  1. Oh and don't forget to verify authenticity
  2. If I was a cricket supporter, il ask for the ecb management resignation. I may not be a fan of KP attitude but you can't drop your best batsman for a World Cup, his presence couldn't add to the woes of the team, now who have they got to blame?
  3. What would the financial savings be considering the effort, I recall my first few rides with non ust tyres with slime the burps has me carrying my bike to the car vowed to never go thru that again.. Stan's cost R30 per wheel excluding new tyres at lbs haven't looked back since then..that was 1,5 years ago. Total cost R60. Lets look at economic viability - income 10k per month avar R500 per day over 20 days per month or R50 per hour if i10 hrs in a day t take u 1 hour to mix and fill air u will save R10 excluding costs of raw materials. So it actually costs more in long run as windolene alone is around R15. Y Not worth it rather go ride your bike for at hour of effort.
  4. I'm sorry IMHO this is wrong and unwarranted; your comments in many previous posts before has led me to respect your opinion and reviews on bikes etc but this view posted above has me questioning your credibility and perspectives. yes i agree with the need need to get both sides however there is very little reason or insufficient information shared for you to question the integrity of the Andrew's post, and the basis being that he bought 2 x90k bikes without haggling or confirming the legitimacy of goods and oh not to forget very important on this forum, that a person needs to have at least 10 000 posts first. The unfortunate reality is there is a huge amount of trust imparted by us on the reputation of these brands through legitimate dealers, e.g. I wouldn't go into the JOC dealer in Cape Town and look at their Piña with the checklist above I would assume it has already been checked and ratified by the agents, ASG in this case, allowing them distribution rights of their brands just as I'd have confidence to purchase a Rolex at the Waterfront vs Mowbray taxi rank. Yes I may be somewhat naive in my approach by giving people the benefit of the doubt - to me this is a post informing us potential consumers of Cycle Science Broad acres the dangers of implicit trust as experienced by Andrew. Please do not feel the need to justify your comments as you have done in subsequent posts as these are mere humble opinions from a member with sub 1000 posts.
  5. I have a velotex jacket with some fancy high tec fabricate allows breathing but moisture is taken off the skin, really great water proof surface as well.
  6. Hi Great article, please keep us further informed will look for your articles everyday. Well done on your achievements thus far. Enjoy and be safe
  7. Nice one well done bogus. Enjoy Wayne
  8. Dawels if u look at new components 9k for full xt gruppo, 5500 for arch ex wheels, 5700 for fork 2k for seat, stems and bars. 22k for all new top end components, I'm sure u can neg a good deal for pyga frame which will bring yo within 40k budget. Stumpy if you spec similarly will not cost less despite. Initial lower cost.
  9. Get well soon. This is becoming ridiculous the amount of cyclists injured on our roads.
  10. Hi I understand the diff between a1k and 2k helmet is weight rather than actual additional safety benefits. Having said that I have only 1 head and I will do anything to protect it hence bought the best helmets I could afford. I had a giro atmos great helmet now have spez prevail for the rd and a fox 661 for the mountain, these are both fantastic helmets and highly recommended. I have seen the POC which looks pretty interesting.
  11. Hi Dawels I can't comment on the spez I too have a Pyga 110 and it is the most amazing bike Iv ever ridden. Read the comments on the Pyga page and other owners experiences and this may give you an Indication of what you too can expect. Granted it may not be the lightest carbon vs alu etc, patric morewoods bikes are renowned for their suspensions and with the lower centre of gravity the 'extra' weight is least felt. Good luck with your eventual decision, my only advice is rather wait for the bike you decide don't rush for what is easily available, you don't want any regrets.
  12. Hi I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, I have a beautiful rd bike tht is becoming more of a conversation piece when I have guests rather thn fr cycling, reason being I am **** scared to venture onto our rd unless it's in a control race environment. With the combinationof increase in bike jacking and total disregard for cyclist presence on our rds resulting in accidents, my passion may lead to my death or injury, a isk I'm not prepared to take. Get well soon young guns; unless there are changes to the authorities approach to cyclist accidents by motorists, there are going to be more incidents where cyclists response to motorists accidents or near accidents are going to turn violent due their frustration.
  13. Ha ha I hear you but its the vibe with the free chockies and the girls and local people generally in happy mood that was missed. Come on snickers create the a vibe it's. Not abt filling the tour organizers coffers.
  14. This was a big disappointment to me as well, as a fun rider I plan my route around the water points stops e.g. 1. Simons town 2. bar one 3. Lebombo 4 hout bay. The bar one stand is always a great sugar boost and albeit snickers has bought the slot via cycle tour I feel they need to spend some of their big budget with a stand on the day which benefits the riders. Imagine if energade was to 'buy' the marketing sports drnk rights from powerade and gives each rider a 500ml bottle of energade in our race packs but no support on the day on the course. So it's very simple really, either 1 in and 1 out or don't mess with a winning formular so to the cycle tour organizers snickers must step up to the plate and fill the role previously managed by bar one or they give the water point back to Nesle. I'm pretty indifferent snickers or bar one but there must be at least 1 on the bend to misty cliffs
  15. Thanks for the support, have a great ride Tom, be safe out there.
  16. Hi fellow hubbers this week has been extremely difficult for many innocent members of MCC Due the unfortunate incident on Sunday. There are many developmental riders who have only 1 kit available and as a result of the many threats, MCC management has decided not to risk any innocent MCC member possibly being injured and suggested not riding in the club kit. This decision poses a huge dilemma for many of the young members as they do not have alternatives. I and a few hubbers have assisted but there are still many Innocent MCC members who unless receive alternate kit will not be able to participate on Sunday. Please assist wherever you can Regards
  17. We have no reason to believe they are not law abiding citizens.
  18. I'm glad people are beginning to look at scenarios that could have let to this extreme aggressive behaviour. I unfortunately do not have any answers either. These are experienced riders who have had encounters with cars or taxis in the past and to be honest the explanation of the group leader not paying any attention to rd and being surprised by a stationary vehicle being the cause for this fracas, I'm afraid does not sit very well with me. As a peloton leader you are vigilant to potholes manholes etc on the rd to warn those behind inthe group not able to see the rd, so really the probability of the group leader not seeing a Toyota van in his path is almost zero. Guys think about this carefully as a cyclist have you ever taken you eyes off the rd soo long for a stationary vehicle that was always in your path to be visible at the very last minute that you almost collided with this vehicle; bearing in mind they were in a group so would not one of the other riders not warned the leader that he is not paying attention to the rd and he was heading towards this vehicle or was everyone not looking at the rd. This by no means justifies the manner in which they expressed their frustration towards these youngsters, but we need to also be logical in our thinking especially when hearing anecdotal information.
  19. Tubehunter thanks for your support, there are a few on the hub who feels that any cyclists associated with MCC would be 'targeted' by the greater cycling community on Sunday, as I said before it would really be a sad day for cycling if anyone would be injured due to pure associations with MCC or wearing their cycling jersey. I want to emphasise the perpetrators linked to Sunday's incident will be dealt with by 1. The law 2. The PPA. All other MCC members are as innocent as other cyclists belonging to other clubs, why then should they be hurt. If there are any corporates or individuals who would like to assist in sponsoring cycling kit,to the many innocent MCC developmental riders who only have the MCC club kit to ride in on Sunday, for fear of retribution by the greater cycling community or public please feel free to contact the management of MCC; why should i wear anything else while many poor innocent MCC riders don't have that luxury.
  20. Hectic, for the many visitors, welcome to Cape Town, what's the argus without a taste of the Cape Dr.
