  1. Must do Jonkershoek and Oak Valley , optional is Skapenberg, Thandi, Lebanon, Grabouw MTO.
  2. Hello people, you all speak about medium or large, this is inaccurate rather speak of actual sizes in inches. A giant medium is 18" and a Silverback medium is 16.5". I think a 29er should be a bit smaller than a 26er, the wheelbase is longer and the standover is a bit higher. If you feel that you are in between sizes go for another brand with the correct size.
  3. Neither for me, Silverback Storm1!
  4. The 60 was a great ride, some funky mud sections. The st on Simonsberg was an unexpected pleasure, they really should open up a trail here. I found it more tough than expected, it felt like 1700m climbing.
  5. R11500 should be a good deal, but it depends on the specs and condition of the bike. Fox front and Fox RP2 rear is quality. It will probably be a good idea to check how much life there is in the drivetrain, and when last the shocks were serviced, and then try offer something less. But if it is in good condition it is a good buy.
  6. Still lots of mud out on the surrounding trails, not sure about the actual route, should not be too bad.
  7. 40km a bit easy, 75km a bit tough
  8. Where can one get that Ritchey P29? That`s styling! Just did a search to find out...zero, nothing, nada.
  9. Wind will be great drying up the mud baths, on a mtb wind is never a problem, leave that to the roadies.
  10. Redro fish paste
  11. You need some power in your legs, that`s why the heavy resistance spinning bike routine. When you are climbing on your real bike, you can check if it is your legs or your lungs/cardiac keeping you back. You will probably find it is your legs, therefor you have to increase leg strength/power. If you find that its your lungs/cardiac, then you need to up your cadence type exercise routine like rowing or high cadence spinning. I suggest do both.
  12. You got it wrong, you should make the chicks check you out with Sidis, lycra, smooth legs, a river of sweat, and a camelbak on the spinning bike
  13. always stretch before and after training, eat whey protein just before bedtime and add some glutamine when you can feel your legs are sore
  14. - spinning bike slow cadence - big resistance 4min sitting 1min standing, ultra resistance 4min sitting 1min standing, mega resistance 4min sitting 1min standing, godlike resistance 4min sitting 1min standing - all this x3 or x4 - rowing machine 5000m, set the units to watts, increase your average wattage goals as you get stronger - weight training, especially legs and stomach crunching
  15. Selle groep, selle bikes, selle tyres, die dice is aan!
  16. I beg to differ about the Ikon, don`t make me tell JanMTB on you. I mounted an Ikon Exo 29er November last year, it was so easy to set up on Crest rims only a floorpump was required. It has seen some long miles and abuse and probably 50 thorns, just pull out the thorn it seals so quickly no inflation required. It is still going strong today (only on the front) just had to topup with Stans once. The tread looks still good for more than 1000km. Wearwise it will outlast 3 Racing Ralphs. The Ikon Exo is magical. I think you tried the non-Exo, and as far as I know they seat easily too.
  17. It`s the sidewall of the x-King, the normal and even the protection version (not talking about UST), tread is still new then the sidewall just falls apart. I saw it happen to my friend, then I researched it online, rice-paper sidewalls, its like it wears out quickly and rips, or it just rips when still new.
  18. I`m in B! Not too shabby for a BergBok! I estimate the total climbing for the 60 to be +-1200m.
  19. You pay top dolla: http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/wheelsets-mtb/american-classic/american-classic-race-29er-wheelset-american-classic.html Stans Crest wheelset = R5k.
  20. Where can I get these for how much?
  21. I would go for that R20k Merida @cyclelab with Dura-Ace and Falcrum wheels. Or just mount some Schwalbe Marathon Racers tubeless on you mtb and drop the roadies. Joining the roadie crowd....welcome to a new world of pollution, traffic and death just 1 meter away. Saw this for 20k @cyclelab MERIDA SCULTURA EVO DA http://www.cyclelab.com/products/MERIDA%20SCULTURA%20EVO%20DA%20(2012)%20-%20ONLINE%20SPECIAL!.aspx
  22. Lean into the corners more, just as the corner starts, you must almost fall into the corner and then catch yourself with the bike. Also, a shorter stem helped me a lot.
  23. When people say a 29er does not do well in technical single track stuff they are just talking nonsense. If the 29er wheels are heavy it will accelerate slower out of tight turns, that is true, it might have a slightly wider turning circle, that is true, but I find my 29er is magnificent in single track and technical terrain, and as for the rest of the terrain (normally 98% of what I ride), it is just superior. I can highly recommend a 29er with good wheels, best will be to buy the bike with good wheels, and that`s why I like that Silverback.
  24. I want a hardtail with a 29er back wheel and 650b front, and I want a 29er dually, and I want a 26" 140mm travel bike.
