  1. Daars niks so lekker soos om 'n mylpaal te bereik wat jy nie gedink het jy kan nie....... Well done!
  2. A friend of mine showed me a video where he took his own road bike with Conti GP5000 tyres on with Panzer sealant in: https://orimglobal.co.za/product-category/panzer/sealant/ and put 3 nails in the tyres (pulling the nail out again each time). Tyres sitting at 5 bar. With all 3 holes sealed, the tyre only went down to 4 bar. Not bad in my books. Will see how it practically works out on the road. Just disappointed that the yellow sealant doesn't smell like banana milkshake...........😁
  3. Second set went on the gravel bike. Had a bit of two minds about which way to go............ The Connector has a nice aggressive thread with a fairly good centre line for the roadie stuff. That, together with the 45mm option makes it very attractive. That said, I went for the County. Less aggressive and more of a slick center line. I do 70% of my rides on tar, 28% on farm roads and only about 2% will I go full offroad where a MTB is actually a better option. So the 40mm just made more sense. First impressions: Rides much much softer than the Vittorias that were on there, so I am happy.
  4. Got my grubby little paws on two of the first sets that came in. The MTB looks spiffy with the black sidewalls and white lettering. Have not had a ride yet on the tekkies. Saw that the guys that serviced my rear shock made a cockup and I first have to go sort that out........... Itching though.............
  5. Quick googling shows this: Gran Fondo means 'big ride' in Italian. Typically, they are between 75 miles to 150 miles long but can vary depending on the event. Many longer ones exist that range up to 150 miles or more, but the majority of Gran Fondos cover about 100 miles (160 km) and most include some significant climbing along the way. Wiki describes is quite nicely: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Fondo Taking all this into account, a "Gran Fondo" then is a 1) Big ride) that is 2) Timed. Take that to Strava and that is where you get the "I have completed my Gan Fondo for the month" challenge. Big ride that is timed. In the Strava instance, it is usually 100km. Strava normally does 120km in the summer months of a country for a "gran fondo" ride and 100km over winter. During the past few years I have noticed they have just reverted to a "standard" 100km every month a bench mark.
  6. Any had a look at Goodyear tyres? I am trying out a set of Eagle F1's (new generation) as well as the County Gravel tyres. Will report back in due time........ https://www.goodyearbike.com/
  7. Neeeee ou..........345 aint gonna cut it. 😁
  8. Kick-ass bracket you have got there. 10/10 for style!
  9. There we go.........that is all you need to know. So first off. Just get a different rear wheel and ride with it. My gut feel is the noise will be gone. I had this strange sound on MANY a mavic freewheel body. Take the body off. clean it. The grease used to service it is too thick. The prawls does not kick out or in correctly, cuasing that noise. Most of the times it is accompanied by chain suck also. Use a very very thin oil. Mayby not even oil.....somthing like a Teflon spray maybe.......ask around...... I use Zipp's freewheelbody oil and it works well. My 2c
  10. My 7 second response.......... 808 wheel is useless in SA riding. Ever worse if you are living in the Cape. Tubbies.......be prepared to fork out R1500+ per bad puncture and most of the times not easy fixable next to the road. I am OCD.......so the 808 back and 404 front would bug me enough not to buy the bike FRM frame should be fine. As for the seatpost, bars etc, nothing special imho So break it down into what you'll be able to sell in individually........ Frame R5-7k Wheels R8k Cranks R2k Groupset R5k (if you are lucky) Bars, post, saddle, bits and bobs R2k Gives you around R20k.......... (My first reaction was that I would not buy the bike if it was more than R10k)

    GCN+

Quick stupid question to those in the know. Once you have registered as a South African GCN user and THEN install a VPN, do you have to re-register a different account on GCN? I cant remember that I had to give address or country when I first registered............
  12. It can be any color as long as it is black.......
  13. I dont understand the issue here. If you "want" to run 39/12 (small front with 2nd smallest chainring back) it gives you 3.25 ration. Shift to the big blade (52) and go to ring 16 tooth and you have the same ratio? To me it's normally VERY easy. Shift up and two down at the back and you have pretty much the same cadence at the same speed. With Di2 this is done in less than a second?
  14. Pity it's not here yet in SA.......... Order has been placed. Waiting impatiently. Garmin 1040 on sale soon. 😆
  15. I think you have to log in to get the GPX file. Not sure. All those routes, from my limited experience, are inside the farm.

  18. Have been running 105 with a 1x setup for about a year now. 11-33 at the back if I remember correctly. Given I don't do a LOT of climbing in and around Pretoria the 11-33 works just fine.
  19. Well.....if any one of us are going to look or wait for ASX then clearly we are going to wait one hell of a long time.........
