  1. Being forced to start at way bottom have lil mixed feelings bout all those who are discussing getting to fit in 2nd lap. Us who have to wait to start till after 10AM don't go trying to sneak in an extra lap by starting at 7AM.. and last two times I have done race from non seeded starting group you always have lot of jerk riders (or group of em) doing their 2nd lap shouting at us to stay left while we try to make our own way to overtake through the slow masses up ahead. So please be nice to us who get crap start times, are on MTBs, and only are just starting out when you want to come flying thru to make it for ur 2nd lap
  2. not if i have a say in outcome, that is if decide to still do race will be there to put up a challenge..
  3. Well at least you will be finished or close to finishing race before some of us even get to start.. so who will b truly suffering
  4. Same group as me.. When did you sign up and guessing you prob also aren't seeded ?
  5. so basically then entry for race and getting decent time will cost R1000... i know part goes to charity but I already do plenty to volunteer and donate in other ways. But guess the more ppl give to signup with charities the more I will be ripped off for what i paid to enter
  6. I got it worse then you. signed up when there was only 22k entries knowing injury would keep me from doing other races that might allow me to get a seeding. But just got email saying i am #31848 in group UU with starting time or 10:03 and at this point thinking of just cancelling race cus I did not want to have to put get out there for what will be likely frustrating 3-4 hours in heat of day and stuck in back. grrr How the heck can I only have 650 other numbers after me (basing of @32500 entries) ??? There has got to be many more people who are not seeded and don't know why if 13k other people signed up after me why I am so low in starting time. If anyone has some advice please let me know. Thanks
  7. I created my first draft of the route for the 94.7 based of route info on official website and Route Planner on MapIT (tho it was labelled 2012) This might not be 100% accurate so please leave any comments/suggestions and will update map. Or if you have better version then posts yours here. Since many sections of the route are going against normal flow of traffic I had to use manual mode to map waypoints which makes route flow lil less then perfect and wasn't also so sure of exact ending point so ended up with it being only 94.1 kms. This was mainly so can upload to my VR Trainer and possibly use with my Bryton Rider for race day if no better version is available. GPX Route: http://trackprofiler...cycle-challenge
  8. Well the number of entries are still going up, I just refreshed sign up page and it was couple entries higher then 15min ago so ppl must be still signing up. Shows 31,965 entries now
  9. same here, only MTB If anyone is interested here is elevation profile for 52km route as shown in Strava from my last week's ride. It is actually for a 53.6km route, so not 100% as lil diff in beginning/end http://s24.postimg.org/p5uxperp1/Engen_Classic_Race.jpg
  10. I think you can as in Registration Form (link below) it states price for Late Entries, tho not sure how late is allowed http://www.engencycling.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/ECC-ENTRY-PTA-20JUN.pdf
  11. I am also on the 52km route starting 7:14... often ride same route on weekend rides, and as long as roads are clear for race of those trucks that fly past you like you don't exist think it should be safe enuf of a route
  12. sorry to hear bout this Louis.. will keep them both in my prayers.
  13. only my 2nd.. and I'm not good enuf yet to post my times for all to see
  14. hooray... sending PM to you with info
  15. when does this competition end? and any of my entries in the running?
  16. and the 2nd winner for the week is?
  17. Here is mine. Took first one yesterday but forgot to post, and then while posting had new idea so posting both (hope that is not against rules). [Note: Missed reading bout having region in sign, but I am in PTA, Gauteng]
  18. One thing I have noted from last few months of viewing posts on sales and from items I have attempted to buy is that that there seems to be not much of a code of ethics in rules to abide by. When you sell items on auction sites, if you fail to make payment or to sell the item to the buyer you get negative ratings, which then help buyers make wise decisions in future purchases and also helps keep you from being called a scammer or having your hopes dashed on an item you thought you had pretty much wrapped up the sale on. Realize that this not quite possible to implement in a forum style classifieds as is on this website, but after a while it does get tedious to hear: - people calling newbies scammers, and them in exchange getting all heated in return. (Of course there will be real scammers out there and making other hubbers aware is important) - to have a couple hubbers bidding for an item and then the winner plus runner ups finding out that a local buyer claimed the prize even after being assured their title as top bidder. - not replying to replies to items on sale or marking item as sold - if you cancel a sale and don't let winners know (and informing why) - don't offer Smarties to a poor fella trying to sell his bike cus he hit on hard times this might all be utopia type dream, and will prob never be able to implement. I am probably guilty to some extent but at least I try my best to be fair and honest in my dealings. anyone else have any thots or stories to share? ryanlynx992009-10-29 03:03:27

  21. Just wanted to say my Schwinn Stingray now has a new home.. sold it today.. tho sad to see it go.. she was a beauty
  22. called them also and they said they don't sell em.. got a PM from pererace70 and in it he talked bout Specialized's Fat Boy chopper which is what i think the bikes in the pics above are.. according to him they go for 18k... but think my bike still has the true Harley chopper look... think I might just be talking myself into keeping it in the end.. heh
  23. Nopes.. gave them a call to see what others are asking for a bike like this and was told that they are pretty rare to find and havn't been sold for a while tho they use to go for 5,500-6,500R at the time.
