Hi all..some advice please Looking to get a new wheelset for my 29er.. Im in JHB, can anyone recommend a good builder, the likes of cajees and Solomons have good deals, but im suspect of their building quality and expertise. I have a budget of 5k.. what and where would you recommend?

100%..if you know what you talking about, haggle with them and get a good deal an all..but never go back !! and then support someone like your LBS who knows how maintain, service and repair.

broke a chain today, riding at Teak..never ever happened to me before..my second ride on this chain, so i guess bad fitment was the problem. I wasnt changing gears at the time, just cruising along..?? what is the best thing to do in a case like this, have a spare chain?

im in the same boat as you, although ive been riding for a few years on a 26.. my choice so far is Giant XTC with immediae upgrade on the rear hub...and then new wheels in a little while. the article in bicyling mag is good reference but check all thei websites for actual goupset specs etc.. also, the giant seems to be the only 1 with a Fox fork in that price bracket. and by the way, there is no stock, so i have to wait now.
