  1. Can someone tell me what the 08 Campag Veloce groupset (Crank & BB, ergo levers, casette & chain, r/f deraileurs & brake set) more or less retail for? The infinite's look killer to me.. Some well known bike retailer told me i'm looking at R4000 just for a cassette..Best i dont name the shop. Might go for the painstaking bike building thing as and when i can afford it and need to decide campag/shimano...i still havent sold my stuff on the hub.. Thanks
  2. only have experience with non-coloured ones and non bmx sorry dude i know this doesn't help much
  3. Don't know what the Circuits retail for new..Does anyone know? Also, what does the following wheels cost? Fulcrum Racing 7 Fulcrum Racing 5 Fulcrum Racing 3 Fulcrum Racing 1 I like them fulcrums very much.
  4. Can fellow hubbers please comment on the Easton Circuit road wheelset? 1) Are they reliable and strong? 2) Will they survive my 90kg chassis or should I look at upgrading the wheels? Thanks
  5. Pappadoupolos, have they got stock for the Monza?? I was told no complete bikes in kansas/detroit frames and very limiting sizes in the monza. I'm also looking at a roadbike and like the S.B carbon bikes..but i'm scared going the carbon route. One nasty wipe out and tata my frame.
  6. I even considered to bike to work as i live 10k's from work...i just can get myself to imagine riding on the road with 80% idiot drivers on it. West rand traffic around hedrik potgieter/beyers naude is just not worth it. Problem is, many drivers will leave you for roadkill instead of stopping to help. A mate at work trained for the 94.7 about 2 years ago..he was run over and the idiot sped off. He said he felt nothing..he was just cycling and the next moment he's flat on the tar...luckily he lived to tell the tale.
  7. This is the most horrible thing i ever saw..I was planning on getting a roadbike but ill be thinking twice. Everyday i see roadies in hendrik potgieter (westrand) dodging peak traffic..totally insane..just where the hell can you cycle on a road these days..
  8. What this thing "knocked for riding trek? Is this the same as "if you ride a raleigh, you ride k@k"?? Seriously, is trek alu frames good?
  9. Mtbiker looking for road bike and need advice on bike I saw at cyclelab JHB. It is a new trek roadbike, 2007 stock clearance, cant remember the model though. it has 105 groupo (crank, f/r deraileurs, brakes, shifters) and bontrager stem, bar, wheelset and carbon seatpost. Retailing for R6399 excl pedals. Is this good, decent buy for fisrt road bike? Not familiar with trek. Thanks
  10. Also looking for new ones..my RAVX gloves (righthand - throttlehand) lasted 5 rides..fabric over gelpad tore completely open..
  11. As a guideline, subtract your age from 220 to get your max hr. I used the following as guidelines for canoeing: TARGET ZONESLO%MAX%1AEROBIC RECOVERY9650%11560%2AEROBIC ENDURANCE11560%13470%3LACTATE TOLERANCE13470%15380%4VO2MAX15380%17290%5MAX SPEED17290%191100%
  12. I inspected my tires after the race and there were a lot of duwweltjies..but they were too small to completely penetrate the tyre. I'm sure it would make a hissing sound if I do punture properly..
  13. I bought Dr. Sludge from sportmanswarehouse for 36 bucks a 250ml bottle (couldn't fine Joe's but R500ml retails for around R160)and injected it with a 10ml (flippen small) syringe without a needle, patched the hole and also fitted tyre liners. The sludge is much thicker than joe's. Did the lionman mabalingwe race on saturday but alas no punctures..so i can't comment on the effectiveness of this combination. There were alot of people who puntured on this race. I didn't even notice the added weight on my wheels..will keep you posted
  14. Ok, but will it seal the tube or will it just spray the sealant between the tyre and tube? I watched the video on Joe's site where they claim they only used normal inner tubes and not tubeless..flippen hard to believe as the inner tubes must have looked like a sive with al the holes..maybe it was tubeless and the wording is wrong..
  15. I'm sure i can make a small hole with a decent syringe and just patch it afterwards..
  16. Question for techies? For a el cheapo solution to better puncture resistance, is it worthwile putting Joe?s tyre sealant in my inner tubes? Tubes are much thinner than tyre tread so will the sealant seal holes in my tube? Or should I rather use tyre liners? Or both? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thx
  17. I would Say Silverback Nabraska @ R6,915. Has got better brakes (Avid Juicy's), rest almost identical except for Shimano Lx/Xt vs. SRAM x7/X9 drivetrain. Also prefer shimano SPD's vs. Crank bros candy pedals. Check out Schwinn Moab Disc. For 900 Rondts more buy the Silverback Sierra..Similair spec level bike is the Felt RXC 2, which retails for around R11,000. Massive saving of R2k! Silverback has the best value for money at the moment.
  18. Why does the slime not react to the air in the tubes?? Any specifiec brand you can recommend before filling my tubes with sommer any aap snot?
  19. Miskien vat ek my 9mm op my volgende outing.. Daar is net 1 ding wat gesag afdwing....'n loop van 'n geweer.. flippen bastards
  20. Mampara that blue is not so bad..the alpine/silverback looks way better in real life than on the website...If my wife had a choice i'm sure she would have picked a pink one..can you imagine how gay it would make me look if we cycle together??
  21. If your max is strictly R3k I would say buy a Silverback Alpine for R3105. Got deore f/r derailleurs, deore rapidfire shifters and its a 9 speed. The wife has got one and she loves it.
  22. agree that nabraska has got better components..My brakes initially felt a bit pap but after 60km's or so they have settled nice..they really are excellent stoppers and after this weekends ride im still stoked on this bike..
  23. At that price range also look at the GT Zaskar Expert, Full LX groupset on bike. If you stretch a grand further the Commencal Supernormal Deluxe is also very nice option. Silverback Sierra also nice bike.
  24. Price?
  25. Hi These wheels are to be found on the Merida Road Race 904-com, Cannondale CAAD9 5, Silverback Monterey bikes.. Are these decent wheels? Since i'm not a roadie i need advice..Someone told to me to invest in better wheelset as my 95kg chassis will see me snapping spokes..wasn't a joke..
