  1. Another simple brake bridge and just 1 bottle cage mount. Tommasini is full of contradictions!!! Apparently, Tommasini didn't start the marbled paintwork until 1987. But some of their frames show 'early' charactersitics, like no pump peg and only 1 bottle cage mount, even though they are 'marbled' painted.
  2. Probably also 1987/88, but only 1 bottle cage and simpler brake bridge
  3. Variation in brake bridges!!!!!!! Super Prestige, about 1987, has 2 bottle cages:

  9. Nice find Evan. There seem to be a lot of Super Prestige frames in Mzanzi. Not sure why. If you follow some of the US and UK threads, they show lots of Prestige models, which is the one below Super Prestige. The Super has such a short wheelbase, it's a great climbing frame, not that I've ever been much of a climber.

And clutter it is, but I find it hard to part with it!!!! I must have at least 1000 LPs, probably 1500 4 tracks, now 400 CDs, not counting the movie DVDs, VHS and even the odd Beta tape. Probably 20 000 slides I should scan , my house is a bloody mess. But, pride of place is my bicycle collection, now that you can't digitise.
  13. If you're up near Plett one day, drop in and I'll show you why you should keep it!!!

  15. Can't find any matching sloping fork crown lugs. Can't find any matching brake bridge lugs either. My guess is it's an artisan builder, who used Cinelli lugs, but produced few frames and disappeared. It's probably worth posting your pics to one of the international forums and asking. You may just come up with something.
  16. Cinelli Prugnat seat cluster lug I think the BB could be Cinelli also.
  17. The reason I'm looking at the lugs is that the seat stays are brazed directly onto the lug, there aren't any lug processes to take them. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pV0PbE3Xi6Q/UpPJsdBQD7I/AAAAAAAAA2A/nTUmojxuEBs/s1600/5454771864_55de5a1f92_z.jpg

  19. Other than the Reynolds decal, everything else points to early 80s. 1 set of bottle cage jobs, suggests before 84/85 cable guides under BB suggest later than 78/79 Front Derailleur braze on suggest later than 78/80 Sloping fork crown (if original fork) suggests later than 81/82 Internal cable housing suggests post 80 As to the ID, I have no idea, almost certainly Italian. The unusual seat post retaining mech should provide a good clue. I'll do some searching and let you know if I come up with anything.
  20. Keep it. You're just up/down the road from me (Hoekwil), you bring and show me yours, I'll show you mine!!!

Well, the first one was conceived in 'error' and the last one too. Having said that though, I wouldn't change my life for anything. Torture yes, but kind of like running Comrades, or riding Argus, not so great while you're doing it, but the joy and sense of achievement afterwards!!!!!! Totally different experience having them so far apart, for them and for me.

Remember going to the Doc's store in London in 1994, with my then 19 year old daughter. Got talked into buying a pair of black leather Doc boots for her (something about being twisted around a finger). My daughter wore them for a long time and handed them down to her (much) younger sister a few years ago Went back to a (not only 1 anymore) Doc's store in London last year, with my 16 year old daughter, wearing her 'hand me down' Docs. Staff couldn't get over the old Docs, made in England, all the new ones are made elsewhere (????). Ended up buying another 2 pairs, silver and red, this new generation has strange tastes!
