  1. I am speechless. Is a person's life really that cheap? We live in a very sick society, and yet we see this as the "new normal". Sick...
  2. Feel for the clean pro's out there. Really difficult to get sponsors nowadays. But there is still a few rotten apples out there. Many of the fellow pro's know who they are, but nailing these guys takes way too long. They need to speed the testing process up a bit. Lawyers and Dopers
  3. Put on a wolverine on my front replacing a maxxis crossmark. It is tight on my ZTR flow rim. The thing is it seems to puncture very easily even with small thorns. have been sprayed with sealant a few times. Hope never to get a irrepairable puncture and try to put on a tube. Screwed. Wont be using a wolverine again Concerning wolverines, see that you have WTB rims-fits easily, and are bulletproof. Best tyre I have used thus far,and I do ride some very harsh terrain regularly.I have been through all the brands out there and by far the best concerning sidewall damage and grip. They are heavy, but I will compromise weight over reliability. As for spraying sealant-have a look at type of sealant you are using. I found that some sealants are very watery/diluted.
  4. Looking at value for money, a well specced HT will still be an upgrade on a heavy DS. Just my 2 cents worth
  5. Ridiculous price for a bicycle. Out of range for the 99%, but if you are in the fortunate 1%, good for you. Just remember that the people shall govern-not anytime soon, but eventually, one day we hope.... Hopefully your butler will pass on the message
  6. My 2 cents worth is to go for the dale. The oversized tubing reduces vibration, improves handling, and everything feels more plush. Better resell value on cannondales in general.A No brainer really, but I expect to be hauled over the coles, by some of the experts.
  7. I also hate cyclists, especially those that are faster than me, or riding the bike I always wanted, yes and those that nod and smile when passing while I'm dying up a hill.... That feels better-got it out of my system.
  8. My personal preference to counter a strong headwind is.... to turn around!
  9. Worst race on the calendar. Last year it was like herding cattle around a block of vineyards-accidents waiting on every corner. Some folks enjoy the big crowds with the facebook "like". Noobs on their new bikes treating he first 20 as a sprint, and walking on the hills. with lycra creeping up the wrong end. It's like month-end shopping at the mall
  10. I am not an expert, but if you are starting off, rather start with a decent entry level bike, instead of spending 20k+, and you might not even enjoy the sport.First ask yourself: What is my short term goals? a]get fit b] to improve my riding skills or c]enter a stage race. If you are still learning the ropes and getting fit, save your money, and buy 2nd hand
  11. A proper HT can give you hours of pleasure. If you are fit and technically strong, you should be able to cope with anything mother nature throws at you. If I wanted comfort, I will strap a Lazy-Boy to my bike. Unfortunately a proper stage race dual-susser will set you back about 50k. A well specced HT is only 30k. Rather put the difference in price towards some of the new seat posts which have a bit of flex in it. I enjoy riding, as well as the pain that comes with it. I did not sign up to mtb for comfort
  12. I had the same problem on my flash.Could be a number of things, but what I found after cleaning and lube just about everything, is the seat positioning. The rails are either to far forward or back, which means after a while your weight distribution on the saddle, forces it to start creaking. If you still have issues, best is to just replace the seat clamp. The thread could be worn, which can also lead to strange noises.
  13. "Classic" bike! Should be one of the rides at Ratanga Junction
  14. My first road bike was a Trek 1000 with Sora...stay away from it, it's rubbish! Rather go for a secondhand bike at that price. For 7k I got a Cannondale Synapse with Ultegra 10 speed. It was low mileage and with carbon frame, bars, stem, seatpost etc. Easy decision, if you have to choose between Trek and Merida, choose Cannondale!
  15. None of them deserve any recognition of any kind. It's not that they cheated or doped, but he way they went about it. Lance was probably the best of the lot, but it is not something to be proud of
