  1. Yes
  2. Unfortunately a really pitiful turnout by the Durban folk but a stunning morning for a beach front cycle!
  3. Looks like it might be a perfect day for a ride tomorrow! Overcast which will hopefully mean the beach front won't be too packed but very little wind and no rain predicted.
  4. PS My only problem is still organising this shoe box I always tend to leave things to the last minute and now seeing how much you are cramming in your box I am a little concerned... I was thinking one fluffy toy and had no idea you were meant to put everything into one box!
  5. We still doing this in the pouring rain?
  6. I was there... all alone! ha ha Did an hour and a half ride with about 45 minutes of it in the pitch dark. Loads of fun and rather scary when alone Apparently it was not formally arranged. Would love to do more some time.
  7. If the problems seem to lie with recharging then a solution is to pay a lot less and go for the non rechargeable units. Yes, you will be forking out for batteries but they cost about half the price when I was checking. By the way I got a H14 unit. Used it for a might ride recently and was satisfied. I say only satisfied as I was a bit disappointed with the fact that it reduces from 100% power after a while. I'd prefer bright light throughout my ride and carry spare batteries. The options available for mounting are great though!
  8. As a novice, I cannot fathom this fanboy aluminium vs carbon discussion that this has deteriorated into. Surely the more important question, rather than whether some aluminium frames are indeed lighter than carbon frames, should rather be whether the OP really needs a carbon frame? Surely if there are concerns he should just steer clear of carbon?
  9. So when you are going to endomondo.com you are signing in with your log in details? When I log in I click on workouts and all of them appear in a calender view. If I then click on one I am shown a summary of the workout together with a map of the route. The options are given to export etc. PS I have a sneaky suspicion that top speed is inaccurate though!
  10. Drongo, I'm assuming you signed up for an account first and put these details onto your phone to log in? Stupid to ask but sometimes it's the small things that are missed. Personally I am dissatisfied with the amount of "on phone" data provided for historical workouts with Endomondo. Sports Tracker allows you to view, and compare, heart rate, altitude, speed, heart rate etc on the actual phone without reference to the website. Endomondo doesn't. Unless this is perhaps only on the Nokia version?
  11. So do we have numbers yet?
  12. I was going to ask about Cleen Green as I had not seen it mentioned. I tend to spray the mud off my bike, then give it a wash down with a solution of Cleen Green (pour some in a bucket with warm water so not a strong solution but enough to bubble) and then spray that off. For the dirtier parts I get out the scrubbing brush and the toothbrush and give it a scrub with some Cleen Green solution. I then spray it all again and then give it a wipe down to dry. Once dry the chain gets lubed. I was using "Purple Extreme" synthetic lube, as it was recommended to me by the LBS, but with all the rain in Durbs I found my chain going brown in spots even with application after every ride, so sprayed some Q20 on the chain only (heard from someone to avoid using it?) last time. Anything I am doing wrong or missing out?
  13. Can anyone else confirm or deny this? Are the Mr Price specials decent enough on a budget or can better be found for similar prices? Also this would be for mountain biking not road riding.
  14. Thanks for all that Johan. I had picked up bits of that on the internet but it was great to get it all in one place. I found point 5 particularly interesting as when I first noticed the wobble I was also concerned that the tyre seemed a lot closer to the frame on the one side than the other. You mentioning this definitely seems to indicate that it is a spoke tightening issue I have. When pushing two criss crossed spokes together some do have far more give than others, so these need tightening. On the subject of doing it yourself, I do not have a spoke "wrench". How much would one cost, and would it be worth it? Or would it just be cheaper and easier to get a bike shop to do it for me?
  15. Pay me a fortune to tell others to rub elephant crap on their faces to make their skin clear and I'll do it too...
  16. If someone wants to buy one of these then good luck to them. The placebo affect is proven to exist.
  17. Hi, As some of you may no doubt be aware from my posts on here, I recently bought a Silverback Phoenix from Leewees in Johannesburg. Now them being in Joburg is part of the issue as I have now noticed that I have quite a wobble on the rear wheel and can't just pop it back to them to take a look at. It has obviously been like that since I got it but I only really noticed the other day when I had the bike on the rack and spun the back wheel. I stood behind and noticed it "wobbling" quite a bit from side to side. I have not ridden anything hardcore (as I can't!) and have limited my riding to the roads and the smooth paths at Giba. So, now for my question, and I realise the answer may not be an easy one, but what am I probably looking at? I know the advice will probably be to take it to a shop but that will obviously cost and it will be nice to get an idea of what it might be first before I get taken for a ride I have put a pen on the chainstay near the rear wheel, facing towards the rim, and spun the wheel and the rim touches the pen at some points but then at other times it may well be a few millimetres away from the pen tip. I'm obviously hoping it is not a buckled rim as there is no reason it should be unless I got it that way. Any ideas? Is it something fairly simple? I've been doing a bit of reading on truing wheels and tightening spokes...
  18. Still too early for me But I'll look at joining for the Friday afternoon ride.
  19. Maybe both your ladies have unfulfilled lesbian tendencies and the shaved legs allow them to get one step closer to fulfilling these desires?
  20. Interesting that you say this as I have been getting untold amounts of pressure from my peers to get cleats as a result of cycling with flats and good old takkies. I'm certain this pressure would increase substantially if I whipped out my sandals. I am intrigued with the answers here as I always thought that there was a valid reason for doing so.
  21. Hey, it's in the post heading 10 December 18h30
  22. Hi, I've seen this on the notice board at Giba. Can anyone confirm it's happening? And is anyone on here going to join? I'm keen
  23. I'm a late in
  24. Do you guys still do this?
