  1. Anyone have a mid to late 70s ZEUS track bike? I'm looking for pics of the decals, with sizes, to have some made up.
  2. Sorry, wish I had one to help you. Have a 231, but decals are different. But to help you in your search: 1995 – Laurent Jalabert wins the Tour of Spain on board his LOOK171 1998 – The LOOK KG171 wins bike of the year in France It's a classic, so there must be info out there, if not someone reproducing decals.

  5. Beauty of Campag is that you can buy and fit individual cogs. Camag make up to a 31, I think, which you can buy directly from them. Miche make them too, but significantly cheaper, so you can make up your own 8 speed. The cogs are all the same thickness, as far as I know, it's the spacers that count. I have a couple of 8 speeds running up to 28, I need them!!!! Bought a 12 - 28 ... 10 speed the other day, bought it specifically for the 28 tooth.
  6. Not very common, nice!
  7. Just booked my accommodation!!!!!!!! I can recommend Shirley Trafford Koo Karoo Guest Lodge http://www.kookaroo.co.za/ info@kookaroo.co.za I've stayed there before, very nice, quite small and very, very reasonable. I've told Shirley that I'm recommending her, so if you enquire, quote that you'll be doing the ride and she'll give you a better rate. For those of you that know my name, you can say I recommended you ..... trust me I don't get a comm out of it, I just know Shirley.
  8. Can't find a website, or any info, other than this article. Anyone know?
  9. Cable ties work a treat and don't look nearly as clunky!!!!
  10. http://eroicabritannia.co.uk/images/headline/060515-151550-040415-084916-Screen%20shot%202015-04-04%20at%2009.40.16.png Eroica Britannia tickets go on sale tomorrow, 14th October. Ride is scheduled for 19th June, 2016. Any takers??????
  11. I adapted an old child seat support rack, the one where the child seat slides onto the rack. I've seen a couple of those in 2nd hand shops, probably easier to find than a proper rack!
  12. OK, so I'm a bit left brain challenged, that's why I need your help! White, black or yellow cable housing for the Tommo??????? My taste runs to white, but maybe that's too bland. Appreciate suggestions.
  13. Might be way off, but frame looks like a Master Piu, the non centric top tube cable guides. Forks! Not sure. Maybe early MPs didn't havr straight forks, or forks are not original.
  14. If you don't have any luck, I bought from these guys before http://clemenzo.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=lockring see the last 2 lockrings listed. If you do decide to order from them, let me know, I'm interested in buying a couple more and we may even find a few others who want and combine postage.
  15. Started my riding career after a running injury back in '81. Bought a black and purple Peugeot something. Then graduated, about 84, to a sky blue Hansom 531c, with 600 and biopace. Wish I still had it!!!
  16. Welcome to BIKEhub. What would be cool is if you ask your grandfather to write a 'history' of Hansom bikes, that would be fantastic. Also, is Ettienne Somerjay still around? Perhaps we could ask him too.
  17. If you can't get locally, I bought from http://www.defietsenmaker.nl/ and he posted them to SA. Cost about €3 each, I think. Very nice guy. Also bought original ALAN decals, €11
  18. Sounds like a bit of a scam to me! Why don't you check with DHL, TNT or whomever, and see what a courier would cost? Know anyone in the UK you could send it to? Then get it here, always HUBBERS gong and coming!
  19. meant to include a link for a free VPN ukpptp.hotfreevpn.com one of the better ones I've found.
  20. Nice video comparing 1914 bike with a 2015 bike. You'll need a VPN to watch it though! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p031l00k/bespoke-elbows-out-100-years-of-technology
  21. Thanks for that, a really well written article, feels like I rode it!
  22. Hi Niell71 and welcome to the old ballies thread (speak for myself only)!!!! Yes, it looks and is a real Colnago. If you look closely, you'll see that the top tube and down tube are crimped. I can't see the chain stays properly, but the frame seems to be either a MEXICO or a Nouvo Mexico, that has been resprayed. If the frame is undamaged, no dents or bends, then yes, it is WELL worth R3k. And anything else on the bike, like wheels, headset or BB is a bonus. My humble opinion of course, because I can't see the bike in the 'flesh'. Maybe ask Glenzito, BadSam, or Kamaalo to have a look, they are both in the CA area and can help anyway.
  23. Thanks Glenzito. Was good to meet you at last. Thanks DJR for the wheels and very good to meet you too, hope you enjoy the meal! Would have been nice to meet a few other CAs, but I had to leave early to drive home. Maybe the next time!!!
  24. It's a retro bike, so the the right thread IMHO. Ditto what Eppie says. Obviously a complete strip first, then I generally start off by a good diesel wash of everything, a stiff brush (not metal brush), gets off all the old grease etc, but gentle enough no to bother the paint. Then soap (dishwashing liquid for me) and water and a good (car) polish.
