  1. I use Endomondo on my galaxy sII and it uploads all my rides to endomondo.com no problem, straight out of the box. Awesome app!
  2. I'm guessing Accelerate will work better than just 32Gi on shorter races too (of about 1 hour)?
  3. Raspberry is too nice! I'm not buying it again! I'll try lime next time!
  4. Check out these. They've got some nice prices on Specialized shoes

  6. I'm pretty sure Scott has got 26ers for 2012 of their site. Aren't they making it to SA?
  7. Do you think that the 26" will die out? Parts become more and more scarce in the future?
  8. Okay guys, so I have to start planning where I want to go with my mountainbiking. My bike rides comfortably enough and I enjoy it very much. But I have to decide which way to go before taking out some more cash. Option 1: Buy a new bike some time in the future (probably an alu hardtail 29er) or Option 2: Upgrade this bad boy as I have money availalble (fork, wheels, groupset, even eventually frame to a lighter hard tail if it needs be). I seriously need more gears (sometimes I'm in the hardest gear and wish there was one more) Unless its going to be much more expensive, I'm kinda leaning towards Option 2 because of the ability to upgrade as cash becomes available, and also because I'm not sure if I want to go the 29er route (both have their advantages/disadvantages). so what do you guys reccommend?
  9. Clearly that elephant isn't familiar with SA motorists and their hate for the cycling community, the way he drives in the middle of the road
  10. I know of a job for a statistical programmer in Bloemfontein (no experience required). Requires relevant qualification And also a Senior HR Coordinator in Pretoria. Min of 5 years required. If anyone is interested, let me know via PM
  11. For future reference by future visitors to this topic I live in Universitas, and there is some less technical place to ride close by. If you leave town with Haldon road (heading towards Petrusburg) you get the BP garage to the right. Just behind it is Stuck in the Mudd. Its mostly for motorcycles but if you get the track for yourself, it can be fun. There are some other dirt roads round there too, some leading towards Langenhoven Park. If you rather turn left at the BP garage you'll find some gravel roads through the plots outside of town. you can easily put 30km's on. Or instead of taking the gravel roads through the plots, you can go straight ahead after turning left at the BP, across the train tracks, through the high trees and you will find something a wee bit more exciting. There is a large tar track (I think it was used for go-carts years ago). But more importantly, there are some more single track gravel roads too. If you cross the tar track and head towards the hills (called Brandkop) then apparantly on the hill there starts a track that takes you right through to the casino. Can be interessting, I'll have to check it out some time. I just wish I had more time to ride and discover new places to ride. Still want to go see the place in the north that Ocin talked about. If any one can add to the list, please do. for the enjoyment and stimulation of the sport in Bloemfontein
  12. Apparantly there is some nice place to ride close to Maselspoort, next to the river, which is near the airport. But I haven't been there myself so I can't give you any more info. As far as a shower goes, there is a river
  13. Well I did the exact similar ride this afternoon and felt much better. My system must have been a bit "off" on Saturday...
  14. Thanks for the info. I did actually not feel all to well for the rest of the day, with that light head you sometimes get when you stand up quickly. I did not feel hungry at any point during the ride Long shot or not, you're right. I like smoking some hub occasionally, and did smoke some hub the previous night. Maybe that could've weekend my system too? Guess I'll stop doing that for a while!
  15. I don't suffer from high blood pleasure (that I know of). I'm only 23 years old And I'm not on any meds
  16. So on my MTB ride this morning I felt extremely dizzy after a bit of a climb. Had to stop and sit down for a few minutes. Needless to say, I was toast for the rest of my ride, and felt similar once again. The ride was less than 1hour. I must admit I'm still unfit. But I had similar rides previously with much more energy. I had some toast and an apple for breakfast, and went on the ride 20min later. I don't use energy drink or boosters at the moment (trying to loose a few KG's). Any advice? Thanks in advance!
  17. Just received my copy. Ordered from Kalahari for R180 excl. shipping. Yup its published in 2000. Can't wait to start reading it and to start training! Too busy this week with exams though
  18. Well I know this topic is a year old, but I'll give my 2c for future reference The aim of 32GI is to keep your blood sugar levels constant. Eating high GI foods with it (like bananas mentioned) or having other energy boosters/drinks defeats the point of 32GI. Try eating about 1 hour before a ride, and sip on 32GI until about 30min before your ride. Then take some more 32GI during the rest of your ride. Don't take anything else! Its should help! EDIT: When using 32GI, high GI & sugar/caffeine boosters are only useful for that last 30-40 minutes stretch of your ride. Don't take it if you still have 2 hours of ride time left!
  19. How nice would it be if posts inside a thread were about the topic of the thread..
  20. Thanks for the informative post! Where can the rubber parts you mentioned for the phase 1 service be bought from? EDIT: For interest sake I just had by shock fully serviced for about R700, if any one was wondering about the price
  21. I just sip half a glass of low-fat milk before training in the mornings. I just feel like training on an empty stomache isn't a good idea. I'll have some yogurt and muesli afterwards However, I do have some excess fat that should be shed. Will your body actually break down fat more efficiently if you train on a completely empty stomach in the mornings? Also, I'm scared that I'm too tired the rest of the morning at work if I train on an empty stomache
  22. So we all know the big names in the cycling world. But what brands offer good quality bikes for cheaper (due to less marketing )? Isn't Silverback one of those? Any others?
  23. Anyone care to mention some more places to do MTB in or around Bloemfontein? Looking for some fun places to ride!
  24. Any news on this? Was the track built? I'm looking for new places to ride in and around Bloemfontein. Thanks!
  25. To bump an old topic: Are there any MTB group rides in Bloem?
