  1. I wanted a bike rack that matched the width of the Jimny. The Thule bike racks keep the front wheel on which makes the bike protrude on either side of the vehicle. I also don't need a two to three bike rack, just a single bike. Plus the crazy prices that they ask for their products. So I decided to make my own. I bought the seat post clamp from Thule as well as the rubber strap that holds the rear wheel in place. The front wheel from my Scott Spark bolts to the spare wheel of the Jimny, saving space. On a trip to the berg this week, there was no noticeable increase in fuel consumption with the bike on the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Is it a carbon or aluminium frame?

  4. I am surprised how many Cambers are out there! Thought it would be an EPIC dominated post.
  5. What difference did the carbon rims make to the feel of the bike? How much were the rims?

  11. Get a group of riders to go out armed with a firearm. When they get approached, fire a few rounds off at their feet to make them dance. Will freak them out for a while. We need to fight fire with fire.
  12. Grab is not 1.5 hours from CT! Max an hour.
  13. I spoke to a trauma doctor during my day to day travels around the Eastern Cape hospitals. He did not recommend a cortisone injection into the tendon. It will help but can lead to imbrittlement of the tendon later in life. He speaks from experience as his brother had this happen. He said either take cortisone orally or via an injection in the butt! Lots of rest too and a brace to spread the load during day to day movements. The reason we struggle to get rid of the tennis elbow is it is difficult to rest your right hand as we use it for so many things on a daily basis. http://well.blogs.ny...ype=blogs&_r=1
  14. I think I will just take some out as its quicker to get the answer I want that way! Was just wondering how little one can use to reduce the rotational mass.
  15. Any increase in rotational mass will affect how quickly the tyre/rim will accelerate.
  16. Its not a simple answer as not all the sealant rotates with the tyre. Most of it effectively sits at the bottom. The surface friction will work against the rotation of the tyre, but some will be carried around with each rotation.
  17. Does Stan's sealant contribute to rolling mass? Ie. if I reduce amount of Stans liquid in the tyre, will I reduce the rolling mass?
  18. Just spoken to Momsen in PE. They will have a small 29'r available from November onwards! The 650B will no longer be the small frame in the Vipa line up.
  19. Seen plenty photos of the 29" bikes but none of the 650B bikes. Anyone bought one? If so please post photos.
  20. I worked for a guy in CT in early 90's when I left school. His name was Gordon Netherton and was the guy in CT for custom spraying bikes. Once you applied primer, give the frame a light dusting of black. Now sand the frame until all trace of the black is gone. The light dusting of black helps you identify lows and highs whilst sanding. Also, to prevent paint creeping under masked areas and creating a fuzzy edge, apply clear to the masked areas. The clear will run under the masking tape and seal the edge.
  21. Is anyone using a Fizik Gobi XM carbon braided rail saddle? How do you find the saddle and have you compared it to the standard Manganese/Kuim railed versions? Just need some input about how the saddle compares to rest of the Gobi models. I bought the full carbon Gobi XM 00 saddle and I am finding it a bit hard. From what I can tell online, the braided rail version retains the top of the standard Manganese railed Gobi saddle with the nylon shell and thicker padding. The full carbon saddle like mine has a stiffer carbon shell and thinner padding.
