  1. Okay great. This is the best I could do. The chain is in two pieces and I looked but could not find any other links. I’m assuming two are missing.
  2. I can’t remember how my shimano chain broke but the sram ones definitely broke because of the side plate braking. this cassette has been on the bike since day one and I have been through 4 or 5 chains in that time.
  3. Tried to get from all angles.
  4. I would assume the lbs would measure it properly. Thats more or less how it looked with the bike in highest gear or smallest cog.
  5. Hey everyone. I have been breaking chains more than what I think is normal. I am not sure why tho. I have followed manufacturers instructions wrt chain line, I don’t shift when putting down power (I don’t put down any for that matter) and according to my bike app my cassette should still be good. I have been through three or four chains and the current one has 5 quick links in… I have been using the nx 11 spd chain and once had a shimano chain on there. My cassette and derailleur are both Sram NX 11 speed from 2019… or around there. I’ll attach pics if that helps with anything. And sommer a pic of the latest chain less lean cause why not.
  6. My lbs has a 50% sale so I could finally justify this trail side torque wrench. such a lekker little thing. https://granite-design.com/products/rocknroll-tq
  7. Thanks dude. Will pm you.
  8. Hey guys. I’m coming to jhb for a while and I need to stock up on some bearings. I remember Trailhead did Spank but not sure where to get new bearings for my pedals or where would be the best place to have them serviced? Also where can I get the following headset bearings? Thank you very much.
  9. So first ride don. Lekker shoes. They stick to my pedals really well and they hike pretty good. Just a pitty I did not check amazons size guide as I assumed I was ordering a UK size but turns out it is US now my right foot suffers a bit but it is not too poef.
  10. So FINALLY my FiveTen freerider pros arrived. Can't believe how light they are compared to my old impact pros. going for a ride after work, looking forward to give them a go.
  11. Sies!! You made me look at pics of a roadbike. Sif man.
  12. True. I do a boat load of walking in mine also. Lots of pushing up hills… I also only know as I started using mine around the same time I built my last bike and started using Probike Garage. Thats cool that the e-bike has an odometer.
  13. Man this post made me check how much I have on my impact pro’s and it is half that. Apart from the right sole coming loose and a small pin wear hole in the left they are good. 😂
  14. I have Spank Oozy pedals and also have never had a slip. My soles are so worn in now they almost clip into the pins 😂 Alright. I’ll have a look at the Spaz and the 510’s when the time (bonus😂) comes. Thanks guys.
  15. These look and sound good!!
  16. UK 11 1/2
  17. Hows the sizing compared to the 510s? I’m going to have to buy online.
  18. Hi guys. I have been riding on my 510 impact pros for 6 years now. Just had to glue the sole back on. Looking at buying a new pair of shoes end of Jan. I have not been following much related to cycling gear so not sure whats what in the shoe world at the moment. Is 510 still all the rage or what else should or could I look at?
  19. Will try this at a park with paved walkways. Everything here is single track and has so many “steps” due to erosion from the rain that it is difficult to maintain momentum. I look forward to gaming with them but I hope they will still have their love for the outdoors.
  20. Awesome!! Luckily there are many slopes on the trail and once it sunk in that it is just like the ramps at the skatepark but a little more bumpy and longer he was confident enough to ride down them instead of walking down. He got the hang of it towards the end of the trial but I did not want to carry his bike up again. Here everything is steep up and down 😞 Nothing gradual. I tried to have a slow race with them the other day, it went better than I thought. Maritz seems like he is a boss on his bike!
  21. So I was able to take my eldest out while his little brother was at playgroup. Took him on some single track, man the bigger wheels have really boosted his confidence. They roll over roots so much better than the 14” wheels (sommer makes me want a 29er). He is also riding down “drops” with a lot more ease. We had such a lekker time. Not that I worry about distance but he did 4.5km and I had to be stern about going home for dinner cause he just wanted to ho again. Now he just needs to learn to feather the brakes, when to use the “attack” position and stand and pedal for climbs. Looking forward to more rides.
  22. Skatepark rides with the boys. They dig cruising around there. Have yet to go on a forest trail with the new bike.
  23. Ja I know… Jewbacca’s post made me think and think some more. I eventually had him try out both bikes and for some reason could not get his feet down with the Marin but he could with the Trek. The Trek I actually think is also better for smaller kids (even tho the dad might want something more complicated for his kid). The V brakes and SS gearing are much more kid friendly and it is sooo much lighter (so slight dad win even though my bike weighs as much as a horse 😂) Anyway tomorrow is his birthday and I can’t wait to see the look on his face. He thinks his surprise is a marshmallow of all things 😂 Adjusted the stack and made sure everything is good to roll.
  24. That is 100% true and I get so mad at myself because I know this but refuse to listen to myself...
  25. Have you guys seen this? That Trek is pretty sweet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B09_VhsZPH8
