  1. Apologies. Removed.
  2. General attitude towards cyclists in our country means I am not getting back on a road bike soon. Edit : Apologies if sharing the posts from other forum was in bad taste

  4. All of them.... And it wasn't just the shot that was taken. It was another beer or two... We were there for at least two hours, so some might have had even more drinks.
  5. I think the tide is turning. We were at a kids party at 3PM on a Sunday afternoon recently at a Family Restaurant(No not Spur ) As soon as the kids went to play, the parents of the birthday-kid brought around a serving plate full of shots. I was having an internal struggle as I didn't want to offend the host, but I really didn't want to drink. Luckily the guy seated next to me declined, which released my self-doubt and I declined, so did my wife, and the couple sitting across from us also declined. Nobody got ribbed for not taking it. I think society is slowly seeing a realization that alcohol is not the be-all and end-all. At least in some of the circles I frequent. But unfortunately this is slow progress and a large portion of society is not there yet.

  8. Fantastic approach 👍 BTW. I sucked at guitar lessons, but I did it nonetheless for two years. Some things are just NOT in your wheelhouse, and that is fine. I might have benefitted from it somewhere else unbeknownst. But at least I have some serious appreciation for someone who does it seamlessly. My biggest drive, after schoolwork, will be to get the kids to partake in team sports. Even if they just make up the numbers, they need to get exposure to a situation where the focus is on the collective effort and doing something for the benefit for someone else instead of yourself. If they can be good teammates to other kids I will feel my job as a parent is halfway there.
  9. There is truth in what you say, even if it is only perception. But worth noting, the Blitsboks made the effort to be top of their game with all the disruptions that are going around. They ensured they are in safe sporting bubbles and went through the hassles to be at these tournaments. So well done to them. Winning 29 games on the trot is no mean feat, even with Fiji and NZ not present. In many other tournaments we have fallen out of contention by losing to the "minor" teams like USA etc.
  10. "The Sabana University Clinic, where he was being treated, announced that he had undergone an operation for a fractured femur, patella and chest trauma." That really sucks. Hope he gets back to his best.
  11. Seems we found some rabbits 171/2 after 30, it would indicate something in the order of 340 runs was on the cards. Now at 239/6, after 44. Seems like INDIA will be happy with anything close to 290. Nice fightback by our fielders and bowlers.
  12. In the test matches it was shown the value of "catches win matches". Well right now, we have dropped two chances and messed up a clear run-out opportunity. With the momentum the indians have right now, we will be chasing something in the order of 340-360...Unless we pull some rabbits out of the hat.
  13. Following the comments on ESPNCricinfo, it seems Jansen was rested due to the large workload he had in the tests and the last ODI. I can get behind that and some squad rotation. But there might have been a better option when looking at the current bowling figures: He gave up 29 runs in three overs(Econ=9.7), while Ngidi gave up 16 in 4 (ECON=4)
  14. Not a great start thus far...
  15. In my time, 2004, you were able to knock off Distinctions in your Grade 10 and Grade 11 years as additional subjects. Think of subjects like Computer Typing or something fairly "Easy". So I distinctly remember kids achieving 12 or 14 Distinctions, but achieved over a couple of years. That was changed a couple of years later, you only got recognition for the subjects you wrote in your Final Exam in Grade 12. Doing 10 Distinctions in a single Matric Year is a massive effort, no way one tries to cut it. As for my own achievements... I "only" got 6, Average of 93.5%, finished 7th in the Province for Matric results. I didn't strive for additional subjects, but rather went for the Multi-Discipline approach by doing as many different things in my Grade 12 year to be a well rounded individual(Rugby, Tennis, Leadership roles, Voortrekkers, "Toneel") All of that work paid off handsomely. All my 1st year studies were paid through University Grants for good results and then full bursary from 2nd-year onwards. Work interviews also went well from the start as the work that was put in during School Years reflected to the employer what kind of rounded person they are looking at. My eldest child is only starting Grade 1 now, but I will strive for them to be well rounded individuals, not focusing on anything specifically, but always keeping Schoolwork up-to-standard. Once you fall behind there it is very difficult to catch back up.
  16. Well done to the Proteas, especially Bavuma & RvD! Massive knocks by them. A key observation made by an viewer:
  17. Went riding there a bunch of times at the start of 2021. Was well maintained and access is good, just enter via die pedestrian gate at 30th Ave and Crots, or alternatively at the reservoir past Wonderboom HS. Haven't been riding there lately but we did a short walk with the family a couple of months back and all seems in good nick. Might be heavily overgrown now with all the rain, so just take it easy.
  18. I might be late to the party on this, but seems Zwift leaked some info on their planned IDTs: https://zwiftinsider.com/zwift-ride-wheel/ I wouldn't kick it out of bed...
  19. Lekker Boytjies! Massive fight shown in the series!
  20. Winning this Test and Series will give the current squad so much positive vibes, I really hope they can pull this off. We deserve a solid run again away from the drama that plagued our cricket in the recent past.

For me, it just shows what is possible, even though it is currently not feasible for many. https://www.cyclingnews.com/reviews/supersapiens-review-the-first-continuous-blood-glucose-monitor-for-performance/
