  1. personally I would rather wait till about Wednesday to enter .. they been cancelling last minute lately
  2. carefull of talking about my wife like that! O you mean the mamil on the bike....
  3. Just go ride if its your time, its your time.. your more likely to get hit by a mom in her SUV texting her skelmpie than mugged its argus season .. hundreds of cyclist on the road around here at moment every day.
  4. Seems your right, I just got 2 emails this year as I got reseeded so checked wrong one (facepalm) First email: date: Feb 13, 2019, 4:48 PM Second date: Mar 6, 2019, 2:00 PM
  5. About week before.. long wait
  6. Paper numbers are normally temp number (non ppa members) and is only for that days race then the fabric number is the yearly permanent number (ppa members) and then you get seeding sticker for each ppa event that goes on fabric number
  7. there was an ebike mtb in the bike park... ....
  8. i did 3:20 ctc, DC official time ~5:50, ~7 hrs on road.. you just need team that works together... which is the most difficult part...
  9. The 30 min stops again is saftey thing was 280 teams this year, 2km long feeding zones. Takes about 5-10 mins just to get to your car, now imagine 3000 riders racing past people running to the loo, Having chat in middle road. Falling over cooler boxes etc. Just not my idea of fun.. This was my 4th DC and wont change a thing.. it just works... just wish legs would as well to the end..
  10. 2nd last weekend of November normally. First batch sold out in 1min 30s this year, not sure about rest.. think corporate had entries for while. its getting rather difficult to find teams , know few people that did not ride as could not find any teams to join , all full, even our team started with 12 this year...
  11. Cant keep roads closed all day, so then traffic becomes safety issues the fast teams are suppose to know how to ride a bike and pass without issues. we passed alot, got passed few times.. just shouted alot and all knew what was going on, no issues at all..
  12. Is that speed in race or solo?
  13. at one tonner large amount was not detected over start mats (interferance) and there times was all the time of day they finished.. Took racetec about 2 weeks to sort out the issues
  14. Guess its same as with one tonner, they don't know his start time/group, so the time on racetec is the actual time of day crossing the finish line
  15. You still sit on bike for 202km, timed is about 187?
  16. Take anything that might make your CV end up in the bin (Age/Gender/Race/Address/Photo) etc of your CV. I've seen WAY to many cv get binned just based on age/address . so my CV have nothing on it , just my name (which is luckily gender neutral) and my experience. Let them phone you disclose little as possible, they WILL discriminate although not allowed to, and disclose in the interview .. at least, like other said, you have foot in the door by then. O ja .. also make sure your cv is 3 pages max .. first page is very short intro . 3 paragraphs max, other 2 pages is detailed summary of latest jobs/responsibilities. You can send them a full cv on request. After working at a place where you have to go through tons of CV's often, you get tired of looking for info and long/thick CV's mostley get binned.
  17. APPARENTLEY you not allowed to give bad reference .. only allowed to comment if you something good to say. Someone once gave me up as a reference after we fired him for lying on CV and being absolutely useless. , he got fired after 6 hours at his job I gave the recruiter who phoned my very graphic honest opinion no knowing that I was suppose to only give positive feedback .. Still wonder if that person got the job
  18. 2019 was different. No idea was 2020 will be like
  19. If this year is anything to go by, then any PPA event will still give you seeding, and even a boosted seeding.. Tour de PPA was last one this year ....
  20. Full PPA email... Every year, as we head into the Spring cycling season, we make some changes to the seeding calculation, making the Cycle Tour the base event against which all other results are measured. With this year’s Cycle Tour having been exceptionally windy, the index increased (Note: “Index” measures how far you finished behind the Cycle Tour winner and we apply this differential to all your event results after the Cycle Tour). The net result of everyone having higher indexes is that we have needed to adjust the cut-offs for each seeded group. At the same time, we've taken the opportunity to look at group sizes at events and have reworked the cut-offs to provide fewer but roughly equal-sized groups. There are now only 10 seeded groups for the road with the last being K. This will only be effective as of the next PPA event which is the Sportive #8 held on the 1st of December. We will be doing the same for MTB early next week. For any queries, please contact info@pedalpower.org.za
  21. Not really sure what to think about that...... but is what it is
  22. Dont think Durbie use PPA seeding as its not PPA event, probably using racetec index ( which still dont have one tonner included) with their own groupings...
  23. go via ppa website to get seeding. https://pedalpower.org.za/seeding/
  24. My best seeding is still from West Coast express. I don't do climbs, so flat/fast events work for me..... Not sure what best method is to get everyone match properly .. I would think going back to average of best 2/3 events would be best representation of true "fit" in a group for multiple types of events (flat/hilly/long/short etc).
  25. think they simply fixed the “base” event eventually used to calculate winner and betas..... now had to shuffle groups to make spread correct
