  1. So when's this group ride? I might bring a MTB noob with....
  2. oh oh....I've been on that trail before
  3. I am very very happy for team NZ!
  4. Yesterday I started getting happy again, longer days are on its way back! This morning however I realized with freezing fingers on the bike that winter is only coming around now and I might have to invest in long finger roadie gloves otherwise I will just waist time standing in the basement at work waiting for feeling in my fingers to come back for me to be able to unclip my helmet Lekker weather though thus far this week
  5. To work and back Stunning evening here tonight. .. Edit: spelling
  6. Rode in with a backpack this morning with the weeks clothes and some snacks, about 4kgs Id say... my ave speed was about 4km/h slower....I think this just motivated me to loose some weight
  7. No phones allowed on set, but I will let you guys know when the scenes will be out on the series.
  8. I'm on a series set in Woodhill... Just had my 1st scene shot, how random is that
  9. I don't have a weekend away planned soon again, so open to go on a week-by-week notice for now. Time is also not that important to me, if it is after 9:30am I might be tempted to ride there with my roadie 1st though You giving my MTB a lift Wayne?
  10. I was down mainly for the game too, can't remember much of it... He he.... Was distracted and didn't watch much actually! (Damn the beer ques)
  11. Ah you guys are talking nonsense! This weekend I realized again how much I suck and how unfit I am (I HATE HILLS!!)! Woodhill ride will be good with you guys! I'm in! Edit: I was in Rotorua (again) this weekend (with both bikes) The only Enduro I did this weekend:
  12. I'm riding there the Wednesday most of the day (if not raining) But let me know, I am back in MTB-ing action now again. On another note... Just booked my flight home for December!!
  13. Around the lake in the pissing rain...it felt like bullets hitting my face/eyes on descents. This is my 1st time on the other side of Lake Rotorua... Looking towards Rotorua
  14. That's why Wayne and I added our part to at least bring the average down for hubbers - Nick adds even more to this with his location even more south (east) in Auckland!
  15. So how many km's/week does one have t run to be classified as a "cyclist with a running problem"? 30.. 40...+?
  16. You have no idea how many times this week I have been informed about the contradictions.... This must be one of my favorite: "INTJs know what they know, and perhaps still more importantly, they know what they don't know." http://typelogic.com/intj.html
  17. INTJ ......... that Myers-Briggs don't lie
  18. I think I have mentioned quite a few bads here, I definitely put the non-happy side of things on my Facebook for all the people constantly asking how my experience are and if I would recommend the move etc. Inside me is a constant rollercoaster, because I struggle to fit in here so much more than anywhere else I have been (although it is a general issue of mine). I don't have soft edges when facing a strange world; and even more so in the work place. My approach is firm straight lines, these people here, they need silk gloves and time and patience and kissing ass...There is no drive, no urgency and it is driving me insane, everything is touchy-feely-feelings-bullsh1t...I cant see how the All Blacks are such hard men to be honest. To get away from feeling like this I go ride (mostly, sometimes walk/run) and because this is a cycling forum and a thread about NZ I tend to post more about those things, but it definitely does not take away that I go through moments of struggle every single day (and it has been 1 year and 2 weeks for me here now). Do I think about moving back? Never. Is there some other country I want to move to now? Not yet. Do I wish some things could be different here? On a daily basis. I will say this over and over again - a move like this is not easy. Even if it was very very easy/comfortable done for me by the company - the admin was taken care of, but the emotions is my own thing to deal with and that is where the personality (and support system) comes into play. For each person it will be different. And it is what you want to make of it I guess.
  19. As he said.... his DAUGHTER guys....#justsaying Yes, it's hard to believe that little one is in big school already. Now I'm off to go have some red wine work my dinner, enjoy work guys Wednesday was pretty good!
  20. "Ugly OF the family" I would say, not "for". I would take no 'short cuts' to get my family here even if I want to have them here with me so so badly.
  21. Maybe just maybe I saw the 'one-liner-headline' a few minutes ago and thought I would like to investigate the full story before commenting..... I know from many many stories here (my own even) that NZ's healthcare system is top notch and hence I wonder what is the full story behind it? Does the parents have jobs and pay tax etc, what was/is the conditions of their work visa (if any) etc..... I know MANY MANY south Africans that are coming over and trying their luck with 'freebies' - I don't think that is fair. Until I have time to read into the whole story, I wont make one liner comments.
  22. Ah okay. I have a friend in Stanmore Bay He works for Oricle USA (currently in Bermuda though) and he is always on my case about "stopping by" on my rides up north.
  23. Where do you live? Do you have a road bike? I often (basically every weekend) do rides all around and because I am lazy too, most these days are +-70km. Some of my next ones include a few over night ones though, like to Puhoi pub one day, next day back, To piha and a bit around there and then one day trip to the Coromandal and ferry back. A friend and I want to do a North Island roadie (so north to Wellington over a few days) as soon as we can find the time (sadly only looking to be end of Jan only due to leave restrictions and other commitments). BEST way to see the country for sure I would say.
  24. Anyone here keen for an epic road ride? Okay okay you can do it on a MTB too, it will just have to be pedaled at at least 24km/h... It will be around Auckland.....literally (I might be changing the route a bit to not cut into Auckland so much when heading onto the NW- Cycleway) ...Clockwise direction in mind and it includes a ferry ride. Anyone that wants to join for maybe a part of it too is welcome...It will probably happen one weekend in July...(add the 2 below together, Strava doesn't want to use the ferry!)
