  1. yep, and the seeding itself was up to shyte (not sure who is to blame for it though). I caught the B batch (started in C) in 4km and that after I had to stop to fix a flat. I passed A batch riders in less than 6km. Does that sound right to anyone?
  2. I am sorry to say, but after this event I don't want to call myself a mountain biker anymore. I will still ride, but I really don't want to be associated with the idiots that I saw at this race. Now I remember why I avoided the nissan series for 2 years. Seriously people, fist fights at a mountain bike race? WTF? I asked this person POLITELY to please look before he turn (after the 3rd time that he cut infront of me and forcing me to stop) and he starts shouting, "let's stop and sort it out!". Seriously dude? Sort what out? The fact that you didn't look before you jumped from one side of the jeep track to the other side, and not just once? The fact that I asked you politely to look before you turn/cut across? Seriously dude, you should not attend public events. Perhaps a bit of anger management is in order. It is sad to say, but if this is how mountain bikers act, then I am not one.
  3. erm, but we are also insane for going down some of those mountains at the speed we did. massive fun.Just ask Karma how he used a tree to stop after his brakes couldnt break his speed going down sodwala (spelling)
  4. it is wrong in both cases. I just get soooooo angry to see someone with nothing, that finally get something due to the good graces of others, that can't be bothered to look after the stuff they do get
  5. Something that really p!sses me off about some of these development riders is how they treat their bikes. Sure, the bikes are sometimes entry level etc, but that is no reason to THROW the bikes onto the ground etc. No matter how crap your bike is, LOOK AFTER IT DAMMIT!
  6. The only rule I think is required is, "wannabe vetgat outoppie triathletes are not allowed to strip down naked in the change overs". Sis man, what is wrong with these people
  7. ok I am out, flame me as you like. It is just my opinion
  8. I get is, lots of people have been on the waiting list for years and they would say, just add another event or just allow more entries per event. Honestly I get it. I would also say that if I was in their shoes. But, I've seen how the event have changed. I for one would rather the event implement a waiting list for previous riders like Waynehans mentioned than to just add more people and more events, and thereby messing it up for everyone. IMO races should work on first come first serve. no waiting lists or priorities. it works well for 1 day races. Sure, these events sell out fast, but so be it
  9. I would then say they should run it like Berg and Bush. Host the events over different weekends. Sure, it will be more costly to do so, but their infrastructure should handle the load better and the staff will be able to get some sleep. sure, there might be many reasons why it might not be possible to split the events over different weekends. But then again, adding more and more events directly after each other thust to meet the demand is also not the best idea. How about 2 back-to-back events in May and another 2 back-to-back events later the year, say end Sep?
  10. let me just state, I am not negative about the race. it is STILL an awesome race.
  11. IMO you should gun for which ever event runs first. be part of the first batch to go through as by the time the "race" starts the poor staff is so tired they can die. And, seeing all the skill failures this year at the race it seems unskilled riders ride in all the events...
  12. +1
  13. not the point I was trying to make. Let's just leave it at, the vibe is not the same anymore. It is starting to feel "commersialised". As I said, everyone should have it on their bucket list. Just note that the vibe at a stage race is just as important as the racing itself. It is about the complete package. The whole experience, not just the cycling. But don't take my word for it, I know nothing
  14. yup, he wasn't there when we finished the race. My finish line photo is a photo of my sani2c partner and me, and some fat chick with a very skimpy bikini in the background
  15. talking about fatique, I don't think them toilets can handle another odd 650 teams...
  16. i don't think it is a good idea. The event is oversubscribed IMO. Yes, they will make sure everything runs smoothly, but the vibe is not the same anymore. Farmer Glen used to be out on the trails, cheering people on and even lending a hand on some of those steep climbs. He used to be involved with the prize-givings etc. The race is now so big that he barely sleep, if at all, just to make sure things are ok. Look I think Farmer Glen does a splendid job, nothing against him. I also think the race should be on everyone's bucket list. That being said, If you've done a couple of Sani2c races you'll know what I mean.
  17. are we sure about last year's price? didn't the solo entries go up by 3k or something?
  18. he does exist! even though you cant see him. My doctor confirmed it
  19. DEVs on the hub, how about we (I am not a DEV though) build our own seeding engine?
  20. yep, they are useless and then on the Kia seeding, My friend's race index is 10 points lower (better) than mine on SAS, but I am ranked 3000 places better than him on the Kia site? Seriously seeding companies, can it really be that hard to get it right? WTF
  21. whoops. Only read the bit at the top. And I didn't even get that bit right. Eish
  22. hy gaan moet trap pappie!
  23. if I may ask, what is your race index?
