Doing both rides again this year. Not too difficult except for the corrugated part in the last bit of the race. Very fast race, so similar to blockhouse. I liked the timeout option halfway last year. Gives you a chance to recoup.

Excel has a formula =NOW() which gives you current system time. Create a formula that subtracts Race start time from current time.

FLX is the Carbon. Frame only was around R10 000. Someone in a previous thread mentioned that the FLX was softtail due to the flex on the back end of the frame, I believe it. Merida in my opinion is best value for money.

I rode a giant DS for around 3 years and moved onto a HT. Originally I enjoyed the DS and thought it couldn't get better. When i got the HT it was an Alu weighing in at about 12KG, The ride was good but after using a DS for so long my skills had definitely deteriorated. I think we take different lines with DS as apposed to HT. A HT makes you a better rider. I now ride a team FLX merida HT and this is the bombs. I did Sabie Experience on alu HT and had no problems. Looking forward to doing it with the FLX. I would definately go back to the DS when i will be able to afford the 96. Maybe one day when i'm big.

Have ridden Crank bros, loved then until i hit a rock during a race. The pedal just colapses and only DNF in 4 years. Ride Shimano now, probably not the best but indestructible.

Are you using the conti MK protection as tubless. How are they compared to UST version. Strength and weight wise.

Tx all, really appreciate the comments. I will stick with the UST then, Typical trying to save some weight somewhere. My Merida team is just above 10KG and thought going to "protection" would bring it below 10KG.

I have always used Conti Mountain King UST and would like to know if the Mountain king Protection could be used as UST or is it advisable to use the UST for this purpose.

I ride the FLX Team, Best Hardtail frame. then again, maybe a little biased.

We ride that way almost every weekend and met up with you sometime last year

Did the 75KM, Overheard one of the guy's I was riding with say this is more difficult than any day at the Epic. Must agree it was tough. I must admit that it seemed easier this year than last year and definitely also helped that I decided not to race. As to the Water tables running dry, i observed riders dumping water from the buckets at the stations into their bottles and messing quit a bit.

I need to replace mt SLR front hub bearings My questions are: Is this possible? If so How does one go about doing this. I have stripped the back SLR hub with no problems, but cannot seem to figure the front one out.

Was there to do the Stage race. Only rode on Saturday though, was awesome. My riding partners said I missed out on Sunday's ride.
