  1. But still...those xt brakes are just yummy. For me I like them full xt. Another upgrade I made on my bike - I took off the new Crest wheels and bought a set of American Classic Race wheels from Summit Bikes for 6k. The new Crests will be sold for just under 5k. My bike is about 10kgs now. But which ever version you get I can tell you that this is a great bike and there is no better bikes out there for the price.
  2. I got the Storm1 but only after changing the 2x10 to 3x10. I also swapped the 11-34 cassette for a 11-36. The Storm1 is better value but be sure that you can live with the 26-34 granny gear in the Cape mountains. The Storm 2 comes out with 3x10 and a 24-34 granny, so much better for non-professional riders on the climbs.
  3. Tyres grip differently depending on the model, not the brand. Maxxis Crossmarks does not have good sideways grip, but I found that the Ikon has a more consistant grip when leaning over than a Ralph. Then there is the Maxxis Aspen with zero rolling resistance but very good grip for such a low knobby tyre. I like the Ralphs because they roll very fast, but I don`t like them because it seems their grip deteriorates from day one. So Ikons for me for everyday use, and on my race wheels I got some Ritchey WCS Shields.
  4. Jungle B-fast is a cheaper alternative to FutureLife. B-fast/Leanpro in the week, FutureLife/Leanpro on the weekend. If FutureLife want to up their prices I`ll rather use the much cheaper Jungle B-fast for everyday.
  5. hahah haters it sucks to be you!
  6. Oh ye and I forgot to mention..............................................................................................................29ERS RULE!!!!
  7. But if you did all that AND had a 29er it would even be better. Common lets cut the crap, 29ERS RULE!!!!
  8. The Ralphs don`t last long wear wise so you gonna spend money soon anyway. Get Maxxis Ikon Exo`s and thank me later. They outlast Ralphs 3-1 at a minimum. Mine is going on to a year now with many kms on them. No cuts and no degradation in grip yet.
  9. Why then spend money on a bike when you can get a driewiel at Toys R Us for much cheaper?. For me, it is about the bike too, in fact I love my bikes very much, they are my pride and joy, and all of them are 29ers, cause of the way they ride, 29ers give me more joy than a 26er. If I had to ride a Game Dunlop special in the mountain, I probably would not ride.
  10. But that hubber will probably win even further if on a 29er. I used to say 29ers are superior only for marathons, but now I am not so sure, they can be superior in XCO too. As for the Dugast tyres, remember that Schurter did not use the normal Dugust, it is actually only the carcass, the tread is a Ritchey WCS Shield.
  11. If you can get an Ignitor Exo for the front it will make a great combo with a Monorail or Crossmark on the back.
  12. You got it wrong there, I think Burry lost it because of something at the start, maybe he started too slow, but it took too much to make up the gap while the front 3 were cruising along. Eat humble pie 26ers, marketing gimmick my arse! 29er dually rules!!!
  13. Giant should do away with those heavy wheels and replace them with proper Stans wheels. With those crap wheels the Giant is overpriced these days.
  14. 29er DUALLY TAKES GOLD!!! Who would have thought that! The extra contact patch of the 29er was just a bit quicker through those last sandy corners.
  15. I will take the Fuji over the Scott on rear suspension alone. And the Scott is dumb: Trail geometry gives lower bb, XC setting higher - thats wrong way round!
  16. Got the same tyres on Crests with no problems but I never pump then that high. 4.5 For the tyre, but not on that rim.
  17. Ninos tyre is a Ritchey WSC Shield with an A.Dugust label on the sidewall, you can see the little shield and the R for Ritchey between the knobbies. I wonder whats up with that? Why not use the Shield 27.5 tyre?
  18. I think somebody can definitely tomorrow record it for you.
  19. The quick wear adds to the already high cost, compounding the problem. But if money is not a problem a great tyre. Just be prepared to change them quickly. The RocketRon UST is a good front option, it clears mud a bit better. Maxxis Exo sidewall protection is the best it lasts the longest and is much lighter than UST and is rock solid tubeless.
  20. It will work, but might be difficult to install? How much weight will it add?
  21. X-King UST not too heavy I see, it will give a bit more grip than a Monorail. Monorail on the back X-King front is a good combo. I would just dump those Crossmarks if not the LUST version.
  22. If rolling resistance is important then I would go for the Monorail. It will completely outgrip a Crossmark, and still roll super fast. Maxxis tyres just last super long wear wise. Conti tyre sidewalls break very quickly, unless you go UST, but then its heavy and pricey.
  23. HAHAH those X-king sidewalls are made of rice paper even the protection version, and the UST version weighs a ton. Nevegal weighs a ton and rolls like a tractor wheel in a mixture of mud and glue. What type of riding do you do? Is weight and rolling resistance important?
  24. Definitely Monorail, it will be a great improvement over a Crossmark, and it seems quite big for a 2.1. I would put one on the back too. I wish I could get a 29er Monorail.
  25. I would also like this, an you please send a link to the part on CRC?
