  2. Cyclewizz says he wants to drag me to a sub 2:30 next year. Will it qualify as a sub 3:00?
  3. So do it. The complaint against your team did not raise itself. If everybody crosses the line, but only some are 'punished' then it is absurd. So play the absurd game right back at everybody else.... organisers included Or else, man up, chin up and take it like a man: Quietly on the chin (And off the hub!)
  4. I saw a lot of bicycles on sweeper vehicles / sweeper buses with trailers....
  5. Like Facebook going private (owners selling equity to private investors) or Microsoft buying out Nokia or (locally) Walmart buying Massmart? So, three deals bigger than that then?
  6. Two things: 1.) Pre-emptively(beofre disqualification) lodge complaints (with photo evidence) of all the other teams that crossed the line 2.) Every year there is a huge bitch fight about the winners/top teams breaking some or other rule here on the hub & in social media. Surely participating in the race isn't worth it for top teams / sponsored teams anymore! </lame off>

  8. Gimme this week to box/unbox my life. Busy discoverimg all kinds of junk I did not know I had!
  9. They were gone when I went past there
  10. Strava has the following to say of the above route: Distance of 38.9km and elevation gain of 619m. OK, so maybe a bit hilly?
  11. Nic Diedericks.... Think it is barely narrow enough for normal car traffic... How about: Start around Lifestyle/Randridge Mall - going down Ysterhout Left onto Rabie extension (though the dip) up to Malibongwe, Up Malibongwe to the corner of Northumberland Avenue (R564) Left and then all the way to Roodepoort, Up the hill to Ontdekkers Left all the way to Gordon. Left, and left again onto Hendrik Potgieter Road, down next to the highway. Right onto JG Strydom thorugh Weltevredenpark - will have to use Hillfox Powr Centre offramp and parking area to link up, Right onto John Vorster, back to the start A few climbs to keep the legs honest and some straight, flat(ter) sections to get the speed up Around 38km, and according to Google Earth around 560m of ascent? Will have to ride the route to get actuals though Something like this: Ok... Editing complete
  12. poking fun with a double edge sword
  13. You've put out a lot of your special brand of "you". I hope it goes back at you, and are not poor and multiply x10, x100, x1000 to come back and haunt the rest of us all over again!
  14. Nice... We are 3 so far. We should be able to rope Seeker911 into this as well (or else throw stones on his roof!)
  15. By 5am the sun is up and the birdies have taken their first chirping intermission already
  16. General vacinity is fine, cannot ask for a ride that starts/stops on my doorstep, hey? do not know the safe routes, nor the general training routes available - hoping to link in with existing groups to figure what is what this side of town... E2E -> The Engen 2 Engen group that leave at 4:50/5:00 weekday mornings from the Engen on Main St in Bryanston ICG -> Illovo Cycling Group that leave at 5am from the McD/Garage in Rosebank 5am is not that bad, there is a running group in Boskruin that I used to join a while ago - but I am getting lazy prefer some cycling nowadays
  17. bump. no shop morning rides, no group rides in this area?
  18. Andrew Mclean started in D. He came past me on the hill off the M1 pushing some bloke. Apparently he was riding with a Toyota Exec/Manager?
  19. 4:50/5:00 start, same as E2E group? I used to do a few E2E / ICGs from where I am staying at the moment, and then ride out there + a few extra kms (leave at 4:20am), and then do part of their rides with them, peeling off to be home by 6am. I imagine I'll still have to be home by 6am in future.
  20. I am looking for regular mid-week early morning road group rides start/finishing close to the above areas. Hoping to ride at avg speeds at the higher end of the mid 20km/h's (>27km/h) Eagle Canyon Cycles doesn't know of any rides, referred me to a club but I am not keen on joining another club - I am a happy lab rat Anything out there?
  21. Nasrec, going North onto the M1 perhaps - reversing the route.... Alternatively, what about the venue out in the Cradle where they held Jhb day?
  22. Sadly, I'm missing it this year. Last year was fun in the pouring rain, catching up and overtaking Alex P's group every time they punctured. I was totally knackered when I got to Magaliesburg. Be safe and have fun!
  23. I did not do the Jock this year (time/fitness constraints) however I did it the year before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has some of the toughest road racing routes available to us Joe Public/Average as cyclists. People who want a boutique/full service event should rather venture towards rides geared specifically for that. Also, the route was different from the "normal" one this year which could have added to issues (if there were any)?
