  1. Yep. I heard the latest DSTV advert over the radio. Something along the lines of: "You get Movies... Series... Sport.... Documentaries... Kids programming... news.... AAAA.... BBBB.... CCCC.... DDDD" But I don't want all that. They want to force you to buy all that content if all you want is Sport...? That isn't going to fly, especially if you are going to bill close to double what my uncapped Fibre Line is costing me. Dedicated Sport Streaming services and VPN is the answer. And for Springbok Rugby, we'll go braai at the in-laws...

  3. Very Cool. Been waiting for a company like Wahoo to do a Smart Roller Trainer. Looking forward to the real-world feedback on these.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but today's date is quite unique: (PS. Not my own work, stole it from another forum)
  5. https://sectionaa.co.za/more-info/ More of a Renewable energy project than a bike project, but still interesting to follow. And looking at some of the cumulative km's some users on here put up, they would do this solo on a Gravel bike in even shorter time. But I think the focus of the project is to cover the distance predominantly on solar power. https://sectionaa.co.za/ @Matt, please merge with relevant thread if this has already been shared elsewhere.
  6. Innings and 276 runs, thus our 2nd biggest defeat ever. Hard one to understand after we toppled India.

I do hope we see some sensible changes to race rules going forward. I personally have an issue with the unlapping of cars. It does not make any sense. Once you are lapped, you have proven that you are not as fast as the guys on the lead lap. Why do you get the benefit of gaining a lap back for no reason other than that you will be in the way of the lead cars at the restart. My solution to a fair restart. Let all the lapped drivers drop back through the field, behind the lead lap cars, or said the other way round: All drivers on the lead lap are allowed to overtake lapped cars while behind the SAFETY Car to be able to start in the correct order at the front, followed by cars on 1 lap down, then 2 laps down(Mazepin). It is quick to effect (can be done within a couple straights), and doesn't give an unfair boost to cars that were 1 lap down.

Match results influenced by shoddy refereeing is very seldomly overturned. Only when clear corruption is proven. And in those games, normally a rematch is scheduled, you don't just hand the victory to the other team. Many examples in Rugby with shoddy refereeing, results never overturned. I don't see why this would be any different. The 2007 Sharks team still feel the result was "stolen" due to that dodgy ruck in the final play. But the result stands and the Bulls and their supporters sleep very well with that result.
  9. Yoh! Luckily it seems we will not be recording our biggest test defeat this time, but it might make our top 5... PS. 2002 was a tough season, results wise.

Headsup, the subscription auto-renewals are rolling thru and they come to about R719 for the year. Caught some people off-guard. Best to cancel it beforehand instead of going through the schlep to get the money returned.

Aside from the wheel covers that seem a bit dull, I like the overall look of the new cars.
  13. 41.9%... Nope.. Not interested.. Not even a little...Thank you. But please do come back and share your own experience...
  14. Oi, stop agreeing so much. This is not what we are here for!
  15. Truth. It has drifted up and down since then, but stayed mostly in the same band, except for some exceptional instances. (Des comes to mind)
  16. I agree somewhat on our Rand depreciation playing a part, but talking about R40k phones, this phone is also good enough to satisfy most of your Smartphone needs, for R4999. https://www.takealot.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-10s-128gb-onyx-grey/PLID72926997 The Fenix 3 was a nice sweet spot of leading-functionality and price, but the current Fenix pricing is pushing it out to elite hardware. Which seems to be mirroring what is taking place in the smartphone space too. Might be a good time to rethink what we really need in terms of hardware I think a large portion of the crowd that wore the Fenix 3 will be happy with the functionality of the ForeRunner745, at R6999. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/product-comparison-calculator?type=watch&ids=132247%2C40806%2C117382#results
  17. Yeah, to be honest, I can't see you getting anywhere going this route. Please do keep us posted if you do decide to go ahead, as I would be very keen to hear how it all unfolds. I haven't dealt too much with lawyers, but be aware of the fees that any lawyer will charge you to fight this. I don't know if there is a way you can negotiate the fees on a no-win no-fees basis, but even then, I think their fees will outrun the value of the watch a couple of times over. The suggestion above from AdamA to have it Replaced for R4000 and then selling it on Marketplace is the best outcome for your pocket. Then for your own wellbeing, move along to another brand that you deem have a better Warranty policy and/or longevity. Sometimes it is better to summon your inner Idina Menzel and "Let it go!"
  18. Agree. I see those numbers as "Service ceiling". Theoretically I might be able to get there, but that would be my absolute limit. Of the distances I have completed, my PB's are out by: 5k: 1min20s 10k: 4min 21k: 14mins If I didn't have kids and could train to my maximum effect and my diet was on-point, sure, those numbers might have been possible. But right now, they keep my mind at ease that there is no need to think about numbers any lower than those reported, for any distance. Ain't gonna happen.
  19. Apologies. Removed.
  20. General attitude towards cyclists in our country means I am not getting back on a road bike soon. Edit : Apologies if sharing the posts from other forum was in bad taste

  22. All of them.... And it wasn't just the shot that was taken. It was another beer or two... We were there for at least two hours, so some might have had even more drinks.
  23. I think the tide is turning. We were at a kids party at 3PM on a Sunday afternoon recently at a Family Restaurant(No not Spur ) As soon as the kids went to play, the parents of the birthday-kid brought around a serving plate full of shots. I was having an internal struggle as I didn't want to offend the host, but I really didn't want to drink. Luckily the guy seated next to me declined, which released my self-doubt and I declined, so did my wife, and the couple sitting across from us also declined. Nobody got ribbed for not taking it. I think society is slowly seeing a realization that alcohol is not the be-all and end-all. At least in some of the circles I frequent. But unfortunately this is slow progress and a large portion of society is not there yet.
