  1. My front chain rings are slipping because of what looks like wear and tear. Do I have to replace the whole crank set? What speed do I have currently? (I don't know much
  2. Here in Bloemfontein the events are quite well attended and people aren't all too serious, which is something that I like. There are a lot of pro's, but mostly weekend warriors having a good time. Luckily the likes of Stevief are limited. Sure, people like to see themselves doing better times. But people who have all the matching color-coded gear and those who get angry at less experienced riders really are douches, no matter how well they ride.
  3. Can anyone explain the different ranges of SRAM products, like Shimano has Deore through to XTR?
  4. A valuable trick: To add to point 5: generic product images are easily recognizable. Never trust an ad with only generic pics. Then, if you confirm that the image isn't generic, save the image to your PC. Then go to Google, click on 'images' and click on the camera icon (search by image). Upload the saved pic and see where that pic has been used elsewhere on the web. Also, what I've done previosly before buying products off the hub, I'll ask the seller to take a specific photo for me. For instance, I asked the seller to take a photo of his HRM taking his heart rate and mail it to me. Still not fail-safe, but it adds credibility.
  5. I see you linked to my topic about disc brake issues. In all fairness, I did type an EDIT note right away in the first post saying that I'm sorry for the misspelled title, but I am unable to fix it via Tapatalk. I hope that your breathing can now return to normal and you can put on a dry panty.
  6. Hi guys. Im a bit dissapointed. I took my old and trusty Scott Reflex to a LBS to have them check my weak brakes, among other things. The rotors also touched the brake pads when the wheels spin. Its Avid hydraulic brakes. So the guys replaced the rear brake pads. Now they touch the rotor even more, and still break pretty weak compared to what it used to be. What can a technically inclined person like myself try to restore braking power and stop the rotors from touching the pads? EDIT: Sorry for the misspelled title. I can't seem to edit it with Tapatalk
  7. Have any of you had to wash your camelbak? Any tips?

  9. Witkop het goeie raad. Usually you will find better bang for buck when you spend the same amount of cash on a 26er as you would on a 29er. Same with hard tail vs soft tail. Read up on the differences. Also decide on the tipe of rides, styles and routes you would do. Read about what will work best for you. Make an informed decision and stick to your new baby. Wave your money and loved ones good bye as you start practicing the best sport known to mankind!

    Great! Thanks!
  11. Hi guys. Do any of you know of a nice MTB route round Jefferey's bay? This is my first time here and a few of us are looking for a place to ride. Thanks!
  12. it makes sense to me, to try and stay seated as long as possible to train those muscles. Then when you simply can't do it any more, lift your ass from the seat! That way you mainly train your "seated" muscles, which will be utilized whenever you ride/race

  15. I just got a mail from Endo saying that the Pro version will go on special for two 24h periods in the next two weeks on the Android market for only 0.10$. Apparanlty the iPhone and Blackberry versions are on sale too
  16. I rode a 29er this weekend for the first time. It was a Scott dual suspension. And I'm not impressed. The track consisted mostly of single track with some tight turns and climbs. I felt like a clown trying to takecthose corners. I was dissapointed and happy to get back on my 26er. I'm no expert, but for my riding style I won't be buying into the (apparent) hype. Don't you feel like every LBS owner or sponsored cyclist just rides 2øers to boost sales?
  17. I believe you only need to sign up in the app. Can't remember though
  18. I usually find topics on religion quite interresting. I vote we ban people who participate in topics against their will?....
  19. Goodness people, religion isn't about laws anymore... If you want to cycle on a Sunday, do it. Just like on any other day. As long as it doesn't negatively affect your spiritual life. I feel like I'm fed at church meetings, so I'll be there on a Sunday morning and evening. The rest of the time I do what I want because it doesn't affect my spirituality. And that is the key...
  20. I think you have to fet the symbian one
  21. Doubt its more accurate than say a Samsung Galaxy with GPS and aGPS.... :-P
  22. Such a cool app. Ive been using the free version on my Android phone. Very awesome
  23. As a web developer I can tell you that the LBS are probably scared of the extra admin involved in creating an online catalog. If only they could realize the benefits. What stops any established bike shop to offer online sales? I'd love to be able toorder some products from my LBS and go pick up the package when its ready. It allows customers to properley shop through your different products. And shipping to customers in other cities is so easy with door-to-door couriers. To have an up to date catalog and good PR (speedy responses, facebook interaction etc.) a dedicated staff member is probably worth it. But if done properly, the benefits would be great
  24. Yep, running is by far the easiest you can do to stay fit while away from your bike. If you are serious and want are going away for a while, you can even take your heart rate monitor to check your performance (so you don't loaf!). I don't know how well the hotels are equipped in places like Lagos, or how safe it is to run outside, though.
