  1. I'm in CA for meetings on Thursday and Friday, so I'm going to try to make this. Hope to meet some of the HUB people behind the nom de guerrs
  2. But where are your brakes?????
  3. Do it! Do it! QLFFIE1 do it for PE. lets get this fly off the wall and flying.
  4. How many of you were there???? Interesting to know, as mentioned before, would be nice to get an annual get togeether, but need to see how many people.
  5. Eventually a reply from ALAN re this conundrum!!!!!! Maybe we've all learned something. Hello,I confirm that frame is an orginal Alan one . We had a small production of that cromolly model for just one year on 2002. RegardsAlberto Falconi / Alan bikes
  6. Another option we used to use (my goodness, sound like my dad used to): Get a strip of emmary (sp) cloth about 1.5cm wide, and stick it onto the bar, all around, cloth side down (inside) using contact. The sandpaper side is then outside and tighten bar into stem. Used to work a treat. Does my convoluted explanation make sense BadSam????
  7. Climate, I have a couple of Campag freewheel bodies, no idea where I got them from, can't remember ... aaahh, this old age dementia is not fun!!! I can send you pics if you're interested?
  8. So why slur zebra urine???
  9. CXP 30s fantastic rim, Have a set on my MX Leader, 7400 DA hubs.Bought originally from Morph, I think (sorry if not), and found new rims and laced them across myself!! If Kamaalo is not interested, I would be
  10. To be honest, I think you have more chance of finding a 39 tooth chainring. Wide range freewheels were not common back a long, long time ago! But, probably your easiest solution is to find an old, early Shimano cassette hub/wheel (6 or 7 spd) very, very easy to find, and make your own cassette. If this is allowed, though I don't see why not, they came in about 1984. Suntour ones were even before that. You can make a cassette from an MTB cassette, with a bit of filing.
  11. Could well be a respray, but it's not aluminium and does not have lugs! The owner is insistent that's it's a real Alan, but I don't think it is. Don't know what it is, tubing decal says chromolly and there are no other markings, so I have no idea!!!!
  12. CONUNDRUM I came upon this a couple of days ago. Owner wants to sell. He's convinced this is a real ALAN and therefore worth a lot of money. I have searched the interwebs and found neither hound nor hair of a chromoly Alan, nothing other than screwed and glued ali or carbon. Anyone know anything??????
  13. What does L do with all these??????
  14. + 1 Congratulations Hip Hip Hooray, put it in my birthday calender.
  15. FIAT Campagnola
  16. CAMPAGNOLA
  17. I'm not a 'long rider', but have done the odd 150km ride on my bike equipped with Record 11s and never had this problem! Probably. the opposite, I find the thumb shifter more intuitive But, to be honest, I'm a Campag fan because of the aesthetics and functionality (repairability). I have several bikes with Sh.... 7400 and 7700 (it's a Campag thread after all) and they ride equally beautifully, but if it goes wrong, say if the rear derailleur breaks, it's much more difficult to fix (read replace).
  18. BUY IT! Otherwise buy for me! Lovely frames.
  19. So, in the last week I spent too much! Firstly, I bought some 50th Anniversary shifters through a contact in Switzerland, £40. He has a complete set, unboxed, for £1850 if anyone interested!! Then, because it's in my backyard and because I saw it first, I bought this PANARDI. Still in the HUB's Classifieds. Nice equipment, DA 7600 wheels and crank, but overall quite rusted and needs a repaint. AND, turns out to be a late 70s/early 80s ZEUS 2000, yey!!! So probably not Columbus tubing after all, as per the decals, but more than likely Reynolds 531. I need to apologise to Morph for not buying his Mavic brake calipers, yet buying the Panardi. Sorry Morph, just could not resist!!!
  20. Brake hoods alone, or Ergo lever hoods???? Either one you'll probably have to buy overseas!! You'll be surprised at the prices. A couple of pages ago I posted about replacement hoods from Harry Hall Cycles in the UK. Not Campag hoods, but good replacements.
  21. My size toooooooo!!!! I think I'm in Moz again about 23rd Sept. No certainty yet, if not, definitely, I'll drive up and we can join those retro PE guys!!!
  22. Is this yours, in which case it looks a bit big, or is it for our mutual friend? Regardless, you did a fantastic job. Come visit sometime, I'll get bikes and parts ready!
  23. Beautiful!!! For those that have not looked at his work. http://brianbaylis.blogspot.com/
  24. Olfie1 had a visitor recently, wanted to buy his Nag Arabesque. This is the visitors collection. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/vintagebikeart/sets/ For any info, ask Olffie1.
  25. Nice bikes guys. Same as upcountry, form a retro bike club and then let's meet somewhere neutral and share!
