Witnessed a guy take a bad fall over the weekend in Tokai (Snake Eyes), firstly I hope he's ok as he looked in a bad way with what appeared to be a spinal injury (not confirmed). I ride a hard tail which I'm pushing harder and harder with each ride. Really questioning whether I should start wearing more protective gear or am I just getting 'soft'. Love riding and only want to ride faster over more challenging terrain - is it time to move DH? Was wondering if any XC riders wear full face helmets and/or neck braces for single track riding.

- The paint job on my EMD is also knackered. I'm torn between a 26er FS trail bike or new Niner (I think I love the Niner brand ). My EMD is fast and handles ST, roots, rocks & drop-offs (small ones ) with ease, its also pretty nimble - think the only downside is the physical battering my shoulders, arms and legs take after 3 hrs of so. Anyway I'll not replacing my EMD until I improve my riding no point getting a better bike until I've got the skills to push the old one to its limits!

Hey Dubber88, a little off topic ( ), what's the differences [in ride, handling) between the old and the new EMD?
