  1. Can anyone give me an idea or pricelist for Pyga builds? Say with full xt and full xtr and with crest wheels and Fox factory suspension front and back? and is everyone riding a Pyga happy with them?Any issues? and the weight of the aluminum not to bad?

I've got a 110 and I has to be the most reassuring confidence inspiring bike I've ever ridden. As a newbie 2 years I sometimes find myself in situations in which my skills are not Most comfortable and this is where the Pyga steps up and takes over, the suspension is amazing and despite the weight it's very well distributed so you don't feel as heavy. For me the best part of the Pyga is the solid robust design That will not let you down under any circumstances.

  2. Sorry mate hate to break it to you. Just built a dream bike, and just picked whatever I desired.

I've made a post under build projects, you can check it there.

Basically, pyga pascoe, xt brakes, x01 groupset, flow rims on hope hubs. Aim was also for strength more than weight, but couldn't break 13kg. Was over 60k.

My other bike is carbon tallboy, xtr etc. 12.2kg.

Probably not even possible to get to 11.5, let alone on a budget. I'd say forget about weight, get the parts you really want and just ride it.

How do you find the pyga compared to the tall boy

  3. Guys,

I used the Pascoe yellow as the background of the P as you can see.

so, come on those that haven't pm me saying you want to join/want one.

    Hi G

Not all Pyga are pascoes, therefore you should have gone with a more neutral color representative of all Pygas. It sure does look good. Just my 2c.

  4.

I agreed with you up until that point, I know the burn down the guard house comment is made in jest, but I do hope the suggestions of bribing someone to do their job is said with tongue firmly in cheek.

    - It's a precarious situation, it's a public road and they may not prohibit anyone from access.

    - it's the security guards job to control access - be it by car, motorbike, bicycle or on foot.

    - how often are we talking here? Are you whizzing by every 5 , 10 or 30 minutes?

    - you can put in a complaint to the security company but you run the risk of retaliation. Sad to have to cower but reality, he knows where you live, when , what you ride etc.

    - you could ask the residents association to have a word - and not mention specifics to protect yourself

    - you could extend an olive branch - I assume it's one specific guy - go introduce yourself, tell him you want to start over.explain the whole schlepp of clipping out etc, tell him your compromise of you opening the boom yourself vs him doing it. If he's non responsive then by all means .... But I'd try that first.

I'm in a boomed area, the first day I moved in the guy tried to get a coke out of me, I told him he should buy me one, he tried it one more time after that and he stopped. Please don't fuel that kind of mentality.

I"m lucky I can get out of the area without them having to lift the boom but they do it anyway but that's cause they've seen me coming home with my tail between my legs so many times either walking my bike or banged up and bruised - they feel sorry for me,

    Good luck.

I understand your approach, for me it's R5 per week invested in a peaceful stress free ride and more importantly in a safe environment.

The suggestion of a streetwise 2 was a peace offering to heal an already damaged relationship.

My philosophy in life ' you attract more bees with honey than vinegar'

Right now the ' F*ck you, F*ck you too' approach is not working so maybe it's time to try 'Howzit John how you doing?

  5.

But I think that the point he is making ... you see an 'unbelievable' deal and you investigate ....only to be misled

I hear you and understand your frustration, I think the following approach has been mentioned many times on the Hub, ' if it sounds too good to be true, it often is'

As regular hubbers we have an idea of the cost of components so can we honestly Believe a retailer to sell anything at 50% below rsp? It's marketing buddy. You and many others opened their site based on this advert and ok granted May not have purchased the brakes but others may have bought something else of interest and the company achieved the desired outcome.

  6. OP may feel he has right of passage in this boomed area and speaking to the homeowners, security co, council etc is not a bad approach but the amount of effort and time required to me will be most frustrating...

If you take 5 min chatting to the guard in question in your car will have far greater immediate impact, all he wants is to be treated with respect and dignity, a streetwise 2 and every week mayb a small coke as gummi mentioned can only help your cause.

  7.

Those were the days when the TDF was a lot more interesting, days without the skyborgs

Agree the TDF was exciting and based on the Sky lack of performance I'm hoping the rest of the field can give them stick. I really don't have anything against the Sky boys, it's just the last 2 TDF was like watching paint dry it was so boring.

  8.

The tour de Suisse and Dauphine has yielded some rather unexpected but very deserving winners, Froome and Wiggo were expected to win but their performance were surprisingly poor, Contador is looking very strong.

A few weeks ago I had almost conceded the TdF to team Sky and a pretty boring very much like it's been over the last 2 years but I think it's going to be very exciting especially with these performances from other GC contenders.

Do you guys think froome will have sufficient time to prepare for Tdf after dauphine and get back the strength he had in 2013 on the mountains.

  9. Hi

It was disapp that the race started so late on dstv we only got to see the last 25km. I was happy for talansky esp when he. Burst into tears when it was confirmed he was the winner, was sad for conto but was very impressed with his form pity he left the chase to that late point. Yes it appeared to be tactical by team sky to slow down the peleton to sabotage conto chance of winning the race I think they knew froome was broken and wouldn't be able to mk any challenge for the title.

Thru out the race I hv never seen an organized saxo tinkoff support team for conto..he was shadowing froome, the entire dauphine was controlled by team sky and this led to him losing the title.

I must say I am now Looking forward to the TDF it's going to be a cracker, yes will be great if other teams had some really good GC contenders.

Nibili hasn't impressed me he seems to lose steam early on climbs.

  10. I need to look into this.. wonder if Rudy, do prescription transition lenses..

I wear contacts. . But sometimes the dust can mess around with them.

I have the normal rydon with the inserts as your prescription changes you can change the lense on the inserts, due to the sunglasses being the standard lenses you can interchange to take the photochromic lenses or dark polarized lenses.

  11. If we going to be traditionalist About cycling then we are going to lose the publics interest and ultimately sponsorship which directly correlates to prize money.

Let's look at cricket according to purists 5 day tests are the only way the game should be played however as a spectator watching paint dry is more exciting. Cricket administrators realized this and the sport was resurrected with the introduction of T20 cricket.

Formula 1 was the same hence rule changes every 2 years to allow innovation to cars and ultimately public interest due to rivalry.

The Tdf is definitely the greatest cycling race on the planet we should hv the greatest cyclist competing for this title.

  12. I thank you guys for the responses..these are your excuses..

    1. Calendars - due to the grand tours happening over the 4 month period

    2. Cycling is a Team sport.

My response - why does the grand tours have to only be in Europe, golf, tennis is found thru-out the world and I'm not referring to the every week event but the Wimbledon and Master type events that the Tdf can be equated to. I do empathise with the cyclists who push themselves for 3 Weeks 6 days a week 5 hours a day...but unless there is a great rivalry or international sports person appeal like a Tiger Woods or Lance Armstrong viewership, sponsorship and prize monies will unfortunately reflect accordingly.

Wimbledon total prize money in 2013 £22 560 000 with winner receiving £1 600 000 person knocked out in the first round receiving £ 23 500

    Master total prize money $8 000 000 winner receives $1 440 000 50th placed person receives $20 500

Le Tour total prize money €2 000 000 winner €450 000 19th person €1000 , I'm sorry to say this Is absolutely pathetic.

The Tdf race over the 3 weeks is way more taxing on the body than the masters and Wimbledon combined yet the prize money is a only about 7% of their total.

Yes there are many tweets about the rivalry of contador to froome but the true rivalry on the road has not materialized to spark any public interest as would a froome vs Quintana showdown.

Teams yes there should be support of the best team member capable of winning but the decision on who it must be should be, made on the rd, based on capabilities and skill not a boardroom decision..I have to refer to 2012 Tdf and question whether wiggens really was the strongest and best rider in the field unfortunately it was team orders and we will never know...2014 team orders have been to support froome, would he be the best rider, that unfortunately we will never know as this is also predetermined hence lack of excitement and wiggo/froome rivalry.

  13. I must say I'm really sad the giro has ended and glad Quintana champion but I'm sorry if I may offend some hubbers but can we really say he has won the race against the best cyclists in the world.

Yesterday while the giro final stage was ridden the moto gp and French open was being played, in moto gp Marquez and Lorenzo had a classic fight at muggello till the last bend of the race what excitement..the French open had all the worlds top players competing for the title...

Cycling races seems to be watered down and stinks of collusion by team management. Me as a cycling supporter want to see Quintana vs froome vs wiggens going at each other hammer and tongs to the very last climb so that at the end of the race the person standing at the top deserves to be there. Please don't think for 1 minute I don't appreciate wht Quintana has achieved but I have to question what it would have been like if froome was also competing. I hear that NQ is not part of the Tdf and wiggens is to support froome...WTF!!!! Why the heck can't the sky team go at each other as Hamilton and Rosberg do..make it exciting and the best man wins.

Why team collusion u may ask, it's like giro was given to Movistar in exchange for the Tdf to sky. Froome and NQ are the best riders in the world at the moment but not competing against each other.

Why can't the organisers uci or whoever decides dates change them to allow for the top riders to compete in all these grand tours every year without any compromise.

All other sports allow fr classic rivalry Borg vs McEnroe, Schumacher vs rest, Rossi vs rest, Armstrong vs rest, Ali vs Frazier etc. why should we as cyclists supporters in 2014 and who knows how much longer not experience this rivalry.

For me the Tdf is going to be great to watch as il always sit in awe of these supermen but it's not to hv the challenge and excitement of wondering who going to win...which to me is very sad

  14. Moto gp races this year has been pretty boring upfront, but yesterday performance I'm hoping may have ignited a rivalry that will inject some on the edge of your seat last lap drama going forward. Wow Jorge and Marquez wht excitement, Rossi unfortunately can't keep up with the youngsters but 300 moto gp races well done. Although the season winner may almost have been decided I'm hoping for lots more drama in the coming races.

  15. Hi!

Question to the guys with Pygas.
