  7. Easiest and least damage if you use dishwashing liquid. Makes them slide easily, then rinse it off
  8. Two almost completed projects, must get them done before the Herald. '85/86 Colnago Super, Campag 50th. Waiting for brake levers. Got wheels, those shown are Superbe Pro. '84/85 Battaglin Record (changed from DA 7400 to Record). Waiting for the right bar tape and crank.

  11. Look at the positives. You rode further in 2 weeks than most of us ride in a year!!!!! I hope that you have someone like you when you get old (if ever)!
  12. So where are you? When do you think you'll be home? Easy riding, safe riding.
  13. Dibs on the Dacc if you thinking of selling, if i can afford it
  14. You have a howling easterly behind you. Don't know how far along the coast it's blowing, but my guess is to Stilbaai or so. So better drink something that's gonna give you wings!. Safe flying
  15. Imho a bit of a waste to turn it into a fixie. Worth more restored. I can swap you a good fixie frame! Either way, I wouldn't sand blast it. If you want to sell the cranks I'm interested. You'll be surprised at what they are worth.
  16. Ok, good luck. See you sometime tomorrow then. Ride safe
  17. Is your timetable amended? Still going to try for PE tonight (Wednesday)?
  18. VW Herald Tour de Velo Classiqque Managed to get dates. The EXPO, where we'd like to have a display of our bikes, opens on the Friday 30th January 2015. The MTB event, at Addo, is on Saturday 31st. This is the day we'd like to have a CONCOURSE, really show off the old steeds. Then a short ride, maybe 30 km, along the beachfront. Sunday 1st February is the road race, where most of us, I think, will ride the 50km route, slowly!! Entries should open next week, but by the end of October at the latest.
  19. See you when you get here. Cheese and polony, or pasta?????
  20. What's the timetable for the return trip????
  21. Entries for EROICA BRITANNIA open next month sometime. I'm definitely going to try to go again. Really enjoyed it last time, though it's a lot hillier than I expected. But, I suppose it depends on the fate of the Rand. At 30:1 I'll have to give it a miss.
  22. Can you list all 1001, so some of us, those with less generous kids, can at least know!!!
  23. Ask Glenzito or Danthunders. If don't have, they can probably point you in the right direction. Loose Cog too might have a frame, he's about the same size.
  24. Nice bike maj. Don't know what it is, can't see any defining markings on the frame, though the dropouts suggest Italian and probably between '78 and '83. I have a very similar looking (lug wise) '83 Battaglin, though mine has detailing on the forks, seat tubes and brake bridge, so I don't think your's is a Battaglin. The components, other than those obviously Shimano, appear Campag Victory or Triomphe. Some TLC and she'll be lovely.
  25. Yes, JD, I agree with you, but it's not quite as critical as you make it sound! The Campag square taper is very slightly smaller and this is more pronounced on the older BBs. But I have a number of cross pairings that work well, finding a Superbe BB has been problematic!!! In this case, there is almost no play when a Suntour crank is fitted to the Veloce BB.
