  1. If i want to do around 2h30 what my time/avg speed be for the first 30km ?
  2. I do think the seeding is a little weird. My dad got A as a start group and i have beaten him in every race before. last week i did a 2h55 94.7 race and he did a 4h20 for example.
  3. Got a B start group. I wanted to get sub 2H30, Should i ask the people in charge for a re-seed or will the B bunch get around a 2h30 time ?
  4. Haha thanks, still making stupid mistakes all the time though.
  5. Haha. Its more of a personal goal. The Argus is the sort of race that everyone asks what you're time is.
  6. Thanks, 94.7 wasn't a good race for me. Went to hard and cramped near the end.
  7. Thanks, i will set my goal around sub 2h35.
  8. Howzit Hubbers I am relativity new to cycling. Rode for the first time this year doing the Argus, never knew what i was doing, had no food and only one bottle of energy drink. Finished it in 6h30 Hated every second of it, and swore i would never do it again. So i started training and taking it very seriously. Pretty much all i do now is cycle. My main goal is to do a sub 3 hour Argus next year. I know start groups/seeding is a big concern so i did the 94.7 to get a better start group, my time was 2h53. My question is if i want a start group of between A,B or C what time should i achieve in the Die burger ? Is there any other ways i can get a better start group ? I think i will be ready physically. Your responses are much appreciated.
  9. I did a 6h30 min Argus and a 2h50 min 94.7.... Ok the Argus was my first time on a bike. From what i remember the Argus has a lot of flat sections where it is possible to get the avg speed up. While the 94.7 was very little flat sections. Also the altitude does strange things to a persons body. Start group is the most important thing, my current problem is getting good start groups/seeding cause i've only just started cycling. Just do group rides and intervals with a lot of speed work. I'm sure gaining fitness is different for everybody. i'm 16 ( well soon 17) so i guess its easier if you're younger Good luck P.s next years Argus should be the year of PBs without boys drive. The year after that will probably be up Oukaaps
  10. Aaahhh now i know why the junior men bunch was so fast at the 94,7 and inter provincials
  11. i only started cycling 6 and a half MONTHS ago and i did a comfortable sub 3 hour. a person can do a lot of training in that time.

Got my re-seed, i showed them my recent results and the offered any group i want choose F, there's a couple of us that are gonna try and get around 2h45. Does anyone know what doing a Sub 3 hour Argus is compared to this race? should be fun, can't wait for a race with low wind (flying up from cape town)

They told me re-seeding has been done, but just bring your recent results to them at the expo and they will sort us out. Good luck
  15. Wish i had started this earlier i've done around 9000km+ in the last 7 months. will do it next year.
  16. Look around, i just bought a Scott 910 for R17 000, 2013 model with carbon frame, XT group set, Sycross(DT swiss wheels) weighs around 9.9kg at the moment (with out pedals). I got it in from overseas though, but there's lots of deals around you just have to find one. Good luck. The Momsen 2013 range looks very nice especially for people with a budget.

is there a R150 Fee one can pay to change your start group ? i'm starting in L, my goal is sub 2h50 and would prefer starting a little earlier. REALLY looking forward to the race!!
  20. Just be happy it wasn't as bad as this
  21. i will be 18 before the race, so maybe that could work.
  22. i was told there was a junior category, presides the elite.
  23. Its got SLX shifters, i will ask them if they could upgrade the groupset. Thanks
  24. Thanks, i will ask them today.
  25. Hey guys I'm getting a new mountain bike, a SCOTT Scale 920 Bike. It has a mix of XT and SLX http://www.scott-sports.com/global/en/products/227710009/bike-scale-920-xl/ that's the link to see the bikes components. My question is - IS 2X10 better than 3X10 ? I'm still a young guy (17) and do a lot of racing. the bike comes out with 3X10. Is it worth while in selling the group set and buying a new a 2X10 rather. Does anyone know what i will get for the group set ? I'm taking part in the UCI 2013 world masters and thinking that 2X10 will be better. Any thoughts and opinions on this topic ? Many thanks Josh.G
