  1. Wifi is simple ... its crap unless its works, then its not so crap. My wifi mythology is simple, if connected and works, just leave it alone. on home automation you don't need speed , just need stay connected.
  2. Jumping in here .. house been automated for about 9 years now with many different technologies over the years. Settled on 1 system for last 5... MQTT MQTT is the central buss of all communications, all devices simply talk to or get alerts from it. Running following: Custom ESP8266 device to interface to Paradox MG5050 system alarmQwickswitch USB to mqtt gateway for dimmers/wall switches (5 ish)Sonoff for on/off and temprature sensors (already does mqtt) (about 20)DuhnHam bush Aircon to MQTT gateway (2 units)Custom esp8266 12v dimmers for LED that speaks MQTT (~5 units)Barionet 100 speaking mqtt for "old lights" system in house (1 controlling 5 lights)Openhab running on PI (still looking for better system, need reboot every few months)Alexa connected to openhab cloud (just works)Homekit connected to openhab ()Victron CCGX mqtt to get solar stats.probably few other things I might have forgotten (have 48+ wifi devices registered most of the times..) They MAIN thing with homeautomation is to always remmeber .. if you need to touch or do something for your house todo something , its not automation , its simply a glorified wall switch . If you need assistance .. welcome to ask , I've tested, made/done most homeautomation things over the years
  3. It was seeding event last time .. maybe drop them email and confirm ?
  4. Nice .... I've never been able to blame my bike ;-( might have to downgrade to have a excuse
  5. ooo nice ... New road bike? (assume so, bit dumb todo one tonner on e-bike)
  6. But is it worth the risk before 1 tonner weekend .. that is what going through my mind........ either people ride sensible in wet, or go down left/right/center. and with new route .. it seems like going be fast one ..
  7. Race Size was factor in 2017.. dropped 2018 onwards. 2017 had split on size and gender if I recall, not at pc now to verify
  8. yup .. don't make sense. . hopefully they will change next year .
  9. Was for this season .. but might change next year... Its creating problems such as where people go race without entering/paying as they already have a number.....
  10. They use the SASC, but also with own bylaws. The points system calculation changed 2018 from 2017. 2019 is using 2018 ruleset. The SASC rule book is "suggestion" so its up to the province to make there own. (NW use different points allocation). It used to be that there was difference points allocated between race group sizes, now its only depending on male/female , Female getting 15 points for win, male getting 35 in WC , NW its 15/25 The schools get all points off all riders for said school. Each rider gets highest 3 points for the season , lowest points get dropped. If there tie between points, the last race position determine the winner. So if 2 people have 150 points and 1 win last race, that person is winner. Seeding takes the top 50 based on points, if same points, then last race determine position. There is no difference between primary/secondary school regarding points. Home schools don't get any points. kids from other regions can participate, but no points allocated (you get points only if you race in own region). Hope that make sense If there is any calculations that is wrong, PLEASE drop Spur guys an email, if you don't come right there, drop me PM so I can check. I think points has been finalized, so doubt can change it, but can fix it for next year.
  11. The points rules on website as far I know is old... I will try find latest (but don't hold your breath). It changes each season and each province have own rules as well. I can tell you how the points on the site is calculated if you really want to know.. .
  12. Next time be that guy and speak to the “idiot” and tell him/her to either ride straight or sit at back...( my favorite pastime ). He/she probably did not even know he/she was doing it , not an excuse, but he/she might always ride on his own and not know...
  13. 40% less entries than last year .. 60% less than average really wondering why noone is doing events anymore . Saturation of market? Edit, formatting
  14. The d-h winners screwed up the beta .. 0.68 . same route last year beta was 1.05 . At least moved up a group
  15. See route updated again to exclude gravel. Few extra km now though
  16. There is 2 climbs/bumbs. rest is flat/FAST. we did 36.6 last year from c-d batch
  17. Missing it this year ..... ;-(
  18. Sorry, needed to be more clear about Question. D-H left 2-3 minutes after A-C .., they merged about 1 hr into the race, so all d-h riders will have 2-3 minute time advantage at the line, that why i'm asking if they actually crossed line first and winning the race official (which would be great) or did the AC guys outsprint them at end ;-)
  19. Anyone know if the racetec d-h batch race winners was first over the line as well?
  20. Hopefully its wrong on the maps cause that is 14km of dirt road.
  21. old route was simple ... ride very easy (z3) with the group that formed after hells hoogte (everyone splits there) then cycle and stop together at riebeek wes waterpoint. Then split again up bothmans climb and make new groups other side from there you have chat with who ever you are with to figure out when to stop again as you normally then stop more often (heat/wind etc). Guess new route will be simular .. Bains is LONG climb, big boys will be about 10-15 minutes behind the goats at the top, catch them at about riebeek if we work together, dropped again up the bothmans hill. Then depending on short route guys/traffic and wind, its either group ride or self defence , like 2017, till split between 100/160km.. Then solo ride to finish (you will probably stop at each waterpoint at this point). Well, that normally how goes for the d-f batches Main thing .. Think easy for first 100km, eat/drink often. Then medium till 140km, eat/drink often.. then hang on till end..
  22. Only thing i'm hopping is that full road closer over bains ... but i also still believe in Santa...
  23. 160km route updated on : https://pedalpower.org.za/events/pedal-power-association-244/
  24. I'm talking the old routes … new route I have no idea ..
  25. Big issue is cost. Typical one farm access for event is about R30-40k. (STB used to go over 4/5) Add R10k per police managed crossing. All sudden you need massive sponsors to just to brake even, let alone make money. There simply no big sponsorships (500k+) to make big events happen so everyone is going where they can still make money.
