  1. Didn't ride. Taking a break from racing for a while. You light up at the halfway mark? Keep well.
  2. Button up a few buttons. Turn shirt over. Fold one side in and sleeve down and repeat on other side. Becomes a bit of a mission but what needs to be done needs to be done.
  3. You park outside the hot dog stand. Nice bike!!! Thanks to the complete cyclist guy that made me gun it to work today as I didn't want you overtaking me. Wasn't ideal as I cycled 50km's before work but you also looked like you had just come from a ride.
  4. Email: Bronwen Dyke <bronwendyke@gabs.co.za>
  5. 1. Hi Bronwen, Is the GA bus driver on duty today? Will he/she be fired? Kind regards, (ME) 2. (ME) According to company policy he was suspended immediately yesterday. The results of the police investigation as well as our own internal investigation will then be used to determine what happens next. Kind Regards Bronwen (GA)
  6. I try vary my route so that I am always alert. Seems to help.
  7. What about your rear tail light. That's way more NB. Most people have nice front lights but a small tail light.
  8. Hope he is cycling in heaven right now. Must be a paradise.
  9. It's really very simple. Only pass when it is safe to do so. Today I had some woman behind me hooting while I cycled in the middle of my lane in order to protect myself and my fellow cyclists in front of me (the left hand side of the road is full of potholes etc). When we got to the stop street we pulled over and she screamed past and then stopped a couple metres ahead as traffic was bad. People just need to chill out. I also used to drive like a maniac but realised its silly. You accelerate hard and then brake hard a couple of metres ahead. Bus drivers need to chill. They tend to accelerate as if they are in a drag race only to brake shortly after that. I guess most of the GA drivers don't care as it's not their petrol of their brakes. And most work vehicles are driven the same, if it's not yours then why respect it. We need to change this mentality. The main men at GA should track acceleration etc. This will make the roads much safer.
  10. Email: complaints@gabs.co.za Or tell your friend to and include as many details as possible.
  11. Cycle in the middle of the road when needed in order to save your life in dangerous situations (obviously cycle fast so that you don't hold up loads of traffic). Once out of that situation say thanks to the person who you slowed down.
  12. With my RCS card. Jokes, the cash saved from cycling everywhere and not filling up my car often with petrol.
  13. I would go with the Axis. Better spec.
  14. They are. Generic responses, possibly even automated. Wondering whether my email was even read.
  15. That is why I hold onto all my stuff. Often cyclists will drop their bike on top of yours etc or balance it against somebody elses. Most might not have a problem with this but I sure would so I rather just hold onto my stuff to prevent anything from happening. But I do have OCD.
  16. I am honestly very worried. Have many friends in my club who live in that area and commute daily.
  17. Agreed, I often see cyclist swerving while cars sit behind them. If they swerved while the car was passing then ...
  18. Email sent: To whom it may concern, I am a passionate cyclist and enjoy cycling but right now the GA buses are putting my life in danger. The drivers regularly speed (I cycle past the Ronderbosch Common everyday) and cut corners often mounting the pavement. As the GA buses are carrying people the driver should be driving cautiously as he is putting other people’s lives at risk. I would appreciate it if you were to please speak to the drivers and tell them to slow down and obey the road rules. I hear one life was taken this morning. I don’t know who was at fault but other incidents have occurred whereby the GA drivers were defiantly at fault. I pray that a GA bus never kills me as I would leave behind many loved ones. I cycle with two rear lights that flash and I do cycle as safely as possible but I am still very scared whenever a GA bus comes past me. I hope this finds you well.
  19. Condolences, wonder if I knew the person... Decided to get a magshine tail light last night. We need to try be as visible as possible.
  20. Ooooh, it looks so nice!!!
  21. Drink water. Your body will get used to it. It's more important and beneficial to have a proper diet. Eat properly the night before and in the am and you will be fine on water. I used to bonk when I first started using water but have now adapted.
  22. Um, do it yourself.
  23. JB, you have saved me a load of cash. From now on I will use normal car oil. I presume the thicker car oil will be better so I will ask the petrol attendants which ones are thicker. I think the older the car the thicker the oil? PS: Thanks Stretch for finding that article.
  24. Hairy can make some extra cash.
