  1. Thank you sir. Sounds like a bit of fun. 🤙
  2. Open invitation to anyone to kick me in the nuts at full strength if I ever attempt to race this thing again. Well organised. Vanilla route with unmaintained roads. Corrugation, sand, loads and loads of rocks. The last 10km was "lets see if we can kill them" stuff. We normally went home battered and bruised on the tar but this year it seems the organisers did not want to let us off easy.......... Add the price tag and logistic issues. 3 times is enough. This was not fun. Well done to all who finished. Huge respect.
  3. Gooi bietjie review please. The word "enduro" scares most "normal" mountain bikers. So how much is actually ridable and how much is flying with no wheels touching?
  4. Bahahhaha. No man. It's a flat fast race. But windgatly I just wanted to point out that "high pressure = low watts" is not always the golden rule. I foresee a SHITload of corrugation this year so I think that lower pressures might not be such a bad idea. Just need to not hit stuff. 😲 Catch 22
  5. I weigh 84km I run 1.8 bar. My best time was 4:58 on my gravel bike (No powermeter) Last year time 5:30 with 194w avg. Last 100km wat fairly easy going after I punctured at 38km. Don't know if that helps
  6. Hookless you mean. Rimless would be a bitch to ride on.
  7. Glad to see you are mobile and fighting. 😎
  8. I am sitting with the same issue at this stage
  9. Have to agree yes. Cannondale has done BSA on the new road bikes also and It has been a year now without one little squeeck.
  10. SRAM DUB (BSA). Cannondale moved away from the PF30 stuff with this model.
  11. Think I just had a crisis in my pants. What a pretty picture 😎🤙
  12. Much of the sameness there. But I miss my Topstone sooooooooo much. The ride quality on that thing was amazing!
  13. I did. Bought myself a nice bike last year. 😎
  14. 13 Years without DSTV for me @ R800 per month saving without interest. R124,800 in my bank. No coming back for me.............
  15. Cool and interesting. Thanks for this. So demand climbed after Covid and stayed. Should be interesting to plot on same graph demand for road and MTB?
  16. Very much so agree yes. My GB's tyres are specifically for fairly crappy offroad. 42mm riding at 2bar. If I go 35mm, say Vittoria (hard sidewall) and jack it up to 3bar, I can keep up with the road club ride quite easy.
  17. Looking back at some of my riding stats over the recent years 2022: Road 38% Gravel 46% MTB 14% 2023: Road 44% Gravel 42% MTB 12% 2024: Road 46% Gravel 48% MTB 2% To me my road bike will always be my first love. Fast. Light. Exciting Gravel is 20% less efficient than the road bike but makes training harder and commuting easier The MTB seems to be the clear loser where I did a couple of MTB rides (long stuff) but now do those rides on the gravel bike as most routes in Gauteng are not technical.
  18. Club ride Pta
  19. Myself has done this event only once in the past and loved it. I see there were around 200 riders every day spread over various categories? Not bad. So question: (And I take my own issues here in consideration) Will the event attract more riders if they did a 3 day (4 stage) approach? Less leave. Cheaper on accommodation. Wed: Stage 1 - TT hill climb AM. Stage 2 short 50km? PM. Thur: Stage 3 Fri: Stage 4 Also a suggestion would be to have less categories. Elites (Male + Female) Licensed 30-60 (One group, one jersey, once prize pot, one set following vehicles) Open Just spitballing here as I would love to do this event again but being away that long from home just seems unnecessary and it doesn't look like the Cape crowds are flocking to the event either?
  20. Technically they can still test. The analysis just needs to be sent away. (Like in the old days)
  21. Please report back, yah?
  22. Looks like my KOM in Fish Hoek is save for another year. 😆
  23. Well. You train hard. You did the sacrifices and diets and long miles etc. Surely you want to "peak" for a big event and see how fast you can do this? That would be my motivation. Irrespective of how many sub3s I've done. The organisers then squashing 400 people in a racing group? That borders to attempted murder for me.
