  1. Beautiful... but those Time frames are SOOO expensive... guess the only way to (sort of) justify it is that the seatpost and headset are usually included. Is that Super Record on there, Chris?
  2. L Glutamine really does work (at least for me it does)... I use the flavoured Biogen one (lemon lime). Easy to drink as it tastes nice. Worked like a bomb for Epic training.
  3. Strongly agree with Ox_Wagon, have been running the same config on my MTB with great results. Switched my Race King at the back for a Mountain King after stage 1 of the Epic, was not getting great traction in very loose sand, the Mountain King worked much better and I kept that setup for the rest of Epic. In general, mountain king front and race king rear (both 2.2) has worked great for me.
  4. Looking forward to seeing some more pics... am also considering sending my Bianchi to them for an upgrade!
  5. One scoop Biogen protein powder, one scoop Cytomax Recovery, one teaspoon L-Glutamine powder. Used it after each stage of the Epic, worked like a charm.
  6. I agree with the guys that suggest including it in your household policy. This is what I have done with SA Eagle. When I crashed my bike last year, my left Campy Record shifter cracked, right one was badly scratched, they paid for a replacement of the set with no excess. My insurance broker knows that I care for my bike far more than my car - it ranks much higher on my policy!

    CRC

There are plenty of threads covering this topic on the Hub... basically it depends on what you are ordering, as a general rule components and parts only attract 14% VAT, whereas clothing and other finished goods also attract another 15% on top of the VAT inclusive amount. CRC is incredibly reliable... I bought all of my spares for the Epic from them - 3 separate orders - all of which arrived safely and on time. Make sure you spend over R3.5k to qualify for free Parcelforce International shipping.
  8. Might join you... will let you know before Friday
  9. Also dont think it happens overnight, I'm sure its only when you get on a new frame that you'd notice the difference. Sounds like you have had experience with viagra?
  10. Thanks bored girl - are you saying that only because you just got a nice new frame ??
  11. Hi Hubbers, am looking for some advice on what the average lifespan of a carbon frame is, and at what stage one should consider upgrading to maintain performance levels. I have a Bianchi carbon frame that I have been riding for just over 2 years now, and have put between 7,000 and 8,000km on it. It still feels reasonably stiff, however I have been told recently that I should consider upgrading it as its 2 years old. Opinions would be welcome on whether I should consider this, or rather keep riding it until I notice a marked deterioration in performance or something actually cracks. I'm not sure of the exact structural properties of carbon and the extent to which the fibre integrity deteriorates over time. Help please Thanks!
  12. As far as I know, basemap is a basic map of the world with no streetmaps. I reckon the one on CRC includes no streetmaps, UK or elsewhere. Also not 100% convinced there is no import duty. I once ordered a Polar HRM from the US and got hit hard by SARS (admittedly it may have been one official looking to supplement his monthly income at the time).
  13. Flipping nice...
  14. Bear in mind that the maps are pretty expensive if you buy them outright (i.e. without them coming with a unit). Also, you will get charged around 31% VAT and import duty (14% and 15% respectively). EasyGIS.co.za offers great service and post sales backup - which is worth paying for in my opinion. I also personally dont think the cadence and speed sensor is worth paying extra for. I have a 705 and love it.
  15. My wife would slaughter me if she came home and found a bike on the couch...
  16. Can you use carbon brake pads with them?
  17. Beautiful... am also considering having my machine done by them... their work is amazing!
  18. Nice photo, like the angle of the top tube and the glimmer of the sun on carbon!
