  4. That would be fine, I did +-10hrs a week for 6 weeks before Sani and really enjoyed it. I did have a fair amount of base training before it.
  5. Some ones to get cracking: Route66, Honda Challenge, Sabie experience Wines 2 whales, Sani2c (woot woot)
  6. A mid packers look at Day 1 of Sani2C 2013 - http://wp.me/p1kLGa-tg.
  7. I might be totally blind, but I simply can't find a thread on the wines 2 whales race. I've looked through events and made a couple of searches. In any event, if you're doing the race and want to chat to fellow hubbers rocking the race also, let's just use this thread and post away. If you've done the race before, perhaps post your tips for the newbies and if you're a first timer, just rock your questions here. For more information on the actual race, check out their site - http://wines2whales.co.za/. They are also on twitter - http://www.twitter.com/w2wmtb.
  8. Okay, I'm a chop, those were last years pictures...
  9. Have a look at some of the pictures that have been posted - http://www.bps-mtb.co.za/p/race-day-photos.html?spref=tw
  10. Was VERY well supported. Loved the ride as I train in this area weekly. The shindig at the school after was also very festive. Congrats on a gr8 event!
  11. How can I link back to the video specifically, pretty keen to share it.
  12. Not sure if the route profile has been shared, but here is one that looks pretty close to the real maccoy (marathon) - http://app.strava.com/activities/26578445
  13. Awesome, should be a total jol!
  14. Thanks for the vids and pictures guys. Keep 'em coming!

  19. Here is the painful recap of my race. Rooiberg 2013 - The Hurtlocker - http://fhpienaar.wordpress.com/2013/06/16/mtn-marathon-6-rooiberg-2013-the-hurtlocker/
  20. The sand in the beginning sapped the energy and then the hills started. From "surprise to last surprise" it didn't end.
  21. Completely agreed. The lose rocks meant the downhills were hardwork and didn't allow for much rest. Now that I have my sense of humor back I can comment that this is "I guess" what a proper MTB ride feels like. Damn, it dominated me - 5h22m.
  22. I did it a couple of yrs ago. Must have changed the route up. I wasn't the fittest, but remember climbing forever. going for my 4th yr running now and doing the 50km. Will look at 80km again nxt yr.
  23. Going to be a cracker marathan. Plz confirm route distance. 65 or 75km. Tx
  24. Sounds good guys. Hope to see you there.
  25. So this is ride that can be entered by your average Joe? How many laps do the 30-34yr category do? I'm interested, fo show. Never done xco before, gulp.
