Yip I remember seeing that random caravan on the course. Thought I was hallucination my family coming to get me out of the heat. (yes I'm afrikaans and use to camp allot!! )

I see the 2014 Xterra Buffelspoort is on the same weekend as 70.3.... That sucks!!!!

Great news!!

Last year's wave's were very manageable.....much better than other tri's where everybody starts together. I also just had a tri-suit last year, was no problem, water was just quite cold.

Yip I agree!!! It is very irritating if you strong swimmer (swimming my strongest leg), but for guys doing their first tri it gives comfort...... Just mentioned it, sorry

Not that bad, just enjoy it. Just be prepared for some climbing on the bike, but run is flat and swim relatively easy (you can stand if must)

Compared to working, varsity is a jol, you have ample free time. Depends on the varsity, but many times you have a gap of few hours in the day and you seldom finish after 4pm. My advise, enjoy varsity as much as possible, gets loads more difficult after that...... (my parents always said that and I never believed them, but its the truth)

Does anyone use Movescount (Suunto)? Would like to see what routes other guys use and track the local triathlon competition.

Would be awesome if you could set something up at points in race course and "stream video" from devices (think they did it through a iPhone app at an xterra triathlon) Set up a big screen at finish then all the streams can be used to paint the picture (anyone with iPhone on course hotspots can stream) Can also advertise on the screen.... How bout that??
