  1. Ah okay. I have a friend in Stanmore Bay He works for Oricle USA (currently in Bermuda though) and he is always on my case about "stopping by" on my rides up north.
  2. Where do you live? Do you have a road bike? I often (basically every weekend) do rides all around and because I am lazy too, most these days are +-70km. Some of my next ones include a few over night ones though, like to Puhoi pub one day, next day back, To piha and a bit around there and then one day trip to the Coromandal and ferry back. A friend and I want to do a North Island roadie (so north to Wellington over a few days) as soon as we can find the time (sadly only looking to be end of Jan only due to leave restrictions and other commitments). BEST way to see the country for sure I would say.
  3. Anyone here keen for an epic road ride? Okay okay you can do it on a MTB too, it will just have to be pedaled at at least 24km/h... It will be around Auckland.....literally (I might be changing the route a bit to not cut into Auckland so much when heading onto the NW- Cycleway) ...Clockwise direction in mind and it includes a ferry ride. Anyone that wants to join for maybe a part of it too is welcome...It will probably happen one weekend in July...(add the 2 below together, Strava doesn't want to use the ferry!)
  4. I will be lying if I say I don't miss the Spruit at times, I think about it at least once a week. I think how many miles I rode there and by luck or blessing alone nothing ever happened to me - even more scary when I think how and where I always rode alone there (even after sunset) - flip! If that place can become/stay safe it is a gem for sure! I for sure have it to thank for keeping my sanity through my years in JHB! Miss all the people I got to have quick 1min chats too alone my rides there - sheesh plenty of which now live outside SA...You, Patches, Pieter etc....I still have to meet people here on my 'general' routes.
  5. I covered a bit of miles this weekend (by foot and bike) but didn't stop to take many photo's this time around. Love the freedom of being outside! Man it makes my soul happy being outside just covering miles on my bike!
  6. Sheesh how was this weekends weather...won't say it is winter, was out with short sleeves on all 3 days having adventures and doing what I love of course! Almost missed the last ferry back from Rongitoto yesterday, we went to Motutapu too even though it was actually closed due to landslides; I was with an Irish lad and they don't care about breaking rules it seems...haha ... and he is very fit (won the half IM here in Auckland a few weeks back and a 2:35ish marathon runner) so summiting Rongitoto wasn't nearly enough for him (even after a morning swim session). Hanging out with people like this just makes one realize how little affect the weather in Auckland/NZ really has on an active lifestyle, he is out and about everyday, most days twice a day and it is really embarrassing / humiliating how unfit I am in comparison..... and it is all excuses driven I would say! Just random pictures from my weekend (mostly from Rongitoto and Motutapo):
  7. Look for companies in New Plymouth, there are tons in those type of industries. I was approached by one a couple of weeks back looking for a Mech Eng in Project terms actually...
  8. Just because I love colours of course This will get me going in the mornings in this winter for sure. https://www.noxgear.com/tracer360
  9. Around the north of Auckland and a ferry into town (one may not ride over the bridge)...sooooo many awesome full on cycle 'high ways' next to the car highways.. ^^Just for cyclists ^^my bike in the ferry
  10. Yip! I went for a 94km ride, I'm still buzzing. One want to find something to complain about, one will find it everywhere. Excuses also exist everywhere.
  11. To the Auckland Airport and from the East 2 West 2 East coast through some pretty areas I have never been
  12. Did your mom go with you?
  13. I am thinking of running into work (or maybe home this afternoon), then carrying a phone becomes a pain. Anyone else here run to/from work?
  14. I bring a whole weeks worth of working clothes in on a Monday, then take it back on a Friday. So Tuesday to Thursdays I have no backpack
  15. The usual hayleyearth My feed is mostly I guess about all the different things I get to do (mostly riding) in different parts of the globe. I might have a selfie or 2 on there , but it's only if I am on some or other adventure/ride alone and to show it is actually me there and not taking a picture from someone else I guess
  16. I am grateful to call New Zealand my home! We are soooo lucky!
  17. I ALWAYS catch a bug when travelling back from an overseas trip! Somehow something got into my mouth (a few sores in there) and I have the normal head cold - huge headaches, blocked and runny nose, itchy ears and down the throat, glassy watery sensitive eyes. Lets see if my normal tactics can get rid of this one in the next day or 2! Haven't been on my bike which now feels like forever!
  18. Tomorrow I am leaving NZ for the 1st time since I arrived (just over 10months ago). Visiting my sis in the US for 2.5 weeks. CAN.NOT.WAIT.to see her! Damn I miss my family. I am going to visit the Intense factory (10th April) and Santa Cruz (14th April) while I am there Then I can say that I have been to all my favorite bike manufactures in person (did YT in 2014). Hope to get a bike ride or 2 in around there, but our main aim will be to catch some west coast waves Then we will fly over to the east coast for the last 8 days. Weird how I will be able to 'relive' 6 hours of my life on Friday the 7th....... I leave here at 21:00 and land in LAX at 15:00 (same day) ............
  19. It is suppose to get oozy...that means it stays 'wet' and hence skin don't dry out and form hard (brown) scab and then skin heals from inside outwards and hence less (to no) scarring...
  20. Ah man, the last 2 weeks has been unreal! And Crazy! Toooo many beers too! flip!
  21. What challenge are you guys doing?
  22. I went for a ride with some of the Santa Cruz boys on Saturday, Cedric Gracia, Iago Garay, etc...
  23. Enduro Wolrd Series Rotorua- spectating by bike..
  24. Difficult to answer that if there isn't more information like below... I did not go look at what Emirates travel policy is... 30kg checked in and 7kg carry on? Are you getting a container of things sent later or is what you fly with all you are bringing to NZ? Is biking your life (in the sense that you are more attached to your bike than some of your shoes or clothes etc)? I am a bit bike crazy, so I will literally just fly anywhere with my bike always the 1st thing I pack - I don't care about the rest. I fly over with my bike, so I packed the box (cardboard one) till max check in weight with the most valuable things that would get me riding this side (multitool, tyre levers, pump, shoes...I didn't even bring a camelback, I bought one this side), then my carry on I packed ONLY clothes (no shoes or liquids or or) ...I got my mom to make me a light material bag to the dimensions that the airline specify and you will be surprise how much clothes you can pack in 7kg. Fly with your heaviest clothes on - so your winter jacket, closed (leather? or sneakers or work) shoes, favorite heaviest jeans etc). In your carry on pack the clothes you value most, or will need most, so maybe work clothes and a set of riding clothes. Now your bike box......bike in 1st, then then riding shoes, then tools as above, then you start loading more 'general' things, one more set of riding clothes, more casual clothes...till you us to 30(?) kgs. But like I said, it is hard to say if we don't know what all you have to/want to bring over and if you have a container coming or not..
