  1. My 1st time in over 10years shooting a gun. Need to practice for the magpies..hahaha .22 , about 50m out on grass embankments, target printed on a A4 page.
  2. Haven't made a cycling purchase in what feels like forever...this to go with my nice bright yellow road helmet Done a few km's already with them, the 1st time out with them I got attached by a bird non stop for about 3 km so I thought it was the glasses that attracted it (wasn't the case)..hahaha.... they aren't as good as my Rudy's to ride with in the early mornings before sunrise (too dark) but they are great in the rain. Somehow it doesn't form those water drops on the lens.
  3. Send me a pair
  4. My team just got our custom design kit for the coming Team Championships starting next weekend here in NZ...my one request were "happieeeeeee colours and socks"
  5. I have the wind for resistance training and the magpies for sprint training now I see one and I pedal my heart out...while saying a bad word or 2!
  6. You don't kill cockroaches when you see them in your house? Or flies? No mozzie plugs in your home? Want me to carry on?
  7. I didn't attack or try to harm him though... He is welcome to stay, just doesn't have to attack anyone I think
  8. Why? They are a pest. There was a little boy attacked out of no where and lost his eye sight in one eye last week.
  9. A bad of NZ....MAGPIE's! Vicious birds that attacks cyclists (and kids etc) . For about 3 kms (1.5km one way) I had to walk through this one birds territory and fight him off with my helmet. It was scary man, he came in full attack multiple times and just didn't want to leave me alone. We are going to go shoot it So I can go ride there again.
  10. I heard about 'new' trails in Muriwai. Apparently they are 'sand' base so dry fast. This is one section which will give you guys an indication to where they are: https://www.strava.com/segments/10926622 I am going to spend some quality time on my road bike in the months to come, but will be keen for a group ride so will join on my mtb if it will be that type of ride..
  11. From work to home (in the rain)...
  12. http://ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/articles/news/2016/09/tsunami-sirens-set-to-be-tested/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ourakl_edm&utm_content=Tsunami%20sirens%20set%20to%20be%20tested%20%7C%20OurAuckland&utm_term=&uid=
  13. Dirty Sanchez - Wellington (I think)
  14. Probably THE biggest damn thing I am struggling with in NZ is taking my damn shoes off at the door......................... FLIP MAN! I have had plenty of gentle whispers in my ears already "your shoes...." while the head of the house is making his/her way down the passage.... Chirps by owners of other houses goes "we have nice clean carpets" or "I assume you own a carpet cleaner"
  15. I don't know if you are really referring to the actual weather here or figuratively speaking, but riding into work this morning was DAMN cold! The coldest of all my rides in this far, last week was so pleasant. I think we need Trump to come build us a wall to protect us from the Southerly winds ..
  16. Been in my NZ job for 3 months today....WOW feels WAY longer! I have discovered plenty of good and bad things (only in the last 2 weeks) of my company and the people around here. It is VERY 'black vs white' (in a non racial way). You get the people that work, the ones that goes the extra mile and the ones that wants to improve themselves and the company and then then you get the lot that heavens alone know what they actually do, there's scary amount of them here. "Non-technical Engineers"...yip, that is what they are called...WTH? This place is so big, if you are under a 'lazy ladder climbing' manager it is easy to disappear in the labs or gardens without anyone knowing for the whole day. The reason why I love it here is because there's PLENTY to learn. Since I have been here I have operated machinery I never in my life even saw in real life not even talking about operating myself (yip, I have no nails left = hands on job); extruders with corrugators, laser cutters, CNC machines, molding machines...all this without having to fill in a piece of paper 'signing my life away' or someone else peeking over my shoulder. Currently my colleague and I are having to deal with loads of company politics though with the project we are working on. I am a Process Engineer here (the only chick in the Process team ), but now the Product teams are fighting to get their hands on our project since we got some things right. They even invited him and I to some brainstorming meetings regarding some of their projects and now my manager has told us to not entertain them because they all have their own man power etc etc....... flip never had to deal with this sorts of things at a job. Back home we were always too few people in Development; 1 person doing 3 peoples work, here they have the head count, but it seems it is more like a company advertising tool "we have SO many engineers, from SO many different countries, SO many woman, etc etc" but if I look around, not many are thinkers and do'ers! LOADS of socializing. I think I am getting my 1st bug.... Felt a cold sore appearing last night, it was there this morning.... I have been quite busy ad stressed lately so hopefully just lack of sleep and depletion of energy other than a proper bug.
  17. So who from here is going back to SA soonest (for a visit of course)?
  18. THANK YOU again Wayne for adding to my new life/NZ adventure by lending me your SUP! I need to get one now to get practice in for our Mellons Bay 2 Waiheke Island trip For if you forgot your ball at home for your dog...
  19. Building it in SA started planning it a while ago so just continued with it (now I have a holiday home abroad) Hahaha
  20. Not riding related, but it is taking my riding monies away from me.....sand, stone, cement, bricks, steel, etc etc
  21. Rode into work this morning without needing a front light....the sun is up much earlier Happy spring guys!
  22. I think I might have a slight advantage though.... I have a kiwi by my side showing me the ropes and who has made it easy for me to settle in. Letting go of my complete independence was a struggle at 1st though, but it has been worth it and seeing the work ethic this lad has is incredible.....I swear he has more hours in a day than the rest of us!
  23. View from my room window this morning...taken with my phone (no filter added)
  24. No way! Maybe it is something in your house...
