  1. My 2 cents worth. I have also been battling with knee pain over the last 6 months, and after exploring various options and adjustments, my physio noticed that despite a correct set-up, I have been compensating for an old injury. It was physiological. I was literally been pigeon toeing my one leg, and dropping my one shoulder in order to "protect" my ribs I fractured 2 years ago. The amount of damage I did to my knee, has left to intense physio over the last couple of months. It is finally clearing up, but just a different perspective of what could bring certain injuries about.
  2. Been riding mine for a couple of months now, and it has got very much a hardtail feel about it. All depends on your setup, but if you like to go hard and fast, it is the bike for you. Already cracked a set of carbon wheels on it, but the Evil Twin is a lot of fast fun, and definitely worth it.As for all the rumours around the future of the company, until there is a formal media release, there is nothing to worry about it
  3. The Cube is a really good buy, only hiccup being that TK Silver fork, but that is something you can always upgrade. Bike Addict is running a really good deal on them. I rode carbon hardtails for years, and only recently moved over to the duallies, but if you are looking for something fast and responsive the Cube GTC offers great value for money
  4. It is about time to have a thread about proper bicycles. My Evil Twin. It's fast and furious
  5. I have a hardtail that I haven't listed in the classifieds yet. At the bike shop for a service, but is sub 10kg,and very well specced for a lot less than you are willing to spend. Drop me a message if you are interested.
  6. Been there, and unfortunately it is a long road back. Physio good place to start, but check your bike set up as well. Don't rush getting back on the bike, otherwise you can cause permanent damage.
  7. Best to get a 8volt (think) double battery. There will be some sections at night where you can do with a bit more light. Two of those and you will have no worries. Struggling to find any of them for sale. Sportsworld use to stock them. Don't forget a torch or a beetlelight as well. Very handy in the middle of the freezing Karoo nights
  8. All the climbing is my biggest concern. The stretch leading up to Rooiberg, as well as the final stage is immense. My knees were screaming at me last year. Focusing less on distance, but more on strength training. There is no winning recipe for this race.
  9. Quick question: Anyone done 360 one, and followed it up doing the Trans Karoo? Just need to know if a 2 week recovery will be sufficient. Doing my second 360one,but this event has really tickled my fancy. Any feedback will be appreciated

  11. I am speechless. Is a person's life really that cheap? We live in a very sick society, and yet we see this as the "new normal". Sick...
  12. My experience last year... it can get quite nippy, to downright freezing-arm/legwarmers/buffs/baselayers- you will need all of them. Depends at what time you are aiming for, best to get rid of all the thermal wear at the halfway mark, as temperatures climb significantly during the day.
  13. I have two sets of Hope / Arch 29er. I have hammered these for two years +. I weigh 115kg and take no prisoners in riding technical terrain. I probably kill two sets of tyres per season. Geesh, you guys don't mess around on the scale... Amazing what punishment wheels and a bike can take. This is the last time I complain about my weight. My 2 cents worth: bought a set of wheels from Tri-Cycles (edge design 1650 g) for 3k, and they run very fast and smoothly, but then again I only weigh about 70 kg's.
  14. Been through every well known brand out there, and only two stand out: Maxxis(Ikon/Ardent) and WTB. (Wolverine/Weirwolf) Save yourself the heartache on any of the other brands. Durability comes first
  15. Feel for the clean pro's out there. Really difficult to get sponsors nowadays. But there is still a few rotten apples out there. Many of the fellow pro's know who they are, but nailing these guys takes way too long. They need to speed the testing process up a bit. Lawyers and Dopers
