  2. You are a day early Dale... that is the Profile for tomorrow This is the profile for today. But yes, still one for the breakaway IMHO
  3. Thanks, that was a good read.
  4. He might be a bit disappointed in his results, but I have to say, he did hit the deck quite hard on that tough uphill finish on stage 1. He would have had a 3rd-place finish there and then most likely some better results in the rest of the stages if he didn't make contact with the tarmac.
  5. Winds... Teams trying to split it... 80km out. Tune in if you can
  6. Silver lining from all the drama of the damage to his eye: He can go recover and build up again to be in peak form for Le Tour... giving the other puncheur-sprinters a hard time on the biggest cycling platform there is.
  7. Girmay to put on the Ciclamino Jersey with that win?
  8. Girmay you bizkit! To beat MvdP is a big achievement!
  9. Riders are going to sweat this next week, as temperatures soar. Temps might be hitting 40s in Spain or France. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/may/16/unusually-high-temperatures-to-hit-western-europe-this-week
  10. To keep us all properly on our toes w.r.t. team names, Deceuninck is joining Alpecin in sporsorship of the team currently known as Alpecin-Fenix. At LeTour it will be Alpecin-Deceuninck, not to be confused for the team that Julian Allaphillipe will be representing, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl(Formerly known as Deceuninck-QuickStep) 😵
  11. Very true. Pierre Spies comes to mind, also a Nylstroom native, got picked up by Affies after he was identified in primary school as a promising talent.
  12. Hoërskool Nylstroom. The only Springbok that got recognized out of the school in the past 30 years is Arno Botha. So by no means an obvious rugby powerhouse of a school.
  13. He misread that corner completely, lucky to find a gap between the wall and barrier for a "softer" landing. Hope he makes it to the finish without injury.
  14. If Drive To Survive was accurate:
  15. Thrilling finish between these riders!
  16. Davide Formolo (UAE Team Emirates), Koen Bouwman, Tom Dumoulin (Jumbo-Visma), Diego Camargo (EF Education-EasyPost), Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo), Wout Poels (Bahrain-Victorious) and Davide Villella (Cofidis) I'm not going to pick one, but it is setting up for one of these okes in the break taking the win today.
  17. Breakaway taking shape on the inclines now. Wout Poels way in front, many trying to join him.
  18. 30kms in and no break is established, yet, but not for a lack of trying. The parcours could favour a breakaway win, so nobody wants to miss it. Average speed is currently at 50km/h.
  19. Cav's chances of taking another stage win just took a serious knock:
  20. Look at Caleb's shoulders and how far ahead of Demare he is
  21. Spot on! Demare steals it with the throw.
  22. 56 more kilometers... this. is. taking. forever Kudos to Deigo Rosa for taking on the challenge, but this is...
  23. Would be interesting to know what his exact plan is for the year. He might be doing the Giro with some stage wins and those first days in Pink as his goals. He might then pull the plug in the 2nd or 3rd week to go recover and start his prep for TDF. If he goes too deep in chasing the Points jersey here, it might scupper any TDF ambitions he might have. Winning Green in Paris is arguably one of the biggest achievements he can add to his current long list...
