  1. I'm really sorry about your ordeal, I know we can't always be grateful and thankful for sparing our lives as we really shouldn't have to go thru these experiences at all. Take care and I wish you a speedy recovery.
  2. So what was the eventual cost of the build...we promise not to tell the mrs.
  3. Get well soon buddy, I'm glad you will have a full recovery after your fall it sure sounded pretty nasty. Take things easy during your recovery period and please be patient.
  4. No bikes or cycling kit unfortunately, however have completed my dream home a double storey with a man cave below it with views over table bay harbour and I obstructed views of table mountain reserve.
  5. It could also mean that you a better cyclist than golfer. I played golf off a single figure handicap and belonged to rondebosch for many years and always carried my bag, the intensity of workout climbing to tokai mast can never be compared to a round of golf even if I carry my bag and inhalf the time required for the cycle. I think I will definitely pick up the clubs again in about 15 years time when I'm closer to 50 or 60. For now the exhilaration and intense workout ( increased heart rate) Within the time I receive from cycling, golf will never Offer me.
  6. http://www.fobusholster.com/images/products/gl2dph.jpg I have this holster and firearm and i have it under my cycling jersey on a comfy belt. I'm sorry I work too hard for my toys (Scott foil10 and Pyga) and refuse to be a helpless victim to those spineless f@ckers who prey on innocent cyclists.
  7. Stunning bike build Going to be a great project to watch especially with your detailed pics, well done.
  8. I know this is a long shot but what can we as cyclists do to highlight to these challenges.. If I also recall Helen zille is pro cycling and a few years ago they proposed the city be cycle friendly with many bike lanes leading into the city and the inner city would be a huge cycle only zone, if this is their vision it's never going to be successful with the risk gettin to the cbd. Are we as cyclists doing enough to make our frustrations known to the people who can make a difference. We need a mass mobilization and a memorandum be handed to Aunty Patty on our challenges. We as tax payers can demand a response and action plan on how to make our roads safer.
  9. Hi Wasn't an mp mugged along this route a few years ago when he tried to highlight the safety of cycling along the bike lanes, I remember they managed to track his belonging inn thru his cell phone gps, wouldn't it be prudent to contact this mp in the wc offices that has experienced these challenges and also the position to highlight the plight of cyclists and power to get answers from the responsible parties. Just a thought..
  10. Hi I hear the arguments from many on the speeds that needed to justify the purchase of a aero bike I'm ur very average weekend warrior and I had a typical road bike in a Tarmac pro which was great till I got a cervelo s2 wow I felt I was flying on the cervelo which I had for a year and 2 years ago I bought the Scott foil 10 which I currently ride, the stiffness which translates to power transfer to wheels crank etc is amazing, yes it is slightly firmer than the Tarmac or other rd bikes but I call it the 'whee' factor is second to none, you have more control confidence due to the stiffness. I don't have a problem riding my Foil for 5 hours or at times longer no more of an issue than a traditional bike. Look at the end of the day up u must lve the look of your bike, do your research of reviews on all options and then decide. Personally I love my aero bike and if I was to replace would look at another again
  11. I'm really so sorry to hear this man, I was planning a ride up smits tomorrow morning this is becoming hectic, I guess on the positive side you are well and can cycle another day. It's becoming hectically scary being on the roads lately with these hijacking, it seems as though these ass wipes are also familiar with bike brands to target a pinarello or was it pure coincidence. Does 1 have to go cycling with a firearm, does anyone cycle with a firearm?
  12. I guess my prevail is not as effective in protecting my head it only cost 1800. I wonder what extra protection il get for 2k more.
  13. Shame hope he recovers soon, it sure sounds like a very nasty crash, please keep us posted on his progress.
  14. Hi G Not all Pyga are pascoes, therefore you should have gone with a more neutral color representative of all Pygas. It sure does look good. Just my 2c. Cana

    Baggies

I have the fox baggies, love them, I also use bibs under for added lining. Have fallen with them a lot more durable than the bibs, u get up and dust them off.
  16. I understand your approach, for me it's R5 per week invested in a peaceful stress free ride and more importantly in a safe environment. The suggestion of a streetwise 2 was a peace offering to heal an already damaged relationship. My philosophy in life ' you attract more bees with honey than vinegar' Right now the ' F*ck you, F*ck you too' approach is not working so maybe it's time to try 'Howzit John how you doing?
  17. I hear you and understand your frustration, I think the following approach has been mentioned many times on the Hub, ' if it sounds too good to be true, it often is' As regular hubbers we have an idea of the cost of components so can we honestly Believe a retailer to sell anything at 50% below rsp? It's marketing buddy. You and many others opened their site based on this advert and ok granted May not have purchased the brakes but others may have bought something else of interest and the company achieved the desired outcome.
  18. OP may feel he has right of passage in this boomed area and speaking to the homeowners, security co, council etc is not a bad approach but the amount of effort and time required to me will be most frustrating... If you take 5 min chatting to the guard in question in your car will have far greater immediate impact, all he wants is to be treated with respect and dignity, a streetwise 2 and every week mayb a small coke as gummi mentioned can only help your cause.
  19. Agree the TDF was exciting and based on the Sky lack of performance I'm hoping the rest of the field can give them stick. I really don't have anything against the Sky boys, it's just the last 2 TDF was like watching paint dry it was so boring.
  20. The tour de Suisse and Dauphine has yielded some rather unexpected but very deserving winners, Froome and Wiggo were expected to win but their performance were surprisingly poor, Contador is looking very strong. A few weeks ago I had almost conceded the TdF to team Sky and a pretty boring very much like it's been over the last 2 years but I think it's going to be very exciting especially with these performances from other GC contenders. Do you guys think froome will have sufficient time to prepare for Tdf after dauphine and get back the strength he had in 2013 on the mountains.
  21. Hi It was disapp that the race started so late on dstv we only got to see the last 25km. I was happy for talansky esp when he. Burst into tears when it was confirmed he was the winner, was sad for conto but was very impressed with his form pity he left the chase to that late point. Yes it appeared to be tactical by team sky to slow down the peleton to sabotage conto chance of winning the race I think they knew froome was broken and wouldn't be able to mk any challenge for the title. Thru out the race I hv never seen an organized saxo tinkoff support team for conto..he was shadowing froome, the entire dauphine was controlled by team sky and this led to him losing the title. I must say I am now Looking forward to the TDF it's going to be a cracker, yes will be great if other teams had some really good GC contenders. Nibili hasn't impressed me he seems to lose steam early on climbs.
  22. Olympic cycles have them available for our Cape Town hubbers.
