  1. The thing is, even if the ref was severely biased, it won't change the result. Has there ever been a sports result that has been overturned on biased refereeing? The ref will get n reprimand and could be demoted to league games, but I can't see FIFA calling for a replay of a match.
  2. FYI for anyone wondering about it: Substitutions can now only be done in-person at number collection. You can make a booking to enter the Expo without a valid entry behind your name.
  3. The plan was for me to take over someone else's entry that couldn't make the event, but that person has seemingly fallen off the face of the earth since reaching out to confirm the substitution on Friday. Thus, If anyone here can't attend anymore please drop me a PM.
  4. Thankfully, it seems the low temperatures are still in the prediction. That in itself would be great compared to the years when it was 32°C at 9AM in the Start shoots...
  5. Apparently the last three races are all high-speed tracks, ie. it favours a car with more top-end speed... Merc If that engine in Car 44 keeps its form, well, Max can do what he wants but will be left in the dust. Well done to the MERC Engineers with whatever they did to that engine, but it will be disheartening to see Max lose this championship due to him being a sitting duck on the straights in the final 4 races. But if history has taught us anything in this season, nothing is assured. RB can come with their own tricks and surprise us all somewhere in the final races. Fingers crossed
  6. With the way LH came through the field in 24 Laps, I can see Max sharing the podium with both Merc's. Anyone's guess what order, but Bottas will be well rewarded if he defends a move at turn 1 very aggressively. Even if it means contact with Max. Max will be weary to keep his nose clean. If it isn't clear, pull out to contest again later. 1.BOT 2.VER 3.HAM feels likely Alternatively 1. VER 2.HAM 3.BOT (Team orders)
  7. Agree wholeheartedly, on a day-to-day basis, especially regarding thunderstorms. But this one looks like a system that will be settling-in for a couple of days... Could be wrong. But best to get the mindsets ready for it. https://sawx.co.za/rainfall-reenval/
  8. ???? 6m/s = 21km/h... it is not nothing....
  9. Wet weather tyres might be the order of the day if the trend holds...
  10. See below I feel for the ladies
  11. Personally I think both options are fine right now in SA. It is not about being foolproof, but rather playing the odds. If someone wants to go forge a vaccination certificate then so be it. The organizers need to comply with regulations within reason to be able to get authorization from authorities for the event to proceed. I don't think they will be overly fussy with regards to what form of proof you produce. I'm still considering a late entry, but I don't see any option on the website. Anybody know if it is an option this year?
  12. MAN ALIVE, I never knew Taylor had those pipes in him. Lastly, Dave's daughter does a fun song with them on stage. I watched the entire 2 hour set last night(it is somewhere on YT). Looks like a great band to go watch live.
  13. Somebody to love - performed by Taylor Hawkins (Dave Grohl on drums)
  14. I did a second lap once... and I promise you, it looked nothing like that. #NeverAgain
  15. Next year is going to be a blast with new regulations coming in. I think the days of comfortable 1,2's in Qualifying for MBs are long gone already. Bottas seems to be pipping Lewis in Q3 regularly too. George has already made a name for himself in qualifying way above where everyone expected him to. So if he qualifies ahead of the Red Bulls and Lewis starts behind them, it really doesn't lend itself to sacrificing Russel for Lewis. You give the guy in front the best chance to beat the RB's. If Lewis thought this year is a tough championship to win, he might be in for a major surprise next year.
  16. I wonder at what price you will be able to land this beauty in current times https://www.linkedin.com/posts/yannickwillemin_bicycle-innovation-additivemanufacturing-activity-6861353836003528704-rdZf
  17. No obvious place to put this, so I'll put it here. The pro's are just on another level. Imagine these rockets flying past you on those climbs in Kyalami on 947.
  18. One thing that stands in our favour is that we will know exactly what is required from us before the first ball is bowled in our match as their match concludes just before ours starts.
  19. Bangladesh (15/20 ov) All out for 73 C'mon Chris Gayle!
  20. A VB rider is competing against his VB batch, nobody else. He can be faster than all VA riders sure, but he won't then win the VA batch. He will just have completed the race quicker. If you want to be in the running for the title of Overall winner of 947, you need to qualify for the elite batch and then beat the riders in that batch. And yes, you have multiple winners, each according to their batch.
  21. Yep, if we can't win our final three games we don't deserve the playoffs. If we now go on and win the three games handsomely and still don't qualify, then I'll feel miff. I've actually made peace that we are not going to feature this tournament, too many off-the-field crap. I'm just going to enjoy the contest between the other nations as getting worked up about the Proteas never does me any good.
  22. What I wonder about is how the Rugby administrators can get it so right and the Cricket administrators cannot? Look, we had Camp Staaldraad in die 2000s, so the rugby administrators can stuff it up when they want to. But during World Cups, they seem able to leave the team alone to do what they need to. Why is it, that time after time there seems to be some meddling from the "Board" or from Politicians during Cricket World Cups. Let the players get on with it in peace. Let's hope the dust settles quickly on this one and that we can finally get some lucky breaks within matches at the WC.
  23. It is a one-liner within the statement, but at least they concede that they stuffed up the timing on this. https://cricket.co.za/2021/10/28/cricket-south-africa-welcomes-developments-regarding-taking-the-knee/ Posted at 08:44h in CSA News, Proteas - Men by admin@csa JOHANNESBURG: Last night, the Cricket South Africa Board Chair and two directors met with the men’s Proteas team and management to discuss the Board’s directive regarding “taking the knee”. The Board representatives clarified the Board position and engaged with the issues raised by the players. Following the meeting, the Proteas men’s team agreed to align and unify in taking the knee for the remaining fixtures of the World Cup campaign. CSA has also noted the statement issued by Quinton de Kock in which he too has agreed to take the knee and issued an apology. Cricket South Africa welcomes all of these developments. They confirm Cricket South Africa’s commitment to non-racism. Taking a united stance against racism is a moral issue, not a political issue. The CSA Board regrets that the timing of its directive earlier this week may have been unsettling for the players in the lead-up to the match against the West Indies. The CSA is fully supportive of the Protea Men’s team and its captain Temba Bavuma and looks forward to continued successes by the Proteas at the World Cup. 24. I could suggest that you recently got "chipped", but this thread won't make it past lunchtime, so I won't...
  25. A Key excerpt for me from his statement: "I think it would of been better for everyone concerned if we had sorted this out before the tournament started. Then we could have focused on our job, to win cricket matches for our country. There always seems to be a drama when we go to World Cups. That isn't fair."
