  1. Wallee - did you manage to source a remote for the RP2? Im also looking
  2. Ag nee man, moet die arme ou nie so erg moer nie. Sies I dont shop around - I only buy from one place. They know me. They know I spend money there. Even if they dont have what I want I give them time to order it. That builds trust and one day when I need a quick Fri pm repair I know I will go the front of the Q.
  3. Awesome - next guy that calls me fat is reported
  4. jeezz what a bunch of bitchy girls Where's the moderators? Abusive contributions and their writers should be removed I mean honestly a lot of it is funny, until its aimed at oneself of course. Luckily ive just been called fat so far but with my 29er boy its open season
  5. I cant comment on what is good or better but when I did my 29er 'pro' setup the following things were done: Handlebar dropped 3 cm...Stem made longer 2 cm and angle changed so that its also dropped by another 2 cm. So basically no geometric difference from setting up a 26er for 'race' position (although I still need to get to the racing bit). Longer stem made the steering (handling) slower but less twitchy at higher speed but then dropped handlebar improved handing again especially on slower windy tracks (my opinion)thinks its because your chest and arms are more forward over the handlebar I removed the bar-ends simply because I feel clausophobic between trees and feel better with the extra 2 cm clearance Bottom line - I dont think there is any difference in set-up for 29er 26er. Maybe there should be...
  6. So I believe we are getting to the end of the muddy tracks in Gauteng and my Brontager 29-3 TLR did very well, especially muddy conditions. But I would not mind trying out a lighter tyrefor the dry season. Does anyone have any experience with the Raven and Crow tyres?
  7. Richard did my MTB fitting and my knee pain is now gone. Sweet!
  8. Thanx guys for the encouragement and time taken to write suggestions down. In about an hour I try the techniques although the weight loss suggestions wont be implemented today ;-) On a seperate but relevant topic - I must say that I come from a sport (21 years) that is so hard to master that you cannot do it on your own without mentorship. There is no attitude between paragliding pilots. From the beginners to the 'groot honde'...no bickering no giving snotty comments to people asking help. No talking down on someones gear, their fears, their lack of talent or skills. The group will turn their back on poor attitude and that person will not progress anymore. I find this cycling thing where (some) people get offended/personal on something trivial like 26/29er foreign. Where (some) people look down on newbies. In any case - I will keep on asking the obvious questions because (some) people may give me stick, most people here will contribute to my life in a positive way and I love the sport. Robo
  9. I jog in the week but this a good point. How many hours of training is required to ride places like Teak with enjoyment and some reasonable speed?
  10. Ive already lost 8 kg but its too easy to blame weight. It cant be the only limiting factors. My cycling buddy is 115 kg 7 foot something and climbs fast (ps- would really like to see someone calling him fat...no seriously Ill pay big bucks to be there).
  11. OK guys - this will take me a while to type with my 2 fingers so please dont give me a one finger reply. Background info and stats: My MTB bike is 14 kg, Im 87 kg, 41 years old (me, not bike), been riding every week-end about 14 weeks. I eat properly the evening before riding and have oatsbreakfast before the ride. During the ride I will eat a banana plus a protein bar. My resting HR is 64 The basic symptom is this - I can go quite well on the flats...I can do a 30 km trip across northern farms and average 15 km/h. On the flats Im having fun, getting fitter and faster, keeping my heart rate in zone 3 but boy the moment I hit a bit of an incline (> 7 degree) then my heart rate just goes to flatline super quick. Three hills (e.g Teak) and Im done for the day after only 10 km. After that even flat rides and downhills have my heart rate in zone 4, I just dont recover and I just dread the experience. So here is my question...why do I suck? Is it because? 1. Leg strenght not there? 2. Lactic threshold? 3. Fuel? 4. Heart strength? 5. Other? I know the remediating factor is something like go out and ride hills but I really would like to try and be a bit for scientific about tackling this cheers
  12. Jislaaik dit lyk seer. Im sure it burnt like hell
  13. I also went to MTN bike park this time this week. Ive been riding for 13 weeks now. I was GLAD that I had some experience as I thought that it was not for raw beginners. I did all the green tracks, first time nervous and then did them all twice more until I felt confidant that I could do it. Then I tried blue zombie and my confidance levels fell - like me - a lot. But before you moan about MTN go to Teak or Groenkloof - which are quite technical I thought - and opportunities to get hurt is there every on every corner. In conclusion: Green is not for beginners, get some experierence first MTB creates loads of opportunities to moer of Expererience riders dont know what you or I are talking about - so boet - like me - suck it up
  14. Aggies - I am 88 kg and ride my 29er (proudly I may add)with 2 bar in rear and 1.8 in the front (tubeless). Im experimenting now I did one ride 1.8 rear and 1.6 in the front and I think the grip was better...but Im im fairly new in MTB so I lack years of expirience to compare. The formula in my head right now is 2 and 1.8, but for muddy drop by .2 If you go to Stanns website he has a little calculator...it shows PSI but then you just find another website to convert that to Bar. In any case - the numbers it calculates is actually a tad higher than what im riding. My brother in law is also on a 29er tubeless and seems to like higher pressures. Ive searched the web for answers to these questions as well and mostly got 'try and see' - quite frustrating as I dont want a 2 year learning curve. Aggies - if you go lower - please let us know the results please
  15. Hi guys. For MTB - Can I upload a previous route (say from Garmin connect or a ride I previously did) and then have navigation/routing so that I can follow the same route? Trick is it will be offroad so no base map to refer to..only the route. So basically looking for a map which shows the previous route with some go left, go straight, go right icon/directions? I dont want togo to a website and create a route from scratch..merely want to ride one already previously recorded.
  16. OK more info...ps - My knees hurt so that is the main driving force here. Im 174 cm tall. My leg is 79 or 80 cm if the wife measured it correctly. My bike is a 17.5 inc which apparently is correct for MTB Crank is 175 mm My current seatpost offset is 12 mm My saddle is as far back as it can go No I dont realy need a box to mount the bike but I though that was funny :-) With all of this the front of the knee is about 4 cm in front of the spindle ax...where minues 1 cm would be better
  17. OK...so here is the deal. My knees are about 4 cm too far forward. The bike size and the crank size is spot on according to loads and loads of reading I did. My brother in law is on the same bike (size) and 4 cm taller than me and his offset is perfect. So either im out of proportion (Afr: Gebreklik) or what people? The dam saddle is to high already I need a box to mount the bike. God forbid I moer off. Is it possible that my bum is too big and cant move far enough back? Or that the sadle(s) shape prevents me from moving back? (go slow on the fat jokes now Im not fat just big boned. And big muscled for those who is hard of learning) OR what else can it be? (its a 29er) Im getting a 2nd 'pro' setup later this week but Im open to ideas.
  18. Im on a 29er and I still suck. But I dont blame the bike its plush man..plush. My swaer is oppie selle fiets en hy rokof man
  19. Im a full suspension 29er. I can see it in the people's eyes... some try and figure out why the bike looks too big... some says 'its a marketing ploy Ill never change'.
  20. wife my read this..my vote is in
  21. I come from the paragliding world. We also have forums where people would rather be than work. The difference is that NO commerical activities are tollerated unless it specifically says ADVERTISEMENT (actually Adv) in the topic line. If not the person will get flamed big time. It is a system that works great. Robo
  22. Paragliding for me...21 years. MTB now 11 weeks but loving it
