  1. Wow ,,, what a team ! Great on all the sponsors and people making this happen . It is amazing to see this type backing for woman's racing in SA . They sorely need it .
  2. Exciting racing from the ladies today . Hats off to W2W for having a woman’s race and a men’s race on different weekends. It gives the ladies a fair share of the coverage and gives us 2 weekends of lekke racing to follow .
  3. This is gonna be an interesting race to watch . It's nice to see so many contenders in the ladies field . Fantastic that W2W gives the ladies their own race to enjoy . Good luck to all .
  4. What a breakaway by Imbuko(Type) Dev !! Lets hope the legs hold . Would be awesome for the Saffas to take a stage win .
  5. I think you are correct . Also , it was SA Cup this weekend , so all of the XCO racers were in Parys doing XCO .
  6. Okay , am I the only one missing something here ? Where's the shock ?
  7. People also forget the bike you ride is very dependent on where you live. Your Stumpy might be a very lekke bike to ride if you stay in Stellies or maybe Karkloof , but you are gonna hate it if you live in for example the North West Province. As much as I would love to ride trails every day , reality is that that’s the exception and not the norm for most South Africans. Most of us have to do with 100’s of kay’s of gravel grinding for every once in a while of going on holiday or long weekend of trail riding . So , would you rather be slightly under biked for the maybe 10% of the riding you do , or over biked for the real 90% you do ?
  8. Flip that looks delicious enough to take your chances with Covid on an international flight for .
  9. Original song is not really what I would call a classic , but the video is excellent . It must have taken a heck of a long time to sync. https://youtu.be/Oa0tNR2LL64
  10. If I read the media statement from Specialized correctly , the withdrawal was not so much about them being worried about catching the virus at the event as it was them worrying about getting back to their families in their own countries ?! My worry would also be that there might be travel bans in place in a week's time ( who knows ?) and I might be stuck not being able to get back to my family for a month ??
  11. I think I found my next bike !
  12. Does anybody know if we can download the routes on our Garmin's for navigation and profiles ?
  13. I’m sorry , I am not following you ? Are you being sarcastic with me , or am I missing something?
  14. Aaaa , now I get your angle .... You wanna find a cure for the population problem of the world !???? Seriously though , Odi , you give too much credit to the human race if you think the majority of the population might be educated enough to know what nutrients their children needs . A vegan diet for children is not a good thing when you take the general population into account .
  15. I think most of those problems are actually caused by over eating ( mostly sugar )and under exercising .
  16. With respect , I disagree with you that meat consumption is responsible for obesity, high cholesterol , heart disease or any of the medical problems you mention . Maybe eating too much meat might cause those , but eating or drinking too much of almost anything might cause those problems. I don’t know how you can draw the conclusion that eating meat causes those problems ?
  17. Same as this case in Australia. https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/22/australia/australia-vegan-baby-intl-hnk-trnd/index.html 4,9kg at 19 months
  18. Well ,it might not be exclusively for the "privileged few" that live in an environment were they have access and the means to choose to be vegan . But it sure does help to be affluent and live in a first world country if you wanna be choosy about what you eat , doesn't it ?
  19. Not to derail this thread , but being able to read , having electricity and technology to debate on the interwebs AND the free time to do so , and riding bicycles for fun - yes I think we are pretty privileged . And that was not said as a defence - I was pointing out that you are contradicting yourself .
  20. I did say it was the short answer . The long answer I have explained in previous posts .
  21. You know that every person reading on this thread is actually privileged right ?
  22. Kidding aside, I have lived on a farm almost my whole life ( except school and studies ). I have raised and slaughtered my own animals , hunted and killed wild animals to eat them and drank milk , made cheese and butter from my own animals my whole life . I very much agree with you that people should be more aware of where their food comes from , but I don't agree with your view on the nutritional side of being vegan vs being omnivorous. I am also not in agreement with you that us as humans consuming animal products is the reason our planet is getting f%$ked . That I believe we as humans are doing by other means - mostly population growth ? But that's part of another discussion .
  23. The short answer : I enjoy my meat too much .
  24. In what 3rd world country country will a mother and child have access to sufficient sources of plant based foods ?? You’ve got to be kidding right ? And I live in Africa , if you move anywhere out of your major cities here , you are in the 3rd world . So this is not a “straw man argument “ at all. It’s real.
