! Glad I got to meet you on your birthday, even though I didn't know it was. Hope you have a wonderful year ahead!
  9. Chrissie, Thanks for a lovely report - I must say, the green monster is sitting squarely on my shoulders!! Good luck and best wishes for a succesful time abroad!
  10. Um, this was all very interesting - but now: who's doing this race for the fun? Dudet? The long distance? I haven't been getting enough training in due to various factors and have been "convinced" to still do the race.. I need some company during the looonnnggg hours on the road..

  12. Okay, so I'm a woman and I don't like cold.. Armwarmers - check, vest - check, bib - check, cycling clothes - check, toewarmers - check. Full gloves and leg warmers - can I get away without them? Without suffering severe frostbite? Two bottles of fast fuel, with powder in my pocket for more. A sachet of vooma for every 45 minutes. Will there be sandwiches somewhere along the route?
  13. I'm a bit late reading this - but it sounds good. Only thing is to get to Jhb to start... but would be interesting. Will keep an eye out for details.
  14. Thanks everyone - What a lot of information! I'll try to assimilate everything and make a decision accordingly. smileys/smiley20.gif
  15. I've decided not to do the cassette. I'll change the crankarm to 172.5 and the crankset. I've got a problem with running out of breath before I run out of power - working bigger gears seem to be easier than spinning up hills, and I run out of gears and get dropped by the bunch on the straights. I can't afford any of it really, but can definitely NOT afford another bike, so will have to change this one's setup as far as I can. Can I keep the 9spd shifters, chain, derailleurs and cassette, but upgrade the crankset to 10spd? I'm really still very new to this - and all the cranksets on the web seem to be 10spd?!
  16. Apparently my bike setup is quite wrong for me. Current setup: Shimano 105 tripple crankset (52-42-30), 12-25 cassette, 170 crankarm. My length: 174cm. Frame size: 54cm Scott Speedster S4. I've been advised to change to the following: 53-39/38 crankset, 11-25 cassette, 172,5 or 175 crankarm. Anybody out there who agree/disagree with reasons? I desperately need/want to improve my current cycling performance.
